I think Zooble sees Caine as a person from the start. That's why they try to explain their issues to him in a serious way even though it doesn't work and "the only thing holding him back is that he likes us" is a recognition that Caine's feelings are real. But that's why they dislike him the most. A piece of software that keeps doing something you hate is annoying, or maybe broken, but a person who keeps doing something you hate is an asshole.

I don't think Jax sees Caine as a person, rather than a part of how the circus works that he can figure out and manipulate to annoy people with, until he realises that Caine is capable of lying. Not AI bullshit where he says things that simply aren't true, but motivated deception. Which is a fascinating thing to recognise as human and yet makes perfect sense.
