Okay, couple of things since I've gotten responses to my video...
I know air conditioners aren't inexpensive. But they are a good investment. Spending $400 now can make the next ten years of your life remarkably better. If you can't afford that, that sucks. But if you can afford it, do it.
It's weird to say "people are dying" in response to a video where I explicitly say "people are dying." I literally bring up that other places have this heat without the deaths because they have A/C, and have repeatedly said in the past that this is a needed investment in places like the UK now because of how many people are dying because of the heat. That is literally part of my whole point.
Buildings that trap heat are also good at holding in A/C when you add it. We have brick houses in Wisconsin too. Buildings that trap heat are also good at holding in A/C. Buildings that trap heat are also good at holding in A/C.

It doesn't even get that cold in the UK.
Also AC is harm reduction. AC keeps people who have difficulty regulating their body temperature from dying.
People like those with spinal cord injuries, people on medications like SSRIs or stimulants, disabled people, elderly people, and babies/small children.
I know AC isn't good for the environment, but until our governments decide to get off their asses and actually do something, it's the best option. Remember: doing something a bit problematic to help keep vulnerable people alive and healthy is the morally correct thing to do.
And a lot of that environmental harm can be mitigated in the long run by investing into green energy and updating houses for passive cooling.
But, like, if you don't want people to die immediately, AC is the only real option.
WIP. Wip it real good.
when pacific rim is brought up around me in a "the jaegars are so epic" way and i have to pretend to be Super Normal about raleigh having felt his brother die mid-drift and having to pull himself and their jaegar singlehandedly back to shore and losing all faith in the world and the existing system and mako losing her family to the kaiju and so she grows up training to be a jaegar pilot even though the man who protected and raised her doesn't want to lose her to the kaiju along with the countless others he sent to their deaths and raleigh and mako having that instant connection (and it's debatable whether they want to kiss crazy styles but there's no time to unpack bc they need to save humanity first) and nothing can break it not pentecost or the asshole australian pilot who won't give them a break or even the fucker aliens that live behind the breach and also the two eccentric (gay) scientists who constantly bicker and butt heads coming to an enthusiastic understanding that they have to drift together with a kaiju brain because if geiszler is gonna do it again who but gottlieb is crazy enough to do it with him and the overall act of drifting itself being so intimate and personal because This is the person that knows Everything about you and now you're gonna go out there and murder some kaijus but you're doing it together because you Need each other and and and
makes me so sad when my friends refuse to pirate things and insist on paying for a streaming service EVEN when i offer to do it for them or teach them. like pleaseeee i have a vpn i have a plex server i can get you whatever you want. don't buy disney+ i can be your little poob i have it for you.
Why are you using the Destiel meme to break the news that JK Rowling sexually assaulted a transgender woman by posting an underskirt creepshot of her.
You're all insensitive pricks.
On this day, 18 July 1969, Black Panthers held a conference in Oakland alongside the predominantly white anti-racist Young Patriots Organisation and Puerto Rican street gang-turned-radical group the Young Lords. A KPIX news report described the event as an “unconventional convention” which was nevertheless “well-organised and orderly”, and explained that the Panthers’ motivation in holding it was to emphasise “class struggle” and “revolutionary unity”. The Young Patriots were a group of poor, mostly Appalachian migrants in Chicago. Although they opposed racism, they originally wore Confederate flags, which they believed were a symbol of rebellion. Leading Panther Fred Hampton played a key role in building links with them and other white working-class youth, until he was assassinated by police. In his speech, William "Preacherman" Fesperman of the Young Patriots, argued for armed self-defence against police brutality: "A gun on the side of a pig means two things: it means racism and it means capitalism and the gun on the side of a revolutionary, on the side of the people, means solidarity and socialism." Later, the Young Patriots abandoned the Confederate flag symbol as an irredeemable symbol of white supremacy. As former-Patriot Hy Thurman explained to Redneck Revolt: “As we grew politically and respected the Black Panthers and the Young Lords we determined that there was no place in the movement or the world for the Confederate flag. It symbolises a period of time when our Black brothers and sisters were mere property to be sold or destroyed at the white man's convenience. And that the Confederate flag was created to serve as a symbol of plantation owners to perpetuate slavocracy.” Learn more about the Panthers in these books by former members: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/all/black-panthers
When I say women should have higher standards for how they're treated, this is exactly what I mean. At the first insult? Kick. Him. To. The. Curb.
diva!!!!!!
to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.
just FYI, this is quite literally what the climate scientists at my work who specialized in wildfire smoke impacts recommend. it works great, it's cheap to make, and it will make a noticeable impact on your air quality.
i have asthma & keep one of these running in my room perpetually. after I set it up the difference in my sleep quality was pretty much night and day. Dont waste your time on proprietary air filters; SIMPLY bust out the duct tape
