If you feel stuck in your affairs, that your sins have piled up too high, that your heart has become too hardened for repentance, knock on the door of Husayn (ع). Sit and listen to the lamentations of those mourning his tragedy, and feel your heart soften. Remember what he sacrificed for the preservation of Truth, and allow yourself to weep. Seek Husayn's ع recourse to God, and see what favor and kindness is conferred upon you.

Some may question the value of ceremonies mourning the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a). They may say, 'If you want to speak about Imam Husayn's (a) movement, then just go ahead and speak about his movement, why all the crying?' This is incorrect. We cannot move forward on this path in the absence of a deep, heartfelt, emotional connection with the infallible Imams. It is of paramount importance. Narrating the tragedy of what occurred to our infallible Imams (a)—particularly the events of the day of Ashura—and hurting for the hurt that they suffered, helps us to fall in love with our Imams, and feel a true friendship with them.
