'Designit' hooked me!

Take a look at this brilliant company! They are serious advertisers on what they do everyday! I could spend all week reading and watching to this awesome legacy. I would definitely choose this company to design my products & services. You can feel they love what they do. They share their point of view through small videos with people talking about their work and philosophy. And it’s growing in me the will to be part of it! J

I moved to the Netherlands last January but I wish I have moved to one of the eleven countries with a 'Designit' office!

I feel delighted with Hayao Miyazaki movies My Neighbor Totoro, is a 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by (the Genius!) Hayao Miyazaki, born in Tokyo on January 5th 1941. Tells the story of two girls who move to the country to be near their ailing mother, and their adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. I often find myself smiling about how real emotions and movements are translated in (t)his movie(s). The characters are for real, their expressions, movements, sensations!... It's such a grateful feeling when you think you have touched the soul of that particular moment! And with his movies that happens all the time, at least with me. Of course it's not all about talented drawing! I think that one needs to be faithful to his values and be truly free to create such movies. It's all about excelling in storytelling. And perhaps never stop seeing with the eyes of a curious children. "I like looking at pretty things and making some of my own." Suddenly she has dolls, diamonds, prismatic glass, mountains, waves, minerals, wood, flowers, monuments, an entire sun, coming out of her hair... "Hauntingly beautiful", as the proper author describes. And we look again and again just to believe it. The aggregation of elements is so familiar and strange simultaneously. All fits in the right place. Do you know the feeling? This feeling when you see a weird mixture of things and you just can't fix your eyes anywhere else because that decontextualized composition makes so much sense?! Well, that's Matt Wisniewski's work. A web developer (and a experimentalist! at least for me) who likes to overlap portraits with natural elements in an unique way. This remembers me a post I published on the 28th September 2012, about people vs places (would you be kind to check it out please). Both concepts touch each other, but the result is totally different and definitely doesn't serve the same purpose.

But listen to this: When you go to an art gallery you can see the name of each piece on the wall, right? You manage to buy your "Monalisa". Take her to your place, hang it on the wall and draw a delightful smile every time you pass by it. Maybe you manage to change places once in a while. Now imagine that your "Monalisa" is a digital artwork located in Internet under a specific domain (unique and time lasting). You wouldn't need to get home to see it nor inviting your friends for dinner... Everyone could appreciate it anytime, but it would be yours exclusively because you paid for that! Wouldn't that be delightfully surprising?! Well that's exactly what Rafael Rozendaal does! He is a visual artist who uses the Internet as his canvas. And he does it really well. I believe he had the vision to avail this Internet consumption era as an excellent start point for his business, and now he does what he likes the most for a living. I love your work, Rafael.

Lots of licking, an ice cream, a bathtub full of water, girls, make the pin, rocks, underwear. It's total nonsense!!

Battle | Ice cream mixed all up with a lot of rhythm and color. Doesn't follow a narrative sequence on video editing, but does what only a few can do: catches our eye and gives us the script to create our own interpretation.

Great job guys!

This documentary it´s worth to be seen! Whether you're a movie buff, a technician who appreciates film tricks, an enthusiastic for the development of human perception,or just someone who likes to watch movies! It's really interesting!

Jorge Colombo's iPad finger paintings at The New Yorker cover!

I love this black background paintings with bright colorful details, the sharp and blur game, the overlapping brushstrokes... and all of this with his fingers and an iPad. You can imagine  yourself in the picture?! Great work!

Inntel Hotel Amsterdam-Zaandam, Zaanstad

This is a notorious piece! At first glance it seems that we are in a kind of Legoland, but the different buildings around make you look more carefully: it's for real!

A composition that leaves us speechless. Houses appear superimposed by a pleasant hurricane! The day I'll sleep in this lucid green hill my requirements for a good night's sleep never going to be the same. Congrats guys!

Where are you Confetti System?

I heard for the first time about Confetti System – Nicholas Andersen and Julie Ho – almost a year ago, when they seemed to be with lots of work. I found them through Mixtab, and despite I think they are incredible, I never heard about them anywhere else!

This duo of artists use simple materials such as tissue paper, cardboard and silk to transform them into interactive objects or even jewelry. They had already worked to famous brands around the World. Once you see it you can easily understand why!

I'm amazed by their objects. They catch one's eye!! They are funny, festive, creative, suitable for different contexts and they just glitter the environment!

I feel like doing piñatas the rest of the day!

I love the simple concept and poetry about the Forgotten Songs installation: 110 empty birdcages suspended high in the air play the songs of fifty birds species, that once lived in central Sydney before the colonization and urbanization of the area. ! The artist is Michael Thomas Hill, 2011.

I cannot explain the contrast of sensations that the works of Choi Xoo Ang awake in me. They are strange sensations, almost provoke disgust, fear, vomiting. But, at the same time, they can be poetic too and make me feel like spending hours exploring the details behind that monstrosity.

As you may be aware, I am a bit fanatical by experimentalism, all involving trial and error, dissonances, and so on ... And that's why I appreciate most projects made by Lava. They have that “sort of stuff” that sets them apart. It feels that they steam their heads thinking and rethinking concepts in such a way that in the end it’s all there. The result is smashing!

Let me give you an example of a piece of work that reflects what I just wrote. If I were the client I had given jumps of true joy!

Don't eat, it's play time!

A few years ago I saved an image of one-of-a-kind piece of colorful ham sliced, inside my "Favourites" folder. 

A few days ago I found new colorful hams and I wondered if they emerged from the same hands.

Chen and Williams are the responsible for such curious objects, which witnesses the passion for form exploration. They share an insatiable curiosity about the ways different materials interact.

Rafael Rozendaal created “Happy Mondays”: 10 Gif animations for AND (Abandon Normal Devices) Festival, under the theme ‘Success’, drawing on quotes from some of the most successful people of all time.

AND it's an energetic regional festival of new cinema, digital culture and art, that takes place annually in Liverpool and Manchester on alternate years, with an extended regional programme.

Rozendaal plays mostly with the colors and the optical illusions. Here is one of the Gif’s I liked the most.
