Let's discuss the first and most frustrating part of MLMs; the recruitment. We have all interacted with the copy and paste messages or posts about their new small business venture.

Today, I want to talk about an interesting 'non-mlm' mlm I interviewed with at the beginning of the year.
Found the listing on LinkedIn for 'Event Coordinator/ Marketing Specialist/ Entry Level Only'. Applied and heard back fairly quickly and was happily surprised by that. I'd applied to many jobs prior, and this was the actual first response I got. Interacted and scheduled time to meet for an interview. On the day before, I got nervous so I googled and looked into reviews of the company. I prefer working with small businesses so I was not expecting much.
I actually found a lot. People were discussing how they worked with them for a short time and it was all about recruiting. Nothing else, no other jobs to be filled, just getting more people to work for them.
In the interview, they used a lot of buzzwords that went over my head even, and were not really able to share any actual information. Their Facebook was bare, not much content on any platform. Even their set up in person felt off. All cheap furniture that looked brand new, despite their three years of operation. Everyone was overly dressed considering the work from home movement.
They also set up an in-person interview right away without any phone interviewing, and in the middle of a pandemic.
Overall, it was an off experience and I fully think that this is a form of multi-level marketing without the upfront price expectation. Just recruiting more people without any promise.
TLDR; don't trust companies with over use of buzzwords and trust your feelings.
Anti vaxxers will be like “at least I do my RESEARCH and don’t put anything harmful into my body!!1!1!1!” And then will turn around and slam some pyramid scheme coffee that makes you shit your pants

You have to deal with said idiots
People sometimes think you’re against men loving men
“Have you tried [insert lame MLM product here]”…

Real talk: MLMs are one of the worst things to happen to female friendships
EDIT: Y’all, this is about Multi-Level Marketing. The pyramid scheme stuff like Scentsy, Herbalife, whatever. Sorry that wasn’t clear!
ive been on an anti-mlm (multi-level marketing, not men-loving men) kick and like. i just dont get why that model? like if you have a product that you created and you wanna peddle it to ppl w false claims like. why go thru the hassel of getting people beneath you to sell it? just open ur own damn store and sell directly to consumers! cut out the middle man! efficiency! like not only is it more legit in the eyes of the average customer, you also won't have to fend off pyramid scheme accusations bc you won't be one! like some of these brands could easily have been etsy shops and grown organically instead of preying on vulnerable women. idk i guess i have too much of a conscience to be a fucken shyster.
What I said: I work from home.
What I meant: I'm a freelance artist who chooses which jobs I take.
What they heard: I want to sell you shampoo that makes your hair fall out and essential oils can replace vaccines.
I'd like to have the confidence of a Hunbot peddling her MLM products in the aisles of the Walgreens....
Since I’ve been dealing with this mostly on facebook, here’s something for everyone to know and be aware of. Especially you teens/college students.
Under the cut is a list of every pyramid-scheme/MLM that I am aware of. These are not reputable businesses. They prey on the inexperienced, the poor, and the impressionable. You cannot make money through these. Do not apply, don’t engage, and do not ruin your life with them.

I got suckered into Herbalife years ago. I stopped when the person who “sponsored” me requested larger and larger amounts from me. I lost over $400 on it altogether, but a lot of people have lost so much more than that on MLMs and pyramid schemes.
