just wanted to update everyone on whats being worked on for this blog. also at the persuasion of my boyfriend ive started watching invincible so maybe i'll plan pieces for that too if i like a character enough. stay tuned :}
OMG THE VARKA/ITTO X MALE READER GOT ME HUHU IM SO GLAD SOMEONE DOES X MALE READER PAPA ME WANT MORE MOVIES CUTELY BATS EYELASHES
haha thank you so much! i'm really glad people are enjoying my pieces, especially since its all male reader so i wasn't sure if i'd get any traction. i'll definitely make more stuff for varka and itto, i promise :} i main both of them so its only fair lol
HIIIII i just wanted to tell u that i LOVED ur male fics of jason and if u could make more (if u're okay with it) 'cause I love how u write him!! HAVE A GOOD DAY <33
thank you so much haha! i was hesitant to post for jason since i understand a lot of his fans are very protective of his characterization (i am too, to be fair) but im happy that it's resonating with people. rest assured, i will definitely write more for jason. in fact, he's probably gonna be the character i write the most for lol. i have like 2 multi-chaptered fanfiction ideas for him and 3 pieces for him in the outline stages right now. stay tuned, and have a good day as well!
Thanks for the varka x male reader, he s such a popular character but I couldnt find any male reader content which is a shame because its sometimes hard to relate to female readers. I wouldve written things myself if I wasnt so horrendous at it. Thank you for doing god s work ππ»π
of course, and i totally understand your struggle to relate to a majority of fanfiction out there. i was also really struggling to find varka x male reader posts, which is why i made it my first writing piece on this account. i've been waiting for varka since february 2022 and it's such a shame that there's so little content for people like me. there's no shaming in being bad at writing at first by the way, everyone starts somewhere, like i did. i say give it a shot! you'll always get better with every piece, i promise.
πππππ :: your tire blows out, leaving you stuck in an isolated street in the middle of the night with no signal. you're ready to camp in your car until daylight comes, but a handsome biker comes to your rescue.
π ππππππππ β biker jason todd x male reader.
πππππ !! 3.7k words. reader is described as a cute guy who is vaguely shorter than jason. reader wants jason so bad. story inspired by and art in the header made by ciricearts on tumblr and twitter! cross posted on ao3.
the males in your family taught you a lot of things. how to whittle, how to throw a proper punch, how to clean your car so you wouldn't need to bring it to a car wash β a lot of things.
however, they did not teach you how to change a tire. and even if they did, you didn't have a spare tire in your trunk anyway.
maybe if you didn't decide to have a fun night out with your friends in central city, this wouldn't have happened. perhaps your car would have chosen a better place to pop a tire, like in a very populated grocery store parking lot during the day.
but, no. instead, it decided to falter when you were driving back to gotham in the dead of night, at a narrow, dark, and isolated road that you usually took as a shortcut to get home faster. if you knew the predicament you'd be in when you took this route, you would've just taken the main road and waited through traffic.
staring daggers into the blown out tire with your phone's flashlight, you let out the deepest sigh of your life, pinching your nosebridge as your mind raced with possible solutions. looking at your phone, you decided the best decision was to call a tow truck.
you continued to stare daggers, this time at your phone, because there wasn't any signal in the area. raising your arm as high to the sky as it could go did nothing as well, playing the same "call cannot be made" voiceline every time you tried calling a towing service.
now, you were properly stranded.
cursing to yourself, you decided to just accept your fate and start cozying yourself up for the next few hours until sun up. once the sun rises, you'll just bite the bullet, walk your way home, and call the towing service then. your legs will probably have blisters by the end of that long walk, but it's better than waiting aimlessly for someone to help you.
right as you were about to enter your car to wait, you heard an engine revving in the near distance.
panicking at the possibility of another human being encountering you when you were stuck and defenseless, you quickly grabbed the baton you kept under your car seat, stuck your wallet into your pants, your keys and phone in your pockets, then locked your car doors.
if this guy tried mugging you, he probably wouldn't be willing to dig into your pants for it. and even if he was, you would have already swung on him.
grasping onto the baton for dear life as you heard the vehicle get closer, you hid behind your car. the lights of what seemed to be a motorcycle illuminated the dark pathway and the trees surrounding it.
right as the motorcycle was about to drive past you, the engine suddenly stopped, and you could hear the rider lower the kickstand to keep the bike upright. footsteps approaching your car slowly creeped up closer and closer, making you sweat in anticipation.
"hello?" the mysterious man called out to the direction of your vehicle. "is anybody in there?"
he didn't sound malicious at all, and it was just him with his motorcycle, so it was clear he wasn't in a group. you weighed out your options on if you should reveal yourself to him. there was a chance he could be a genuine good samaritan that just wants to help you out, but there was also a chance he was somehow a lackey of black mask and you were about to get kidnapped.
pondering for a few seconds, you decided to just take your chances, you'd really rather not stay here for the next few hours. still grabbing tightly onto the baton, you stood up from behind the car, making sure to hold your weapon just out of sight as you revealed yourself to the biker. "hey, this is my car. my tire just blew out."
finally getting a good look at the man in front of you, the first thing you noticed was that he practically towered over you, even from a distance. a grey compression shirt hugged his clearly very muscular torso, paired with black cargo pants that were baggy enough to be fashionable, but still somehow showed off his thigh muscles. you couldn't see his face though, his jet black helmet was covering it.
"yeah, i saw." he motioned his head to your damaged tire, crossing his arms. "which is why i was concerned when no one was in the drivers seat. you alright?"
you felt your face flush a little as you stared. anyone could tell that this guy worked out just from first glance, but it was much more obvious in the way his biceps bulged with his current pose. you blinked, trying to keep yourself grounded with a guy who was exactly your type right in front of you.
"oh no, i'm not injured at all." staring in another direction, you tried to stop your face from getting warmer by not looking directly at him.
"that's good, then." he walked towards you, long arms now swaying by his side. there was an air around him that almost commanded attention, leading your eyes right back to him. "i'm assuming you're still here because you don't know how to fix a tire, right?"
"oh, uh." you scratched the back of your neck sheepishly. despite being a grown man who doesn't know how to fix a tire, the biker seemed nonjudgemental. "yeah, sorry. how could you tell?"
"when most people blow their tires out, they immediately start working on fixing it." he took a step back to stare again at your vehicle. "but there aren't any tools next to the damaged tire. the only reason they wouldn't be there is if you either didn't have tools, didn't have a spare tire, or didn't know how to change one." his voice was smooth and deep, you'd be spacing out listening to it if you didn't think he was incredibly physically attractive.
realizing you haven't replied to his observation yet, you coughed. stay focused, man. "wow, good work." you flashed him a shy smile. "unfortunately, it's all three reasons in my case."
"hm." he focused his gaze on you. even through the dark panel of the helmet, you still felt your body sweat with his eyes on you as he spoke. "what were you planning to do, then? there's no service in these parts."
you huffed as you stared at the ground, not wanting to look even more pathetic and flustered than you probably already did. "i was just gonna wait in my car until the sun came up. i'd walk my way home then call for a service to bring my car to the shop and back to me."
"bad decision." immediately, he rebutted with a sharp tone. "we're talking about staying in the dark for hours at the outskirts of gotham. it's incredibly dangerous, even with that baton you have there."
"what?" you glanced at the weapon you were holding, certain that it was out of sight at the angle he was looking at. "how'd you β "
"the side mirrors on the car give you away." you followed his gaze, seeing that the car window did indeed show you holding the baton clear as day.
"oh⦠ha, i guess they do." you finally loosened your grip on the baton, figuring the man would have mugged you by now if he really wanted to. "it seemed like a good weapon based on the ratings online."
"well, it's not the best." suddenly, he turned around and started walking back to his motorcycle, sliding back onto the seat with ease. was this guy really about to leave you here?
"uh, where are you going?" you followed behind him, ready to smash the hell out of his precious bike if he dared to abandon you here.
"get on."
"what?"
wordlessly, he unclipped the ties of his helmet, taking it off and handing it to you.
"i don't have a second helmet, so just wear mine." he ruffled his hair, clearly losing some volume after being restricted for so long.
for a while, you didn't move. you stayed in place as you took in the face of your hero.
he had black hair with some strands of white at the front, falling gracefully near his long lashes that batted over his dull green eyes. his face was peppered with scars, some small, some deep; the kinds that make you fantasize about gently tracing your fingers over the lines.
his entire body was angular and defined, which clearly included his face. his jaw and nose were sharp, with his cheekbones being deep and defined to compliment them. if you looked close enough, you'd also notice that there was a small bump in the middle of his nosebridge. you think it would be a great place to give him a kiss.
realizing you've been staring at him for a good few seconds without saying a word, you immediately started rubbing your eyes strategically. "sorry, i'm just getting a little sleepy." liar. your heartbeat was going a thousand miles a minute, but you couldn't just say to this stranger that he was so handsome you had to stare and analyze his features.
regardless of your embarrassment, you finally let go of the baton in order to take his helmet in your hands, a flattered smile on your face. "sure, i'll wear it. thank you so much."
"mm." humming in response, he stared at you as you fumbled to clip in the helmet, your fingers slipping and repeatedly missing the latch.
"ah, hold on..." you kept fumbling with it, feeling embarrassment well up in your heart but not being able to find the positioning with how dark it was.
"just β " he got off his seat and leaned in, bending down slightly in order to reach your height. a breath got caught in your throat as his fingers grazed your chin, locking in the helmet for you and adjusting the tightness. your eyes darted between staring at his handsome face and staring at his large, calloused hands just under your face.
once he got it, he stepped back to make sure it was stable on your head. "there." he nodded to himself.
"th β thank you." the coolness of the forest around you felt nonexistent as your face warmed up more than it ever has in your life. you looked back up to see he's already gotten back onto his bike, tucking the kickstand back. "oh!"
remembering that he offered you a ride home, you awkwardly climbed onto the spot behind him, the motorcycle being a bit tall for your liking. makes sense though, a big vehicle for a big person. "okay, i'm on."
"hold onto something, i go fast." he put his hands on the handles, his back muscles moving with his change of position. "don't want you falling off."
maybe it was just his deep tone manipulating your flustered brain, but if you didn't know any better, you'd say he was suggesting you to hold onto him for support. well, good thing you still had some sense in you, even after all the staring you did. simply grabbing onto the back of the motorcycle, you gave him a thumbs up. "all good back here, go whenever you're ready."
the moment the words left your mouth, the bike darted out of the lonely street. you nearly slipped on the side because of the sheer speed he started the ride off with, your body resorted to grabbing onto his waist for support in an effort to not become road meat.
right as you were about to apologize for grabbing onto his waist instinctually and go back to just holding the back of the bike, he somehow managed to go even faster, making you have to close your eyes with how the wind blew around you. it also made grabbing onto his waist an absolute necessity, because if you tried to hold onto anything less sturdy for support, youβre absolutely sure youβd fall off. your hands gripped even tighter on his waist in fear, your fingers sweating.
"you really do go fast!" you practically had to yell at him so he could hear you over the wind and engine revving.
"it's more fun this way!" he yelled back at you, and you could tell that he had a grin on his face from his tone alone. "also, where do you live? i'll drop you off!"
a more sane version of you would give a fake address to this complete stranger that you didn't even know the name of yet. a version of you that didn't secretly relish in the feeling of your arms around his muscular torso would have told him to just drop you off at a popular gotham landmark and walk the rest of the way there.
however, that version of you did not exist at the moment. you confidently told him your full address with similar trust you'd give to a long term friend.
"got it!" he gave you a cute thumbs up, and quickly changed routes to get to your house as soon as possible, clearly being a guy that knows the city from front to back.
your eyes glazed over the bright lights of gotham as more buildings came into view the closer he rode you closer to the city, far away from the isolated little road you were convinced you'd be stuck in just a few moments ago.
feeling an immense amount of gratitude for this strange man that came to you like an angel, you wrapped your hands a little tighter around him, enjoying the warmth of his body flushing onto yours.
"what's your name by the way?" as the city got more and more vibrant the further in you two traversed, he calmed the speed a little. it was still fast, but not as wind breaking as it was earlier.
"oh, right, i haven't told you." quickly telling him your name, you smiled to yourself knowing he was the one to ask first. "what about you? whatβs your name?"
"itβs jason." no longer needing to yell as the ride slowed down, his smooth voice returned, the faint vibrations of his tone being felt on your skin as your arms were still latched around him loosely.
"nice to meet you, jason." a bright smile was spread onto your face even if you knew he wouldn't see it from under the helmet. "you're a really cool guy."
jason chuckled, your name rolling off his tongue like it was meant to be voiced by him. "nice to meet you too. you're a cool guy as well."
thinking that was all, the smile remained on your face, until he tacked on: "even if you are kind of a prince in distress." with a teasing tone.
while you're not denying that your face warmed at being called a prince by the most handsome man you've ever seen in your life, you also felt a little pang of playful annoyance clinging onto you. "hey, the only reason i seem that way is because you offered to help me, my knight in shining armor. i could have handled myself, sir jason."
even though you reciprocated jason's teasing tone, if you really were a prince, you'd be the luckiest man in the world with jason as your knight. he'd also look really good in a suit of armor, but you don't tell him that.
"no need to get defensive, your highness." the banter seemed to light him up, the smile on his face was clear as day even if you couldn't see it. "just doing my job, bringing the helpless prince home to his royal castle."
"very funny." resisting the urge to poke at his waist just in case he had a tickle spot there, you rolled your eyes in amusement. "i'll be sure to reward you with a nice royal kiss once you get me home." testing the waters for his reaction, you see if you can blur the line between joking and flirting a little bit.
"that would be much appreciated, your excellency." jason almost immediately responded in a tone that was certainly still happy, but you couldn't tell if he was joking or not by accepting your offer for a kiss. "oh, this is close to where you live right?" dropping the act, he looks around to make sure he's going the right way.
immediately recognizing the area after he pointed it out, you felt a part of you sadden at the thought of the night ending. "yeah, we're getting close. just round the corner there." untightening your one arm to point at the direction of your street, he follows your guidance.
and just as quickly as the encounter started, it was swiftly closing off. he stopped in front of your house, the numbers you mentioned in your address clearly displayed in front of the building.
you sighed to yourself as you started taking off his helmet, getting off of the backseat while he locked the kickstand of the bike back into place. quickly managing to remove the latch now that the area was well lit, you handed the helmet back to jason, glancing at his face as much as you could before you had to say goodnight.
"thank you so much again for bringing me home, if it wasn't for you, i'd still be stuck on that road with my busted car." you chuckled at the thought, a little bittersweet.
"don't mention it, it'd be cruel just to leave a guy there." he shrugged, but this time, a small smile was on his cute lips.
you thought to yourself for a second.
hm.
"oh, also β " you brought your phone out from your pocket, clicking the on button with no response. "my phone is dead. i'm sorry for having to ask another favor from you, but could i borrow your phone to call a tow truck?"
"oh, sure." seemingly unbothered by the request, he grabbed his phone from a compartment at the front of his motorcycle and handed it to you. "good call, someone might try to break into your car if you leave it out there for too long.β
"my thoughts exactly." you lied, opening his contacts app and typing in something. he assumed it was just a random towing company, looking around your neighborhood while he waited for you to finish.
you suddenly poked the phone back in his direction, surprising him since he didn't hear you call anybody. before he could ask if you were done, he looked at the screen.

XXX-XXX-XXX
"Helpess" Prince
jason felt his face blush as he quickly realized what you did, staring at his screen and reading the text over and over just to make sure his eyes weren't deceiving him.
but before he could even open his mouth to reply, you placed the phone onto his lap, a cheeky smile on your face. "let me know if you ever want to redeem that kiss as a reward, my knight."
feeling his face heat up even darker, jason started to stutter any response he could muster towards your advances. he could feel himself slowly starting to sweat.
you laughed at his reaction, the cheeky look on your face being replaced with a genuine fond one. "well, goodnight." waving him goodbye, you rushed to your front door before he could react properly. you'd rather not stick around for what he has to say in case it was a rejection. and with that, you gave him one last look over your shoulder, smiling at his red face, before entering the building.
jason stayed outside for a good five minutes, taking deep breaths while waiting for his face to calm down and go back to it's normal hue.
once it did, he simply put his phone in his pocket, and rode off.
dick, having stopped by from blΓΌdhaven because he needed to attend to some business in gotham, used this opportunity to check up on a few people personally. this included jason, who was currently in full red hood attire. "jay! hey there."
suddenly dropping onto the rooftop jason was patrolling from, he wasn't surprised when red hood didn't turn around, and simply kept looking down at his patrol area.
"dick." is all he said in response, just acknowledging nightwing's presence.
not deterred at all by jason's usual demeanor, dick strolled right on beside him. "how are you? you should really update us more.β
"i'm doing fine. not much going on." still not taking his eyes off of the areas below them, he crossed his arms.
"you sure?" dick tilted his head, clearly having something he wanted to ask. "you didn't attend that gala we were supposed to go to yesterday with bruce. did something happen?"
at the mention of things that were taking place yesterday, jason's mind flashed with images of you. your shy expressions when you admitted you didn't know how to change a tire, the grin you gave when you managed to trick him into taking your number, your arms wrapped around his stomach as he sped through the city.
jason lowered his head slightly. "nothing happened, just wasn't in the mood to go. you know how i am with those events."
it's true he disliked attending useless publicity dinners, but he was still lying through his teeth.
the entire reason jason was even on that lonely road on the outskirts of gotham was because he was making his way to the gala, and decided to take it as a shortcut. a fresh black suit was stored in the compartment underneath the motorcycle seats you two sat on together, and he actually booked a hotel he could stay at overnight so he didn't have to travel back immediately after the night.
but clearly, better things were planned for him. specifically, a cute guy with blown out tires was waiting for him, and he didn't regret choosing you over a stupid gala at all.
"...alright." dick responded, clearly not believing him, but knowing better than to push his buttons. "well, just let me know if something does happen.β
"sure." eager to just get nightwing off of his ass, he agreed, even though he'd probably never take him up on that offer.
"thanks." dick started canvassing the rooftops, clearly trying to find directions on where the other vigilantes would be. he seemed to spot something, as he waved jason goodbye with a smile on his face. "i'll get going now, see you!"
waving grayson goodbye as he effortlessly jumped and weaved over roof tops, jason sighed in relief as he was alone again. he continued to stare at the buildings, growing bored as the minutes passed.
suddenly, he remembered he hasn't texted you yet, his phone feeling much more clear and heavy while it rested in his pocket.
...well, nothing seemed to be happening in his area.
bringing out his phone, he clicked the newest contact someone else had added, and started typing.
πππππ :: you love jason with all your heart, he's all you've ever wanted in a boyfriend, and you'd truly do anything for him. even if that means letting him sniff your under arms aggressively every day.
π ππππππππ β jason todd x male reader.
πππππ !! not nsfw or suggestive. (jason just really loves to smell your under arms, he seems like the type.)
"jason."
"mmph."
"jason peter todd."
"mmmph."
"i need to shower. please, release me."
all he did in response was bury his face deeper. you sighed.
jason todd was robin at one point. you learned that, and you wholeheartedly accepted him for it. jason todd is red hood now. you learned that, and you always made sure his secret was safe with you. jason todd has killed people before. you learned that, and still chose to trust him with your life and heart.
jason todd loves sniffing your under arms. you learned that, and had to be bribed just to let him keep doing it to his hearts content.
you lay in bed after work, forced to stay by the grip of your boyfriend who is over 6 feet tall, built like a brick wall, and has the biggest biceps you've ever seen. not only that, but he's cuddling you in such a way that it forces one of your arms to raise above your head, creating a perfect opening for him to plant his face inside of.
he's been there for the past 30 minutes, just breathing you in and slowly drifting to sleep. every time you think he's finally deep in slumber, you try to sneak away from his grasp with the most stealth you can muster, only to be pulled back in with strength akin to a bullet train. turns out, he was not asleep. and you were still being sniffed.
sighing as he kept himself cozy in your under arms, you think back to the first time he did this to you.
it was right after he had barely managed to climb through your window, bleeding out so fast you were scared he'd die in your arms. you tried your best to make use of the first-aid kit you bought after he revealed his secret identity to you, quickly using the stitch and needle in it to patch him back up. it was a night that was so terrifying to you, that you only made it through because of the adrenaline and forcing your brain into survival mode.
after managing to stop the bleeding and stitching him back up, you helped him get rested on your bed so you could give him some small comfort while you disinfected his wound. however, when you got up to grab the first-aid kit again, he quickly pulled you into the bed with him, and just sniffed you.
"jason?" you looked at him, extremely puzzled and extremely stressed. "man, what are you... we don't have time for this! we need to disinfect your wound right now or it migh β "
"you always smell so good..." in a sleepy tone, he mumbled, as if it was a secret he was keeping all his life.
"huh?" your brain was firing in a thousand different directions. just a few minutes ago your boyfriend was bleeding in your arms while on the brink of losing consciousness, and even though you were out of immediate danger now, you couldn't take any chances. "jay, we need to disinfect that wound. lay down and i'll go get the materials!"
"only if you promise me you'll let me keep smelling you afterwards." he spoke with full seriousness in a tone only jason todd could manage. it would make your spine shiver if you weren't so worried about him dying.
"yes, yes!" nodding violently, you didn't care about what he requested, as long as if you could help guarantee his safety. "now let me get the supplies β "
finally releasing you once he got a yes, he waited patiently on your bed as you got everything you needed. jason went through the disinfection process extremely well, barely squirming or flinching at your prodding to his fresh wound. tossing the last of the cotton balls you used to clean the injury, you made your way back to your bed, panic finally subsiding and being replaced by a deep sleepiness.
jason immediately dragged you back to bed, holding you with a grip surprisingly strong for a man who just lost several pints of blood. and with that grip, he made you raise your arm just enough so he could snake his face against it, a satisfied look on his face during the entire process.
"...goodnight, jason." you muttered, petting his soft hair with your free hand as you watched him fall asleep. he was probably just acting weird since he was lightheaded from all the blood loss. no big deal, you'll happily ignore what happened tonight just for him. and at that, you quickly joined him in rest.
turns out, he was not acting that way because of major injuries. as the days passed ever since that night, he would get increasingly bolder with his enthusiasm to sniff you. it went from slightly raising your arm for a short sniff, to cuddling you into lifting your arm as high as it can go and face planting himself into the crevice.
one of the worst parts is that he genuinely could not care less about how you smell, as long as it has your signature scent that's branded into your skin. jason will bury himself into you regardless of if you showered, or just got back from going outside. he will immediately carry you back to the bed so he can get his fix no matter what, sweat be damned.
you sighed as you continued to be pinned onto the bed through your boyfriend's snug hug, slowly starting to accept your fate for the night. well, at least jason always went to sleep with a smile on his face whenever you were practically wrestled in to giving your smell to him for the night. you'd always do anything to make him smile.
peering over, you watched as he slowly drifted to sleep once again, as if he was the most content man in the world. instead of escaping, you decided to just join your dear boyfriend in rest. basking in the warm feeling of his body next to you, and relaxing into the muscular arms wrapped around you, you quickly fell asleep peacefully alongside jason, with the same happy look on your face.
Hi! I'm gender fluid, would you mind if I followed you?
hello! i don't mind at all, don't worry. while my blog is definitely more focused on binary male readers, queer people of all sorts are welcome here. cishet people are even welcome too, as long as if they understand the content of this blog isn't going to be made for them.
THANK YOU FOR THE QUEER VARKA/ITTO!!!! THEY ARE TURBO BISEXUAL TO ME THANK YOU IT WAS A WONDERFUL READ
of course! funnily enough i also headcanon varka and itto as bisexual/pansexual. the entire reason i made this blog was because i wanted to give male readers the content we lacked, and i'll definitely make more writing pieces with varka and itto! stay tuned...
πππππ :: how he'd react to having you as his first male crush.
π ππππππππ β varka & arataki itto x male reader.
πππππ !! reader is described as a relatively masculine man that happens to have a pretty face. inazumans gossip and are standoffish to reader for liking men.
β€ΝΝΝΝ β§ πππππ
varka never wrote off the idea of himself being attracted to men, but it wasn't something that had happened to him yet. every person he's been interested in during his entire life was a woman, and he has lived a very long and full life. usually, when people have been around the dating scene for as long as he had, the possibility of suddenly being attracted to an entirely different gender was off the table.
at least that's what he thought, until he came back from his expedition and saw you on an unassuming afternoon. varka always knew that mondstadt would change in the years he was away, but he never expected to find the prettiest man he's ever seen to suddenly move in. for a moment, a breath hitched in his throat as he watched how the sun hit your face as you bought some fruits at the market. he would have kept staring forever if klee didn't drag him to the gate so they could play in the forest.
as he tried his best to stop klee from terrorizing the local sealife, his mind kept wandering to you. he was very sure you were a man, given your stature, your fashion, and how you carried yourself. varka was very sure you were a guy. varka was also 100% sure you were the most gorgeous sight to have ever met his eyes. it was a very new situation that he had found himself in.
the second that albedo came by to finally pick klee back up, he practically ran to the knights' headquarters so he could gather information on you from every member he saw. itβs times like these where he appreciated the perks of being the grandmaster.
jean said you were someone that came to live in mondstadt some time after the traveller defeated dvalin, but she ran off to submit some papers to the library before varka could ask more. amber mentioned you were a friendly but distant guy that always volunteered to help the knights out when they needed extra hands. the rest of the knights didn't have much information on you as they were so busy with the workload after the expedition, but mika remarked that the knight you interacted with most was kaeya.
varka immediately tracked kaeya down in springvale, trying his best to disguise his heavy breathing as a consequence of him running all the way there. "hey, kaeya! how's the cavalry captain of the knight of favonious?"
"well, grand master, i'd be better if there was cavalry to lead." kaeya, seeming unfazed by the sudden appearance of the grand master in a small town outside of the city, simply smirked knowingly at varka. "are you here to ask about the new resident?"
varka sputtered for a second, trying his best to act dumb by smiling casually, like he hadn't been interrogating half the knights for information. "what? who? i didn't know we had a new resident!"
kaeya was amused at his poor attempt to lie. "you're really too honest for your own good, grand master. plus, rumors spread far faster in the knights than you'd think." he crossed his arms, a relaxed expression painted on his face. "he's a resident that moved in from one of the neighboring nations because of the job opportunities in the city. he currently works as a deliveryman for dawn winery, but he's had several jobs in the past before you returned."
varka's eyes widened in slight surprise at the information being given when he hasn't even asked yet, but still nodded along intently as kaeya kept talking. "he prefers to keep his distance from most people, as he's not a local to mondstadt. i only became close with him because i help him out with deliveries when i can. he's a very friendly and understanding man once you can break down his walls."
"and yes, he is single. he also prefers to be with men." kaeya gave varka a cheeky grin as he finished off his exposition with two jackpots. "lucky you, grand master."
a light blush made its way to the tip of varka's ears, a rare flustered expression on the face of the mighty knight of boreas. "...thank you, kaeya." he cleared his throat, trying to brush off the flush on his skin. "you think i'm the type of guy he'd go for, though?"
varka may have had previous dating experience, but this was new territory he was stepping on, he wasn't sure what men like you would find in future partners. his pondering was interrupted with a huff from kaeya.
"grand master, regardless of man or woman, anyone would be drawn to you." the tone kaeya took on as he spoke sounded like he was saying the most obvious thing in the world. "plus, i can put in a good word for you, if you'd like."
varka perked up at that offer. the man you're the closest with in the entire city would vouch for him, which would undoubtedly give him a foot in the door. it would make things a lot easier for him, but... " though that's very kind of you, i'll pass. i should manage to charm him with just myself, it wouldn't be very knightly of me to have to push my way into someone's heart and involve one of my subordinates."
"alright, suit yourself." as if kaeya expected that answer, he just shrugged. "though i will say, i never expected you to be interested in men. your history never suggested such."varka nodded at the assumption.
"yeah, i didn't too, honestly. i've lived so many years, and had the blessing to be in so many relationships with women." he thought of his past relationships with fondness for the intimacies and vulnerabilities they shared, but your beautiful, wistful face basked in the gentle sun came to mind, shadowing over his past affections. he smiled at the image of you. "but there's always new things to learn about yourself, aren't there? i'm not so old that i can't learn new tricks."
"ha, good point." kaeya gave him a nod, a pleased look on his face. "well, if you want to start your new journey now, he should be at angel's share right now, stocking the wine barrels."
"much appreciated, kaeya!" varka started getting ready to make his journey back, bracing himself for another run across the nation so he wouldn't miss his opportunity. "see you around, ill be sure to have you return to your cavalry duties soon." seeing kaeya smile and wave him goodbye as a response, he immediately started booking it back.
turns out, the possibility of him dating men was not off the table. he just has a very particular type of guy he likes: masculine pretty men. which, lucky for him, you perfectly fit the bill for.
itto was always an open minded guy. he never judged others for things lesser men would start rumors over. he himself always struggled with being outcast by society for things he couldn't control, and he vowed to never become a man that ostracized others.
so, naturally, he approaches people who are treated like how he was in order to extend a helping hand. which is how he ends up in a small teahouse at the edge of town, trying to find a specific waiter who's been having rumors spread around about him.
people have been gossiping to each other about a male worker here who liked men β often remarking that they feel uncomfortable around him, or that they asked for a different waiter if he was assigned to their table initially. it all sounded so belittling and insulting that itto needed to reach out, just to let you know that despite the reputation he and his gang had, you were always welcome with them.
the service here was taking terribly long, though. he's been sitting around for a good few minutes, waiting for a random server that wasn't you to show up so that he could request to meet you. he huffed to himself as he stared out the windows, losing himself in thought to pass the time.
the thought of caring so much about someone elses' dating preferences was so strange to him. he was a person who has only ever been attracted to women, yet he doesn't think its weird at all if someone liked men instead. it really wasn't a big deal, and it puzzles him as to why random customers would be so bothered by it and feeling the need to tarnish your name. you were probably just a regular guy trying to make a living.
just as he was about to get himself worked up again with how inhumane some people could be about others who slightly deviated from the status quo, someone finally walked up to his table. he presumed it was a random waiter, turning away from the window in order to decline the service and ask for you instead.
instead, he was met with the most breathtaking man he's ever seen in his life. the words died on his tongue before he could ever get it out, with only a weak stutter being heard as his face turned a slight pink. "good afternoon, sir. are you ready to order?" you smiled politely at him, waiting for a typical response a customer would usually give.
all you heard from him was a bunch of weak sputtering that you couldn't quite make out. his face was quickly becoming the shade of a beetroot as he continued to stare at you. god, you hoped it wasn't one of those fuming customers again who cared so much about you liking guys. "...sir? are you alright?" hiding your dread at being targeted, you try to just check up on him.
"uh β uhhhh..." he mumbled under his breath while he continued to stare at you. you rubbed your arm anxiously, waiting for a snide remark. watching your movements, itto quickly coughed once he saw you were uncomfortable, trying to snap himself out of it. he probably looked like a creep right now.
"sorry, sorry. just, uh. got caught off guard!" he smiled widely at you, scratching the back of his head in a nervous habit. "no, im not here to order anything. just here to ask about a certain waiter, if he's around." itto explained as he still stole glances of you, trying to commit your image to memory.
the pretty scene of you was dampened as you sighed, frowning deeply. "if you're here to ask for the waiter that is "attracted to men", you're looking at him." pinching your nosebridge, it was clear the encounter you're envisioning has happened a few times already. "and if you're here to lecture me about my preferences, i'd really rather you not. it's unnecessary and rude."
itto, despite still being awestruck at your beauty, very quickly started waving his arms in protest. "what? no, no! im not here to lecture you!" he laughed to ease the tension. "im really sorry if i gave you that impression. thats the complete opposite of what im here for, i swear!" itto raised his hands emotively, as if surrendering to you.
"...oh." you sighed in relief, knowing you didn't have to bring in your boss to deal with another rude customer. "im so sorry about the assumption, sir. its just β" you sighed, a tired smile on your face. "been a rough few weeks. anyways, whats your order?"
he felt his heart break a little at your somber tone. no man deserved to be belittled publicly at his place of work, no less a man as ethereal as you. "man, sorry about that. people can be a real thorn when they don't like who you are." once again laughing to break the tension, he related all too well. "but no, iβm not here to order anything, iβm just here to check up on you."
you tilted your head in slight confusion, unknowingly making itto's heart skip a beat. "check up on me?" a small smile came across your lips at the thought of a stranger caring enough to stop by and ask how you were. "thatβs sweet, sir. but i can assure you, i can handle myself. people will find new topics to talk about soon enough." you chuckled.
your laugh sounded like music to itto's ears, his face being in a permanent state of pink as he talked to you. "yes! of course, of course." he said in a volume a bit too loud for a casual interaction. "i just have a gang of people who haven't been treated to well by other people too! so, if you ever need support, we're always here for you." he pitched his gang, with a slight flustered hitch still to his voice.
"ah, yes. the arataki gang, am i right?" you gave him a warmer smile, relaxing now that you know a man much taller and stronger than you wasn't about to start nagging you about liking something he didn't. "i really appreciate the thought and the effort, but i promise i'm doing fine."
itto nodded along, half listening and half paying attention to the way your eyelashes bat as you blink. "for sure, definitely." he cleared his throat again, trying to bring himself back to earth while an angel was in front of him. "and i'm not necessarily asking you to join us! we're always available if you just need some company for a bit, you know?"
laughing softly at his eagerness, you tried to keep up your professionalism while this handsome man's kindness was actively tearing it down. "ill definitely keep it in mind if i need it, mr. arataki itto." you gave him a thumbs up with a smile. the sight made his cheeks warmer. "now, are you sure you wouldn't want to order anything? iβll give you a secret discount if you do." whispering the last part to him, you wanted to return some generosity to the man who came all this way to make sure you were alright.
he hummed in thought, as if pondering on what to order, when he was actually just staring at you again. "well, iβm sure the boys would like something from here..." he trailed off, looking at the menu with one half of his focus and using the other half to keep an eye on you still.
by the time the sun was setting, itto was carrying five bags of takeout back to the gang, a silly smile on his face as he thought back to the sound of your laugh and the beauty of your face. itto couldn't care less that he spent a little too much money just to stay a bit longer and talk with you, he deems it completely worth it.
not once throughout the entire night does it even pop into his brain that you were a man, and for the first time ever, he was dreaming about being with a man. does he care that he's never liked a guy before you? no, because he's way too busy imagining how to "naturally" stumble into you in the future and "subtly" invite you to dinner. does he care if other people may judge him for staring at you? definitely not, because they already judge him for less, and he stopped caring a long time ago.
and surprisingly, itto also doesn't care for the gender of whoever he likes as much as he thought he did just a few hours ago. man or woman β as long as it was someone who was kind and understanding, with strong morals and a want to help others.
...though, your gorgeousness was a much appreciated bonus as well!
