watching death note with my family and after the college entrance episode my mom asked offhandedly if anyone had ever pictured L and light as a couple before. it felt like one single white dove had landed on a crystalline lake in a beautiful pure clearing. no i dont think anyones ever thought of that before

I don’t think near or mello ever actually realised how close L and light were. They probably don’t know they were chained together. That L called light his only friend (a lie but they weren’t nothing). That L washed Light’s feet and told him it would be lonely, because they knew each other. Near had no fucking clue that part of Light’s poorly disguised anger was from him mimicking L , he just thought light hated him (which he did). I wonder how they’d react if they found out about the Way they Acted around each other. L was not a perfect calculating detective, detached and objective. He was FULLY invested in light Yagami. Neither Near nor Mello know what he saw in him.
