Realizing I never shared the obsessive little Myst island I made in ACNH! Extremely proud of the little details, all of which take up an obscene number of my island’s custom design slots😬👍

My final piece for my illustration class! A travel poster for Teledahn.
Aw I love it!
More Obduction Thoughts (Spoilers)
I’ve finally been able to put together enough bits of time to compete the game so forgive me if this conversation is old and the questions already answered.
I’m not sure if it’s ever explicitly stated that the Mofang weapon was an explosive but the plan to return it to them was pretty well stated by Josef in his journal….
“There is an odd justice to Farley’s plan in that whatever the Mofang bastards send to kill us, will be returned back to them.”
As to the history of the conflict I was pretty disappointed that Cyan didn’t make that accessible. The fact that there was an in-world written record of the history, which was again noted by Josef, something I took to be a hint that we could find said record later in the game and get the back story from it, was just a big unfulfilled tease. There’s no good reason for the Mofang wanting to kill EVERYBODY ever detailed in-game. Knowing Cyan I’m sure they did come up with valid story reasons, but why leave them out of the game?
“I have decided to bring some of the more important mayors’ logs with me for chambering. Specifically the initial Hunrath log, and then the logs that document the history of our conflict with the Mofang.”
Don’t tell me about them if I can’t read them!!!! Lol
Right?? That was a massive faux pas imho, what’s the point beyond frustrating players? After 23 years spent conditioning us to treat journals and documents like the highest reward, even…
The Mofang device sort of explodes in the bad end where you don’t disable it, that pretty much defines it in-game - and it’s called “WMD” by the OST!
As for the reason behind the attack, after the initial frustration I’ve grown to appreciate their choice not to spell it out. Both because the setting and plot end up being the game’s final puzzle in a way, the toughest one to patch all together in a cohesive picture… and because having to think about it without a clear-cut answer makes it more meaningful to me. There are hints, there is a spectrum of possible interpretations that resonate with different people. And there’s that Lynch quote I really like about endings being horrible things, because the moment you get the whole clear picture you can wrap it up and stop thinking about it…
Obduction spoilers continue! ICO is a game that haunted me forever because we get only the traces of explanations and never truly understand what is happening as it's happening, which puts us perfectly in his position. So I agree it's a fine tactic to leave some things open for interpretation. I gathered a two-part meaning to the showcase vista of Terran destruction outside the Soria sphere. At first I thought the Mofang had done it somehow, but after a beat I realized the humans had quite possibly done it to themselves, and the Mofang had witnessed. From the view, we get the answer to whether Earth is home anymore, a reason for Hunrath's removal from Earth (though not any understanding of the factor of Time, considering the residents rescued from a presumably intact future Earth), and a possible motive for the Mofang. Ruminating on what they saw outside the dome could have led them to conclude humans are too dangerous, possibly that all other species are too dangerous to trust. I'd still like to know if the Mofang inside their swapped sphere had any connection with the Mofang on their homeworld, because they didn't seem to have many resources there...

Rivenese home decor project finally being realized thanks to GlowForge. Contact paper is still on the wood, and there’s much painting and texturing to do, but I’m having a great time learning how to do this. I’m very excited. 😬

I’m almost all set up and running smooth with the Myst Machine. I have all…nine…games up and running. Still want to do some futzing with Riven to see if I can’t get the DVD-quality assets in there somehow, but all seems to be well at this point.
So now I’m focusing more on the aesthetics. I’ve made (or found) nicer icons for all of the games with the exception of Exile, Revelation, and the original realMyst. For these, I’m kind of at a loss.
The theme so far has been key props from the games - Myst and Riven are their respective linking books, End of Ages is the tablet, journey cloth and ki for uru CC and MOUL, respectively. The amulet seems like the obvious choice for Revelation, but I can’t find a high quality image of the thing, and I have zero ideas for Exile beyond one of the Narayani symbols.
Any ideas?

i forgot keta has a canon actress!!!!!! YES YES YES more family tree headcanon ability
is the other guy supposed to be aitrus? except i dont think he made it to being an older man (by d’ni standards) right ;;;, also the clothes look too similar to gehn’s own riven outfit (unless gehn modeled after the picture?)
also he looks too mean i dont wanna think aitrus looked that mean
cool eyes tho
Gehn based his outfit on Guild uniforms so that’s the reason for the similarities! But he does indeed look too old, yeah.
The other guy is indeed Aitrus but his canon "actor" never knew he played the part. It's a very slightly photoshopped (eyes) public domain photo of an officer from the Civil War, if I remember correctly.
Here is Part 2 of the illustrated Proper Use and Handling of Your New Star Fissure! Plus, a bonus tip that wasn’t in the original text post.
