Our president has been charged with misconduct through the only proccess that is outlined in our constitution (impeachment). The next step in the process is that the president goes on trial. Republicans in the senate, where the trial will take place, have already said they have made up their minds and will vote based on bias. They have stated that it will be a quick trial with no witnesses and a guaranteed vote on acquittal. The democrats, who control the charges, have said that they will not release the charges to the senate until fair rules have been established. Republicans seem shocked by this turn of events

Low cal goulash - 292 cal (4 servings)

- 10 gr olive oil (90)

- 2 small onions, diced (91 gr; 33 cal)

- 7 gr mild sweet paprika powder (25)

- 2 gr fennel seed (7)

- 2 gr cumin seed (9)

- 4 gr nigella seed (14; I used fennel, cumin, and nigella because they are substitutes for caraway, which I don't have. If you do, just sub with half a tbsp of caraway)

- 317 gr pork tenderloin, cubed (330)

- 400 gr can of tomato cubes (92)

- 1 tablet of beef bouillon (34)

- 424 gr potatoes, peeled and halved (365; 600 gr unpeeled)

- 216 gr carrots, peeled and chopped (71; 300 gr unpeeled)

- 1 orange bell pepper, diced (115 gr; 32 cal)

- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced (124 gr; 29 cal)

- 1 whole bunch of celery, tops and bottom removed, stalks chopped (275 gr; 39 cal)

In a massive pan, heat the oil and add the onions. Once onions are glassy, add spices. Once spices are fragrant, add meat and let brown for a couple minutes, then add bouillon and make sure that all the brown bits have lifted from the bottom of the pan. Add can of tomatoes and all the veggies. Add water until veggies are almost all underwater, so they'll cook properly. Once the goulash starts boiling, turn heat to low and let simmer for 1.5-2 hours. Enjoy!

This recipe makes for 4 good sized servings, or 3 massive ones. I had to use the largest pan I own because this was more than I anticipated.

Also good cold, according to my (drunk) boyfriend.

Mental Crop Rotation

When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.

To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”

So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.

Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.

: A crucial part of crop rotation is that the field is let fallow sometimes. You plant what’s called a “cover crop”, which is something you don’t expect to harvest– it’s there for its roots to hold the soil in place, and often it’ll be what’s called a nitrogen-fixer, i.e. a plant that can pull nitrogen out of the air and fix it into the soil with its roots (but sometimes it won’t, sometimes it’s really just there to shelter the soil surface), and then you’ll till in that cover crop, or let the frost kill it and the stalks lie as mulch, and then you’ll rotate productive crops back into that field the next season. 

It’s important, though, to understand that during the fallow period, no nutrients are removed from that ground, and nothing is expected of it. Whatever the land grows then, it keeps, and it gets tilled back in or decomposes in place, to return its energy to the earth.

We’re not allowed, in our current society, to just let our minds be fallow for a bit, to produce nothing for export, to make nothing that can be sold. But it’s part of good land stewardship, to give every field time when it doesn’t need to give you anything back. 

So yes, grow and produce different things from time to time, rotate them around your mind and exercise different mental muscles, take different things from your creative processes, yes– but also, give yourself a fallow spell now and again, and let the field of your mind grow things for itself to keep, to break down and save for later.

my asshole cat once again comes to me and does his usual indications for “hey, there’s a problem I need you to fix, please help.”

because I love him and he is weirdly smart and actually really good at figuring out problems and getting help (like when he lets me know the bird feeder is empty because he wants to watch the birds) I trustingly get up and follow him.

he reaches the window, outside of which is a thunderstorm. he is very afraid of thunderstorms, and normally does not go anywhere near the windows when they happen. upon reaching the window he indicates in his usual fashion, “here is the problem, please fix it.”

no idea whether to be flattered and endeared that my cat thinks I control the weather, or frustrated because my cat is now mad at me for refusing to control the weather on his behalf. this is the second time this has happened.

I made it to my UGW

My bmi is now 19.5. I feel absolutely no sense of accomplishment regarding having achieved this weight. I think that is because for a while now I have been working on my recovery, slowly upping my calorie limit each week, and challenging myself with things I find scary (e.g. letting my boyfriend cook for me, eating at restaurants, eating things that don’t have any nutrition information stated, not planning my meals days in advance, even not knowing what I will eat for dinner until I start cooking). I’m not going to lower my ugw. I’m not sure if I even should have a “goal” weight. I think an increase in my health and happiness is a much better goal to have than trying to decrease myself and my impact on the world. Even if progress is more difficult to quantify than stepping on a scale. I’m scared but determined.

Calling my trans siblings that do injections (and anyone else that does regular self-injections)!

This is a ShotBlocker. It’s perfect if you have a fear of needles, injections, injection pain, or any other kind of injection anxiety. You place the plastic spikes on your skin and firmly press them down while doing your injection. Having many different points of pressure distracts you from injection pain and I’ve found it helps mentally as well.

I’ve been doing T injections for about a month now and tonight I didn’t have to work myself up to it like I’ve had to in the past. AND it wasn’t as painful as my other injections! I highly recommend getting one of these if you’re struggling to do injections. You can get them for $5-$7 online and they are reusable.

beep beep sometimes when you have been in survival mode for a long time the parts of you dedicated to Wanting Things atrophy and you forget how to envision a future that feels rewarding because you are busy with the business of staying alive, and it can seem like your life must be pointless because you can’t imagine any long term goals. sometimes even when you leave survival mode you can’t remember how to Want Things. that doesn’t mean you need to give up on having a good and fulfilling life, it just means that Wanting Things is a muscle you need to gradually strengthen. the part of you that has dreams and aspirations is still there, it just fell asleep, but if you wiggle it enough it can and will regain feeling. it’s okay to start small

Is it normal to gain on 1200-1250 cal a day? I've been eating between 1150-1200 for a month or two, and less than that the couple months before that. I'm not underweight (bmi 19.9), and my tdee should be between 1600-1700. I'm trying to recover but this is making it unnecessarily stressful :(

I made some honey rosemary frog bread

So I made beorn's honey cake, and let me say its fucking bomb. It's a little spicy with the cardamom and cinnamon but it's really honey sweet too so it definitely needs the spices.

Y'all should try it especially if you like cornbread and honey. Super tasty!!!! Heres the recipe from Gobble the Cook.

I used powdered cardamom and next time I'll use more powdered cinnamon too because it really brings out the flavor better. And I used two cinnamon sticks instead of one and a 1/2 cup of honey instead of fourth and it came out pretty amazing.
