I'm currently a stay at home mom. I finished nursing school at NYU and then decided to give birth a month later. I live with my husband Adam, he is tall, handsome, generous, an amazing dad. We also live with our baby boy Bram. He is our main man and the happiest and giggliest baby around.

Bram is 15 Months old!

Well, he is currently nearly 18 months old ... but between Bram's hospitalization, a trip back east to see all 4 sets of grandparents and a trip to Alaska for grandpa's 60th birthday I have gotten quite behind! 

First the 15 month stats:

Bram was 32 inches tall and his weight was maybe around 22 lbs (but it fluctuated because of his hospitalization) and even though he was super sick he was still super sweet, super silly and very chatty. The kind of chatty that no one knows what he is saying, just that it is important. 

the big thing: BRAM STARTED EATING SOLIDS!  After 7  long and frustrating days in the hospital we finally had an answer. Bram has allergies.. major allergies (eggs, barley, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts are the major ones), delayed gastric emptying and reflux. Which just so happened to be the three things I had written down to ask our pediatrician about at our 15 month appointment.  Turns out  that thing everyone tells new moms is true: trust your instincts.  Bram began vomiting and was unable to even hold liquid down. He ended up dehydrated and hospitalized after being sent home from one hospital and once from our pediatrician.  We were probably told Bram had a viral infection and to wait it out about 50 times until someone (a GI consult we begged for) finally listened and we were able to understand what had been going on with Bram for the past 7 months. After some of the longest and hardest days of our lives we were finally discharged with lots of new meds. When we got home Bram was eating like he had been doing it for months! He is still an incredibly picky eater but I will take this any day to where we were before. I am so grateful to finally know whats going on with my baby boy and so happy he has an amazing team of doctors monitoring him now. 

So, at 15 months Bram mastered eating pepperoni, salami, quinoa and cookies (hey, the fact that he is even asking for food deserves cookies).  He was saying, "mama" "dada" "outside" "me go" "no!" "yeah!" signing "more" and "all done" and saying a ton of stuff we didn't quite understand but we were sure it was prolific.

Bram is 12 Months old!

Can you believe it? I can't ! (probably because he is 13 months old).

I figured it was time to deal with this development because as it turns out months keep flying by. I am so grateful to have had him for these past 12 (13) months.  They have been filled with so much joy, fulfillment and sleeplessness. The sleeplessness is a stupid part though. 

At 12 months Bram weighed 22 pounds and a few ounces and was 30 inches tall. He got four shots in his arms (no more thigh shots) and he didn't even cry. The nurse and I were very confused. At 12 months he took a step or two (at 13 months he is officially walking) at 12 months old he had four teeth and the next two followed quickly. Then yesterday a molar randomly popped through. Figures Bram's teeth wouldn't come in order. He hates doing things in order. Like sleeping in an orderly fashion for multiple hours in a row.

Bram's eating has SLOWLY been improving. He now eats noodles and curried soup and yogurt and purees.  One day I hope he learns to chew and share my love of cheese.   

Happy Birthday to our sweet baby boy.  You have taught me so much about myself, about love and about family.  I wished for a baby on every birthday cake I had since I was six and you are far better than I ever could have wished for.

Some things I've learned

If any of you readers (all four of you) are you doing math then you know Bram has certainly turned 12 months old and that I didn’t do a 12 month update. This is all true. But what is also true is my denial is strong and I am simply not ready for that post. But, I will be someday soon I bet. Instead I decided I’d write a list of things I learned in the past dozen months or so. These things hold true for me and most likely not anyone else since everyone else’s baby seems to sleep and eat and things of that nature.

1. If before you were pregnant and you loved sleeping 13 hours every weekend night and then waking up, ordering a bagel delivery while watching Saturday Night Live and then putting yourself down for another 3 hour nap and then having no plans for the rest of the day and your partner “got bored” “wanted to do something” or woke you up with a list of plans/errands/ideas for the day then you are like me. Then if you got pregnant and thought, “this is perfect” my husband will now have someone to get up early with in the morning, get me bagels and play while I sleep and lounge then you’d also be my like me. But what I learned is that doesn’t happen. Suddenly mr busybody early bird ants in his pants suddenly also wants to lounge and sleep in on weekends when he becomes a father. Turns out being a dad is just as tiring as not being a mom but also being lazy was for me.

2. You know that thing people tell you when you are super sleep deprived and your baby is up a million times a night to nurse? You know that thing where “don’t worry, one morning you will wake up in a panic because it’s 7:30am and you haven’t woken up once by a crying, hungry baby because your baby suddenly and magically slept thought the night”? Well I learned that moment may never come. Sorry.

3. I learned I don’t actually need 15 hours a night of sleep. Usually just 3 or 4 is all I need to be alive.

4. I learned that birth plans are jokes. Along with peepee teepees, 12 month olds sitting through a dinner at a restaurant nicely and the idea of not letting a baby change things. They change things and seriously they change things for the better. Maybe we don’t go on our Friday date nights out and about like we used to but a Friday night bathing our baby together and then putting him to bed and eating dinner, having wine, watching him on the video monitor and catching up on all our shows is my favorite date night anyway. Throw in a back rub and I’m the happiest lady on the planet. Well, throw in a back rub and being a pregnant person again and I am pretty sure I would actually be the happiest lady on the planet. Adam you reading this? Happy wife happy life, am I right? Please.

5. I also learned you can try and do everything right but you can’t and there will still be little hiccups:. Hospital stays, surgeries, physical therapy, occupational therapy and a baby who will only nurse or eat tortilla chips.

6. I learned that leaving your baby for a couple hours may not be that easy. And even not easier if your baby won’t take a bottle. And the not easiest if your baby is Bram and you are me (crazy). I really thought things would be different and that at this point I’d be ready to leave him for multiple hours at a time during the day without having a panic attack and thinking my heart is breaking just thinking of it. And that I would not only be ready to do that but be excited to do that. I still think that time will come its just taking a bit longer than expected. Buuut, I have promised my loving husband more dates and putting Bram to bed and having a sitter is pretty painless and dates with Adam are not only painless but wonderful and I can watch his monitor on my phone anyway. So there is also that.

I also learned some other stuff too I’m sure…. But Bram just woke up and he is dying to go run errands.

Bram is Turning one.

Today Adam asked me "Have you thought about your one year blog post" I replied, "No. Don't want to." I really don't and I have a terrible time feigning excitement for Bram's first birthday. It's truly killing me. Now I know this probably sounds horrible. I am so lucky to have a healthy baby boy that I get to see grow (grow - not eat - still hates that) and when I was pregnant with him and felt like the luckiest girl in the world that my dream came true. I told myself I'd never cry because he was getting older. But it turns out I am huge liar.  I have a had quite a few tears/sobs this week.  I seriously try to be strong/ignore my feelings but I can't help it.  It went by so fast. Way too fast. When I was crying to Adam I told him I felt like I did't embrace it. He was so little, so sweet, he had literally no control over any part of his body and it was precious.  I worry I didn't hold him enough, smell him enough, stare at him enough, take him out enough, read to him enough, sing to him enough - you get it. I'm crying again.  Well, Adam reminded me that I have probably been away from Bram for a total of 8 hours in his first year - and the lunatic in me wants those 8 hours back. Like now.

Today when Bram was playing on the floor I kept trying to memorize every part of his little face, his smile, his little legs, his little tukhus in his diaper - but the almost one year old didn't want his mother staring at him like a creep. He much preferred throwing blocks at her. The throwing thing is for another blog post when I am less weepy and whiney and not making a terrible cry face I keep noticing in the reflection on the computer.

^^ Bram went into a pool for the first time this week and he also gave his first wet willie. 

I think the realization of him being a year is also making me REALLY think about number two. I mean, I have literally thought about number two (through 10) since Bram was about a week old but now I am for real thinking about it... Like I need it. Which led me to an internet wormhole about secondary infertility, about how my eggs are like dying super fast now that I am 31 and a bunch of other scary things. The internet can be such a mean place. But really all these things are moot considering the amount of nursing Bram does is certainly not going to make a baby possible. Oh, and also the sweet husband of mine isn't on my exact timeline.  Which is pretty standard for us. I procured an email address with his last name about a year before he proposed and every time he bent down to tie his shoe for the six months prior to proposing I would just blurt out "Yes!!! Adam, the answer is yes!!" (In my defense on all the big stuff Adam has said my timeline was correct.)

Eeeeeeeek. I think my sadsies and internet wormholes and Bram turning one have all made me over share. I stop now.

Bram is 11 Months Old!

I have been terrible with this blog lately and I made a resolution to be way better. Which I hope I can follow through with once Bram starts sleeping through the night. Which I was promised by our sleep specialist we are meeting with on Wednesday that he will. Although, in all honesty if it were up to me (which it's not. its up to US. apparently) I would leave this sweet boy in our bed. Buuuut, I tell myself I can't get number 2 till number 1 is in his own bed.  My motivation for really anything do anything I don't want to do these days. Adam needs to somehow convince me vacuuming = having a second baby because we would have way less dust bunnies then.

11 months has been tough. For me. Because it is one month away from being one. I keep thinking of march 23 at 12:14 pm and I cry. So I need to try and not think about it. 

Anyway, about Bram.  He is amazing.  About 29 inches and around 22 pounds. He smiles at everyone, waves hello & goodbye and claps all night long. For real. I hear him clapping in the middle of the night. He crawls everywhere and thinks eating and sleeping for long stretches is for the birds. He loves pulling up on the coffee table so he can throw anything on top of it onto the floor.  We had our first occupational therapy appointment to work on Bram's eating issues (not eating). I am not convinced this is what he needs. I think he just wants his mama's milk for a couple more months is all. I must make some good stuff.

Bram is 10 months old!

Double digits! crazy, right? Still in denial so I am not going to dwell on it too much...Eight days before Bram turned 10 months he weighed 21.5 pounds and was 28.5 inches long.  He was also incredibly cute, sweet and silly. He also had a mouth full of teeth (well, four teeth, but we all have to start somewhere).

He started legit crawling. No more of that army crawling nonsense. He is everywhere now.  He even fell inside a box the other day. Don't worry. He loved it. 

Now that he is so grown up Bram gags on food less. But he still hates it and our pediatrician wants him to see an occupational therapist. He is growing and thriving and gaining weight so no one is too worried. I am pretty sure he just loves nursing and that's ok with me. He also nurses all night long (while he is not sleeping) so his appetite isn't so huge for food either.

^^^ Bram loves Wednesdays because he gets to hang out with his girlfriend Evie and grab at her face.

All I can say is Bram you are ridiculous in all the right ways. You are ridiculously cute, ridiculously funny and you make me ridiculously happy. But it's also a bit ridiculous how fast you are growing up. Please crawl back inside my womb (just kidding. Sort of.).

Los Angeles: I need to complain for a second

First off, LA I love you. I am so happy we live in you. I love what you're doing with the weather, how much Bram gets to be outside and the endless amounts of things we can do. But also, I have complaints (I always do):

1. Why are your drivers so mean to me? I let anyone into my lane with proper warning and a signal. No one lets me in a lane, ever. They just glare at me, honk at me and generally be mean to me. Maybe I need one of those stickers of a little stick figure family so they realize I am just a nice lady with a family. Just kidding, I know I don't need one of those stickers. 

2. Why do people put out their trash cans (maybe just my street) like three days prior to garbage pick up day so that there are no parking spaces available for me? 

3. I realize that grocery bags are bad for the environment (I guess). But, seriously I don't ALWAYS (ever) remember to put in one of my 100 reusable bags in my car. Don't shame me for needing a bag. Don't charge me 10 cents. Plus, if I don't get those bags what will I put all my recyclables in? I am just a mother trying to recycle here. 

4. Also, instead of being really superior about bag usage why not just make better public transportation or have the people of LA not drive everywhere or circle the parking lot like vultures for the closest parking spot. Maybe just walk a little bit people of LA? 

5. Also, spiders. 

6. Also, dog poop.  People are "dog lovers" in LA. They all have them. But they hate having them on leashes or having their poop not all over our sidewalk. 

OK. I am done. I love you again Los Angeles. I do. I love that we get to do this:

Bram is 9 months old!

How did this happen?  Our sweet boy turned 9 months old and with 9 months old came:  still not sleeping at all: Just basically rolling over in his crib all night to practice his new skill of crawling (dragging legs across floor when paper is near).  Now that he is not sleeping at all we have gone the "family bed" route. At least for now. People say sleep is essential and this truly the only way mama can get any. And I love cuddling our baby boy. As these months fly by it becomes more and more evident how quickly it all goes and I want to cherish, hold, cuddle, nurse and smell this little guy s much and as long as he will let me.  Bram weights 21 pounds and has a half-tooth on his bottom gums. Its insanely cute. As much as I ask time nicely it wont slow down. When I realized he was so close to turning one year there was an episode where I cried (nearly hysterically) in public. When Adam asked me nicely to stop crying in public all I could get out through my tears was, "I'll stop crying if you promise we can have at least 3 more." Which he agreed to, whole heartedly. And by whole heartedly I obviously mean desperately. I think I embarrassed him. 

He has become so playful and has so many tricks that he loves to perform for an audience. Current tricks include:

growling

spitting for 60 seconds straight 

Some tricks I think he should work on:

eating without gagging/vomiting

sleeping

not doing this weird crying and then suddenly yelling in terror

We are loving our new life in Los Angeles which turns out is basically just one big farmers market.

We Moved to Los Angeles!

So its pretty clear now that we have moved to Los Angeles! Finally! For years we would visit LA and return to New York City either during the disgusting summer, the dirty, wet, cold winter or the seasons that are just rain and wonder, "Why do we live here?"  Well, there were a million reasons we lived and loved New York City (the take out, the proximity to family, Adam's old company, my nursing School, our wonderful friends that I miss like crazy, and the fact everyone should live in NYC at least once) but Adam accepted a job that just so happened to be identical to what we hoped his next career move would look like and it also just so happened to be in Los Angeles where there are palm trees, succulents galore and tons of wonderful friends.

Our one bedroom Stuyvesant Town apartment was the longest I lived in one location since high school and I never imagined I could be sad about leaving a place after living in so many. But, it was sad to leave me and Adam's first home together, the place Adam proposed, the place I came home to after we got married and proceeded to take a million bobby pins out of my hair and place them on the window sill, the place that Bram came to be, the home we brought Bram back to after the hospital, Bram's first home (as I type this tears are piling in my eyes.) and Bram's first corner to call his own. But, now Bram has in own bedroom that we primarily use for changing him in and storing our extra clothes in and he also has room to crawl around in a circle in. So its fine.

While there are days (most) that I miss NYC, I am so happy to be feeling settled in a new place with my old husband and our newish baby and start to settle down some roots.  Plus, I really have to say Bram is flourishing with all the room here. His circles are getting wider.

Bram is 8 Months Old!

Can you believe it? I can't.  I seriously counted on my fingers because I was sure I HAD to be off a month. How is he already 8 months old?! And still with that adorable gummy smile - Its days are numbered though as I see a little something going on in those gums :(.  I told Adam when he gets teeth it's time for number 2. He ignored me completely which I didn't think was very nice. 

Our sweet boy is growing so big and his personality is getting quite big as well. He is the silliest little guy - laughing hardest when dad does a special twirl for him. He is learning to scoot around (backwards) and I think he is close to maybe even going forward. Sleep-wise he is only good at napping (and only if I lay in bed with him). Gone are our days of long stretches of sleep. In fact, as I type now, he's awake an hour after his bedtime because he was going wild in his crib. Rolling over then crying (because he can't figure out how to get back over or that he can even sleep on his tummy). He is up a few times each night just to kind of welp. When he knows I am around he is pretty much ok. I guess the clingy stage is here.  

He is getting a little better at trying to eat... but is basically just killing time and entertaining me between our nursing sessions. 

He did his usual wake up around 9pm the other night and when I took him out of his crib he was completely drenched. I turned on the light and realized he had puked. When I picked him up he began vomiting pretty heavily. Because of our PTSD with his pyloric stenosis it was off to the hospital for us. They ran some tests, did an ultrasound, gave him zofran and we were finally discharged at 4am. Our boy was so sweet in the hospital. It breaks my heart when he isn't feeling well and he is still the sweetest snuggly boy around.

^^ I mean really? How can a baby who is sick and puking all night still be this sweet?

Living in LA has been so fun and we look forward to our weekends together all week. It's so nice not schlepping all over New York city, all bundled up, without a car or sun. We're really enjoying exploring a new city that has sun and warmth.  It's also great being close to such great friends that we can watch the Giants with (when the Bills aren't on).

^^Bram and I still don't understand the game of football but we try for the sake of this guy. 

^^ Dad brought Bram (and I) this sweet Pomeranian because we all love and miss Ferdie (my pomeranian who lived 17 glorious years). And we both loved it. The thing that we didn't like was that it wasn't real.

Just some stuff sweet baby boy Bram loves

Sometimes it feels like I only mention the things Bram hates like food and bottles and going 3 hours without nursing, even at night. hhrrrumph. But he is also just full of love!  Things bram just simply loves:

1. Paper. He hates food so much but our little goat would eat all the paper in the world if he could.

2. Tags! Any toy that has a tag is basically his fav. Tags must remind him of paper.

3. Pulling my hair straight out of my head. Well, what's left of my hair - tons felt out months 4-7 post partum. Clumps really.

4. Rubbing his thumbs into everything (carpets, shoulders, floors, paper and mommy's skin).

5. Daddy - particularly in the mornings. Can't get enough of that silly man.

6. Morning in general. Which now in LA starts at 3am. Silly Brammyboo

7. Weird sounds. The weirder the better.

8. Watching mama dance whilst she sings. He loves pageantry! 

9. Watching his own hands move right before his very own eyes.

10. Finding cords and waving them violently - is baby proofing real?

All day I have been saying to Bram, "happy being a boy day!" he doesn't care.  He is more interested in squishing his thumbs into different materials.

I know I have said it a million times on this blog buuut seriously time is out of control. I think it's rushing through its job. PLEASE SLOW DOWN.  One year ago today we found out Bram was in fact Bram and not the girl name we had been calling him for 20 weeks (it's ok, it was a great name, I am sure our sweet boy wouldn't mind that name either). It feels like it was just yesterday.  Despite our life being completely different. Adam lived in India, I lived in NYC, was finishing nursing school and no one even knew we were pregnant.

We finally started telling people, slowly. But I was so incredibly nervous. I wanted to have a baby since I was 6 years old, my friend Erica and I played with dolls till we were WAY too old for it to be age appropriate behavior and I wished for it on every birthday cake. I couldn't believe I was pregnant. I didn't want to tell people. It made me so nervous. If it was possible to wait all 40 weeks to tell people I probably would have. Maybe if I get to be pregnant again I will try that. Also, it was this special little secret baby that was just mine and Adam's and I am selfish when it comes to my baby and I didn't want to share him. 

I bought him his first two articles of clothing.  It still feels so special when I put him in them.  I say, "mama bought these for you when she found out you were a boy." Bram could care less though and proceeds to squish his thumbs into things when I tell him these special things. 

Bram grew out of his alphabet pants. Which is sad and he needs a bigger pair. He can still wear his "french pants" Which when adam asked why I spent 75 dollars on a pair of pants for our unborn baby he was somehow satisfied with,  "He loves Paris - just like us! He just loves french stylings" Don't worry that was the last pair of 75 dollar pants we got for him. Buuuut, I was somehow able to con grammy into buying a pair in a bigger size when we saw them in a store in Nantucket and all it took was, "They are his french pants. And he is going to grow out of them. He loves them so much! They were the first things I bought for him!"  Grandparents are the best and Bram is so lucky to have about a million of them around (6 regulars and 6 greats!)

Bram is 7 months old!

You probably thought that Bram has been six months old for the past six weeks but that isn't the case. He turned seven months old the day we packed up our entire apartment in the East Village and moved all the way to Los Angeles (more on that on separate post when I finally get internet/am back to my old self again/can finally catch up on teen mom 3).

Bram changes everyday and seems to figure out new ways to fight sleep. He still can't fight a moving car though. That's his achilles heel. But the stroller and ergo carrier are no match for our sweet baby Bram. He is crafty.

Moving, a three hour time difference and daylight savings really have confused Bram so I really can't comment on sleeping. It's.not.impressive.  But we got a king sized bed so there have been tons of cuddles in bed which makes the waking up at 3am much easier. And boy does he wake up!! He wakes up SCREAMING. Not crying just screeching  And for some reason waking up in a great mood means calling out for "dada." Mama is beckoned mostly in sadness. However, this morning when the screeching wasn't working he started whispering "dada", which was quite possibly the cutest thing one could ever experience at 4:00am. And also now I can use Adam's move, "Nope, he is calling for you. He wants you."

We started solids at 6 months. Buuuuuut, Bram hates food (add it to the list under bottles, sleeping in, rolling over from stomach to back, not pulling my hair). He projectile vomits, gags, refuses to open mouth, or moves his head  away and then decides to vomit on most attempts. It seems like on facebook all the other babies "love food" or "can't get enough" but our boy Bram is strictly a boob man. I joked that I would have to come into kindergarten to nurse him but it's looking more and more like a reality. Its a good thing this boy is so sweet, so silly and so easy to squeeze otherwise the kids that can eat solids and roll around might not want to be friends with the boy who only eats boob.

Bram is 6 months old!

I can't believe how quickly time can move. I also can't believe how happy I am. I really had no idea that my sleepy, TV-loving, self-deprecating self could ever feel this crazy happy, but I can and it's wonderful and also the reason I need 10 more babies ASAP. Husband: get on board now please. 

But anyway... six amazing months have gone by and our boy has grown!!! He is 18.4 lbs and 27.5 inches long and I grew him this big on breast milk and breast milk alone. I would like to continue to only feed him breast milk, but Bram's incredibly generous grandparents got him a high chair (I think they were worried) and Bram's dad would like to participate in nourishing our son so I guess I'll feed him some avocado or pureed butternut squash soon. I have mixed (mostly sad) feelings about all this. But I have to be brave for Bram. I also have to try and be somewhat normal for Bram and teach him how to eat food that doesn't come from my nipple so that someday when he goes off to school he makes friends.  

But I actually think that even if I had to go to Bram's classroom to nurse him he would still make friends. He is so sweet. He rarely cries and when he does it's a simple fix: feed him, let him nap or dance for him (then feed him or let him nap). He loves my dancing. That's because it's very good and Bram has sophisticated tastes. When he is sad he tries to cheer himself up. When he sees a stranger he stares at them until they are forced to make eye contact and then he melts them with his big smile.  He is still blowing tons of raspberries and has discovered some new sounds that he can make. I think he knows how funny he is.  Not much has changed in the sleeping department... still usually wakes around 4:30 for a feed. A new development is his ability to sit up and play! Oh and the biggest: he now rolls over from back to stomach and then scoots himself in a little clockwise circle. Is there anything this boy can't do (Besides counter-clockwise circles? Sleeping through the night? And rolling over from stomach to back?)?

Anyway, thank you Bram for letting me be your mom. You have made me happier than you will ever know and thank you for being a part of our family. It wouldn't work right without you.

So Much!

It has been so long since I last blogged. Things have been very crazy over in the Sachs household... more on that some other day.. but since I last wrote other less crazy things happened.

Adam and I celebrated one year of being married in my favorite US city, Chicago. We use the iPhone app timehop and all our honeymoon pictures were popping up. It literally brought tears to my eyes. We had an amazing honeymoon eating our way around Italy! Since it was such a special occasion I suspended my vegetarian ways and ate cured meats every chance I got.

We reflected back on our decision to elope and have a party to celebrate with friends and family later and there isn't one second that goes by that we regret that decision. Of course, since the thought of planning a dinner for 5 people gives me anxiety we still used a planner for a wedding where Adam and I were the only guests. Our planner helped us to create our dream wedding - an incredibly special, completely stress-free day. Plus I still got a wedding gown!

Bram went to his first music class.  I've noticed that Bram really enjoys music so I figured he would also enjoy a music class! I think he had fun, but it was a lot of stimulation for our super observant, laid back guy.  He can stare at people and things for hours so when there were lots of babies, lots of noise, and a man strumming a guitar Bram was pretty much in a daze. When the parachute came out forget about it, Bram was the only baby hysterically crying. Poor thing.   

Some things that did not happen since I last wrote:

Bram rolling over

Our apartment being clean

Bram consistently sleeping 10-12 hours straight

Bram taking a bottle

Adam emptying his suitcase

Oh I also turned 31. uggh.

When Bram was 5 months old

I still hadn't left Bram with a sitter. He was simply too precious to leave. Oh, well. We didn't know how much he weighed or how long he was because he didn't have any doctors appointments!

He slept from around 7 to 7 with a feeding around 4.  Still couldn't make it the full 12 hours .. but I don't think I could wait 12 hours to hold him anyway. 

His fingers, toes and just about anything went right into his little mouth, but no food yet! It was clear that this little boy was such a sweetheart. He smiled at all of us all the time and stared at strangers till they would smile at him and he would smile as big as he could right back at them.  He wasn't super interested in toys, still would prefer playing a game, bouncing in my lap or just observing people and things. 

  We still loved napping together and occasionally at night he even made his way into bed with mommy and daddy. In turn, occasionally daddy made his way to the couch. 

I wonder how much of his sweet, gentle, happy personality will stick around for the next 200 years. My biggest wish is that the happy will.
