so many little triggers bring me back to the worst experience of my life
i see it, it still happens years later, but i am getting better
Ahn Doo Jin - Lake, 2014
Everyone who has sexually assaulted or abused me is living freely, presenting as a good person, not accountable. In the most egregious (but not at all uncommon) case I've lived through, he is doing GENDER JUSTICE work at an international organization. Today, I am tired.
hard day.
hard day: none of my abusers will be held accountable. just had a disappointing conversation about the one doing gender justice work at @oxfam in kenya (note, his first name rearranged spells "evil"). i wish that i could protect everyone from sexual assault, narcissistic abuse, and the negative consequences that follow.
remembering sabotage
this is an interesting trigger coming up now:
i'm remembering now when my abuser was attempting to sabotage my job interview a little over 2 years ago
abusers like to do this - instigate unnecessary fights to rattle you; ensure you are not confident or independent
or to go behind your back somehow to derail an opportunity you are excited about (the biogeochemistry professor, woman, in UC Santa Barbara's geography dept, also did this to me)
abusers will go “i would never do that” while doing it, having done it, and planning to do it again
getting some valid critiques but also lots of harassment from folks who did not like that I tagged posts with narcissistic abuse, NPD, and/or ASPD
i'm glad to be made aware of issues / ableism in order to change my behavior, so am appreciative of suggested edits - i have grown since first learning/posting about this when it was happening to me in an acute form, and since then, learning best language to use
but, def welcome better ways to engage than saying narcissistic abuse isn't real (*my understanding is that even people without NPD can engage in this specific pattern of abuse, and that naming it rather than just saying "abuse" is important for awareness, and has been important for me, in understanding what to look out for and avoid*), publicly telling me not to use certain tags and engaging in intimidation/mocking campaigns, or screenshotting and reposting my personal thoughts with incorrect interpretations.
if you want to suggest i correct something, send me a message. just please don't come here compounding harm.
