a rainy autumn day

Working on a series that I like to call Self-Care Shin Godzilla.

I first watched Shin Godzilla because his horrific appearance also made me feel sad. His very existence seemed like agony, and I remember wishing I could help him. That film led me to explore other Godzilla and kaiju movies, but Shin remains my favorite. Since I’m also a big skincare nerd, I thought it’d be fun to combine my two loves and draw Shin Godzilla discovering ways to feel better.

"Slugging" Shin's skin is rough, even by Godzilla standards. Cracked, bleeding, I can sympathize with the psoriasis I'm dealing with on my hands. I decided that Shin's first self-care lesson would be moisturizing and slugging. So he has his moisturizing socks and eye patches on and is ready to go with his little jar of Vaseline. Look at how proud his tail is of him! Or maybe it's just thinking about how cute Shin's bow spa headband is.

Kai Hiwatari Headcanons

-Kai won’t get into a relationship until his early twenties, at the earliest.

-He has some Russian ancestry, which makes him slightly ethnically ambiguous

-His scarf has no special meaning, he just likes it, and yes, it was really expensive.

-Kai has offered money to grandpa Granger a few times, because he’s aware hosting a group of teenage boys can get expensive, but the old man has always refused.

-has an opinion on everything

-feels more comfortable with the Bladebreakers than with the Neoborgs in general

-his relationship with his parents is distant, at best

- either he’s not attracted to someone, or he would set a building on fire to get their attention, no in-between

- Kai is aware he’s difficult to deal with.

-His battle with Brooklyn has rendered him legally blind in one eye. It will take him a long time to make peace with it.

-has never said “I love you” to anyone

-can speak English with a perfect posh British English, but most of the time he tones it down

- gets very stupid when he’s in love because his repressed self cannot handle all the feelings

-He can only cook rice and instant noodles.

-doesn’t really swear… except in Russian The “blind in one eye” headcanon is from @iamtrashyartz‘s headcanons list, I love it so much I had to include it.
