Anyway, I need more rpgs with absolute dumb shit power scaling. I understand the appeal of the classic 1-20 rise and grind of 5e and PF2e, but we as a TTRPG community gotta get BIGGER with that shit.

Genuinely, the only TTRPG that’s remotely scratched that itch for me is Burning Wheel, and that’s just because Greyshading or Whiteshading a skill turns you into into a nigh-unstoppable paragon at that skill and the rest is narrative shenanigans. ICON isn’t half bad but that’s just because Tom is an insane person whose brain I want to eat for the power it’ll give me. I want some RPG shit that rly makes me feel like a K6BD Demiurge

Idk if anyone else has played Burning Wheel before but it almost feels like an exercise in how to make an overcomplicated TTPRG system. It's fascinating and beautiful in it's clunkiness.

There are three DIFFERENT combat systems that can be swapped out at will. There's a whole system for verbal combat, like debates. It's a seven-way rock paper scissors game of stance modifiers that effect your social rolls.

you can unlock the ship's doctor lifepath via having been a different kind of doctor already, or just by having been a barber

being a beekeeper gives you the insect husbandry skill, which is separate from the above spider husbandry, which is for orcs who raise giant spiders

there is a dwarves-only skill called drunking, used to get drunk as fast as possible, and also to appear sober

My favorite skill in the entire game was Astrology, which allows you to explode any non-combat roll in BOTH directions. (crits allow you to roll extra die, but crit fails cause you to roll another die that only makes things worse)

I once tried to forage for (foraging is a skill) berries with astrology, and fucked up so bad that I killed two party members and myself with a single roll. It ruled.
