A hard rock band from Eau Claire, WI.
Hi, people who follow the blog I don’t update - please like my band over on Facebook! Music coming soon.
ROY 4 LYFE
this conservative meme is arguing that liberals are dumb because bernie sanders doesn’t exist
I knew he was too good to be true :(
No it’s because they all give you free stuff
The tooth fairy gives you nothing for free, she must be paid in teeth.
Same with Taxes and social benefits.
So that is now 2 systems of exchange you don’t understand and one of them is for 5 year olds :P
The Easter bunny also does not give you anything for free, you must engage in a contest of skill and visual acuity.
Santa demands a certain amount of prosocial behavior before he gives you anything better than coal. Seems like children enjoy transparent methods of exchange in which their investment of emotional and physical labor is directly compensated.
I mean like. Kids love free shit too. But none of the above are examples of that.
I think that it would be okay for legendary non-permanents to work differently than legendary permanents.
Do others share that opinion?
Yeah, I would expect them to work differently given how fundamentally different they are rules-wise.
Here is the story of Isobel the Angel. It took me 6 years, patience and luck to do this. Each painting was a separate commission but they let me tie them together through the character. All four were done for Magic: the Gathering. Prints available on my site www.howardlyon.com and link in bio. #art #mtg #mtgart #mtgsoi #angel #angels
In case you didn’t think Magic art was cool enough or Shadows over Innistrad wasn’t tragic enough, check out the story of Isobel. This is the deepest Vorthos lorestuff.
I’m super excited for SOI so far. The lore is looking amazing.
Streetlight manifesto/ ska plane?
: )
Featuring the introduction of the 6th color, Checkerboard mana.
Would there ever be even a remote possibility of a card being printed that says "if you would lose the game this turn, instead you win the game"?
It’s a dangerous card.
It would have to be crazy expensive (likely 5 mana or more) to avoid being a deck in Modern with the Pacts, and 5 mana for such a narrow effect would see almost no play.
Steve left a party by saying, in a somewhat loud but very cordial tone, “Good evening.” Once he was out the door, I said, “What a Dracula!” Ben Blacker replied, simply, “’Steve Agee’s Dracula.’” And then this.
I’ve long since given up on this being anything but a personal blog, so please enjoy this great bit of writing. I was not ready for the closing song and bust out laughing.
What Magic products are you asking for this Christmas...?
…be specific.
The Holiday Gift Box, as I find them really handy for storage. I’d like Arena of the Planeswalkers, although mainly for board game design/modding purposes because that’s one of my hobbies.
Will there ever be enough silver bordered cards to have a format based around them?
One could argue there already is.
A friend of mind built an Un-Cube, and I think it supports 8 players with only silver-bordered cards (+ basic lands, obviously), so it seems somewhat feasible that you could build a format with a card pool that size.
Please tell me why Jace's nickname is "baby arms"
NOTE: THIS NICKNAME IS NOT OFFICIALLY ENDORSED BY WIZARDS OF THE COAST AND IS ONLY UTILIZED BY SPECIFIC MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TEAM WHOSE OPINIONS AND DUMB BUT LOVING NICKNAMES ARE THEIR OWN.
A while back, Community Manager Alison held a ‘NON-MAGICAL DUELS OF THE PLANESWALKERS’ competition on the outside wall of her cubicle. Coworkers voted on which planeswalker would win in a non-magical fistfight.
Jace was slated against Domri Rade and lost kinda pathetically so some brave stranger dubbed him ‘Baby Arms Beleren’, and it stuck.
Okay, since so many folks had questions:
Bolas isn’t really humanoid so we didn’t include him in the fight. The rules are as follows:
We divided participants by weight class and each pairing had four days for voting.
For the sake of a good time, here were the matchups. Let us know who you think would have won each. We’ll keep our results (other than the top winner) a secret for the sake of good conversation.
Gideon vs Garruk - Without magic, Gideon has no chance - Garruk wins on size alone.
Sorin vs Tezzeret - Assuming standard vampire lore isn’t tied to magic, Sorin should naturally have super strength, invulnerability, and possible the ability to fly. Sorin probably takes this.
Nissa vs Tamiyo - I feel like Tamiyo was portrayed more as a scholar than a fighter, so I’d go with Nissa here.
Koth vs Karn - Karn is made of metal. This fight would not end well for Koth.
Jace vs Domri Rade - Domri takes it over Baby Arms, having grown up in the Gruul clans where fighting to prove your dominance is commonplace.
Chandra vs Liliana - This is the closest of the fights in my mind. I think Chandra’s more willing to get her hands dirty, so to speak, so I’ll give the edge to her.
Ajani vs Sarkhan Vol - I’m assuming that Sarkhan’s dragon transformation is considered magical and is thus banned. If I’m right, I think Ajani takes this fairly handily, but if I’m wrong, I’d give it to Sarkhan. Basically dragon > leonin > human in hand-to-hand, I’d assume.
Tibalt vs Dack Fayden - Slight edge to Tibalt, given his penchant for violence, but this one is also probably fairly close.
007 License to Kill Target Creature I hope I haven’t done the rules a total injustice! I THINK this is the basic rules right? They are so much more nuanced and complex than this, BUT hey, I think it might be enough to loosely follow.
I had a rad time at the Friday Night Magic draft at chezgeeks last friday. I’ll try do a lil mini recap of it! WOO!
My niece has mentioned wanting to learn to play but declines every time I offer to teach her. This is a good primer
Wish the artist was nicer to Catacomb Slug, who is a fine addition to control decks in Limited, but otherwise a nice intro to MTG rules.
Wizards of the Coast invited me to create five posters as in-store decor for Magic: The Gathering’s Planeswalkers characters.
Now I need these…*sigh*
Holy shit, these are gorgeous.
Design prompt
A land with a mana cost, done in a vorthosy top down design that is balanced enough to be fair while still being strong enough to see play
Rule note: Lands can’t have a mana cost. They aren’t spells and can’t be casted. At best what you can do is staple a cost on them like Ruptured Spire that forces you to pay an amount of mana to keep them.
Here’s my response for this prompt. Probably a bit too complex in NWO world, and maybe a bit too good since it’s almost strictly better than Boseiju, Who Shelters All.
Vorthos-y idea here is that it’s a location where the Blind Eternities between two planes is “thin”, meaning that mana generated from these leylines is harder to interact with - I’m not always great at flavor stuff, so this could reveal me fundamentally not understanding Magic lore, so please be gentle if that’s insane or impossible via established lore.
I had to fudge the normal rules for lands with counters to make it fit the prompt; usually lands with counters have the sacrifice ability as part of their activation, but I didn’t want to allow players to pay 0 for X and then cheat counters on some other way. Constructive criticism certainly welcome.
He can’t do anything about it. This is Tumblr.
