Overall this is visually helpful to see the whole timeline, since multiple universes are central to the story. Some things to keep in mind though, to add onto the other post.
- Starting at events 6 and beyond, whenever the story is back to the stuck-in-time Clow, it does not take place in the alternate Clow timeline that was created from Tsubasa’s wish (aka where Fujitaka is an archaelogist, not king, and adopts C!Syao). Rather, it is actually the frozen time of the original Clow timeline, where Tsubasa first met Princess Tsubasa. This was inaccessible and hidden after time turned back in Clow.
In truth, there were three Sakura’s (not counting CCS!Sakura who gives her star wand away)
1. The original, Princess Tsubasa, the one who was cursed to die on her 14th birthday and, upon the seven years rewind, is trapped in frozen time as a 7 y.o. before FWR’s curse is properly sealed on her.
2. The alternate original Princess Tsubasa, placed in the alternate Clow timeline. She is the one who grew up with C!Syaoran, became best friends, and fell in love with each other, much like how she fell in love with Tsubasa Li. When she activated the powers in the ruins, the clone was then made by replicating her body and soul, and FWR “imprisons” her much like Tsubasa Li. In the end, this Princess Tsubasa’s body was destoryed by FWR, while her unconscious soul was kept in a container…which was never accounted for again. (This easily missed detail was explained by FWR, as told to Kyle in the aftermath of C!Sakura’s death in Nihon, and the reveal she is also a clone created in the beginning.) *
3. And C!Sakura. Right after alt. Tsubasa-hime was cloned through the powers, she was the one who Syaoran rescues in the ruins, and the one whose memories were released as feathers. Syaoran never knew she wasn’t the same as the princess he knew as children. Despite that, Sakura truly falls in love with Syaoran.
After her body was stolen by Kyle in Nihon, it merges with the frozen state of 7 y.o. Princess Tsubasa, allowing Tsubasa-hime to wake up and successfully survive. Through the Li’s (Tsu’s parents) sacrifices and magic powers, the original Clow timeline is fully restored.
* Although that’s fucked up of FWR, this alternate Tsubasa-hime, much like King Touya, was never really existent. So despite the horribleness that FWR is, do not despair over the alt. Sakura’s fate. The restored Clow timeline ensures ALL of Clow’s inhabitants, royal and not, are alive and stable.
