Confront || Mona & Ariel

Ariel saw Mona wince and frowned deeply. “What happened to your shoulder?” she asked, getting right to the point. “How could you have messed it up?” It just didn’t make any sense. She wanted it to, but it didn’t. “I get you don’t like being locked up there. I hate it too. It’s…it’s like being back home.” It did feel a lot like that, but it took Mona pointing it out for her to realise it.
“So what’s wrong? And who was that person who helped me? You’ve never mentioned him before, how would he know who I was?” There were so many questions she had to ask of Mona, and part of her knew that it was a lot to throw at the girl who was obviously injured. So she tried really hard to rein in the number of questions she asked in one breath.
“My shoulder? Nothing! Just got shoved around a little bit.” It wasn’t a complete lie. She decided to be bold and let her hand touch her friends. “It sucks. But at least we aren’t being sent home, right? I mean....I don’t even know what having a home is.”
At the mention of “her friend” she looked away from her. “Oh him. He’s just some guy my dad knows. I told him what you looked like so he could get you to safety...sorry if that was weird.”

lost-atlantica:
Ariel placed a hand on her hip and ran the other one through the mess of waves she called hair. “Well it has been. And I don’t think you understand how much I’ve been worrying about you. I knew you had to be okay after the carnival because whoever your friend was that got me out of there told me you were fine. And I assumed he was telling the truth. But still. I worry.” She let out a huff and shifted to cross her arms over her chest. “You know you’re not supposed to be out here right?”
A sigh was pulled from her as she relaxed her stance. “I’m sorry, I just…worry.” She was repeating herself, but when she was around Mona, her brain sometimes got all scrambly and hard to figure out. Ariel found a stump to sit on and threw her bag on the ground. “Are you okay? And I mean really okay. Not the ‘yeah I’m fine’ you give to random strangers that ask ‘how do you do’. You can talk to me you know,” she said with a gentle nudge to Mona’s arm.
Mona winced at her friend’s words. She really must’ve worried her. She was ready to lie and tell her she was okay but she nudged her injured side and she winced. Well, she guessed that option was out for the time being. “I know I’m not supposed to be out here but I needed to clear my head. I don’t do well being locked up like cattle.”
She gently rubbed her shoulder. “As for my health, I’m fine. Sore in some places, but fine.” That wasn’t a complete lie. “How are you doing? Did you make it out in one piece? I mean you’re alive which I knew already but I hope that you weren’t hurt at all.”

“Yes, Yes I did,” Gaston admitted proudly. “Then, what is your type?” He had to ask. Gaston was that guy.
“Yikes. And my type is people that are way too good for me.”

thebargegaston:
“Gaston is not afraid of competition. I’m just stating facts.” He turned to face her, “why aren’t you drooling over him?”
“Did you just refer to yourself in third person?” Mona snorted. “He’s not my type. At all.”
Confront || Mona & Ariel
@monamorph
After the terrifying events of the carnival, Ariel was constantly shaken. She was always on the edge of her seat, especially with the new headmaster in office. Something about him just didn’t sit right with her, whether it was because of the rumors of different magic he had or because he was just kind of…creepy, she didn’t know. Still, she didn’t question it. It wasn’t her place. Ariel did her best to just act like everything was fine, like she wasn’t totally screwed if she went down to Adamsville. But she was missing club meetings and her friends.
So Ariel made her way down to the line of the woods with her bag over her shoulder and her phone in her pocket. It was forbidden, but Ariel was never good at following the rules. As she came closer to the barrier, her steps slowed and she stood still, staring out at the other territory. A sound off to the side made every hair on her body stand on edge. “Who’s there?” she asked, pulling her wand from her boot, glad she hadn’t crossed the barrier yet. Ariel slowly approached the site where the sound came from and her eyes widened in surprise. “Mona? What on earth are you doing out here?” she scolded gently, slipping her wand away. “Where have you been? I haven’t seen you in ages.”
Mona fucked up. Not only did she not get any Intel on the map while she was at the carnival but when the attack happened instead of keeping Ariel safe, she got hurt. She couldn’t believe how reckless she was; Ariel for sure brought out that side of her but she didn’t think it would ever get that dangerous. What was worse was that she got injured while she was looking like anything but herself. She had to get Ariel to safety and run off without a word and she felt awful about it. So she stayed away for a little bit. Ariel had such a huge support system that Mona was certain things would be okay.
Her shoulder still hurt like a bitch. She didn’t trust the nurses enough to let them help, so she was sitting the injury out. She’s had worse; ten times worse. And she figured if she just...let herself get her shit together, things would look up. She was in the woods, trying to let herself find peace or some shit with all the chaos swarming the school, but of course Ariel found her. Of all days. “Ariel....hi?” Smooth, Phillips. “Oh? Has it really been that long? didn’t think it was that long...”

Gaston scoffed as a group of girls drooled over the new Quidditch Director. “It’s all because he has some fancy accent. If I walked around here speaking French, they’d do the same thing. It’s nothing special.”
“Calm down. There is still a pretty decently sized crowd staring at you. Don’t be afraid of the competition.”
lost-atlantica:
Ariel hopped back onto her bed and pushed her books and things aside to make room for Mona if she wanted to sit down. “Oh. Well, I figured I’d just get a text or something. That’s what my sisters did.” She shrugged and grabbed her bag of hot cheetos, offering them to the other girl after picking out a few for herself. As Mona continued talking, Ariel felt her heart drop and her face fell. “You’re here to tell me no, aren’t you? I know it’s a big commitment and I know it probably seems weird since we haven’t been friends for that long, but I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side. And I couldn’t pick one of my sisters, it just didn’t feel right. I totally understand if it’s not something you’re okay with.”
Mona sat next to the redhead, but didn’t look at her. She was kind of embarrassed, Was that what people did? Just texted each other back? That seemed like the type of thing you answered in person, but what would Mona know? She never did any of this...wedding stuff before. But when she said what else was on her mind Mona’s eyes widened and she turned to look at her again. Her hands grabbed Ariel’s for reassurance. “No! I’m not here to say no. I’m here to say..are you sure you want me? I just...thought you were joking?”
lost-atlantica:
Ariel arched her brow when she heard the knock on her bedroom door, wondering who could want to talk to her. As far as she knew, she didn’t have anything planned. Shrugging to herself, she rolled off her bed, brushed her hands down to shirt to smooth it out, and went to the door. Seeing who was on the other side, a wide grin split her face. “Mona! I wasn’t expecting you, come in come in. How are you?”
Mona raised an eyebrow. “You weren’t expecting me? After what you left on my doorstep?” She entered the girl’s room and looked around. it wasn’t her first time being in here but every time she was, she couldn’t help but grin a little. The room was so Ariel it wasn’t even funny. “That is why I’m here, by the way. The...surprise at my doorstep.”
Nights grew warmer and Babette couldn’t keep herself in doors. Her wondering heart and mind lead her to an evening stroll. Despite the fears of hunters finding her she made her way to the little town. Footsteps behind her sent a chill up her spin and she snapped around. “Are you following me?”
Mona was making her way to The Peg Leg so she could have one of her weekly meetings with Silver. She always had to go when the sun as down and she hated how shady it was. She didn’t have the map, it went missing the moment her lead did, and she just wanted to scream. Of course she wasn’t the only witch out at this time because she supposed she looked like she was following the girl and it wasn’t until she spoke that Mona even realized it was Babette. “Oh shit...Nah, I’m not follow you.”
A Honor? || Mona & Ariel
@lost-atlantica
When Mona received her little gift box from Ariel her heart simultaneously burst and died a the same time. She knew Ariel’s wedding date was getting closer but she wasn’t actually ready to see her friend...get married. Still, the question the box contained lingered in the air and Mona figured it was better to tell Ariel in-person. So she made her way to the girl's room, knocking softly and rocking on her heels as she waited. Mona hadn’t felt this nervous since....going to Ilvermorny in the first place.

“What is that supposed to mean?” she asked, lifting a hand to her chest in mock offense. “I can’t believe you would say something like that.” Of course she could, though, and Mona called her out on it in a much nicer way than most people did. She was stubborn and headstrong and stupid and selfish and she knew these flaws existed. At least she was trying to work on them. “Thank you,” she said with a smile, glad that Mona understood her need to come back and check on Jim. She let her friend lead the way out of the school, feeling a weight leave her shoulders as the fresh air hit her skin. “I just want to forget everything that happened. Do you ever wish you could just…start over?” she asked, though it sounded more like she was thinking aloud than actually talking to Mona.
“Believe it,” she said with a slight chuckle. Ariel knew who she was and Mona never questioned it. It was just another thing to admire about the girl. Mona knew nothing about herself, had no idea what she was or what she wanted to be. All she really knew was that she was stubborn and didn’t like to keep her feet on the ground too long. So what did that really say about her? As they walked, Mona couldn’t help but feel a little more...calm. Ariel had that kind of power over her already, but the fresh air was an added bonus. She wasn’t sure if Ariel meant to speak to her, but she was going to answer anyways. “All the time. I am constantly thinking about what I could do, how I’d be, if my life was different. If I had a real chance to start over...” She stopped herself there. She didn’t want Ariel asking too many questions. “You have every right to feel that way..”

James was recovering, that was good, it meant that what he did helped. He nodded his head as she helped him but he didn’t like the way she was breaking up the news. He tensed up as he found himself sitting on the edge of the bed, swaying, leaning back onto it. “Good, he’s all good…what about Ursula?”
When someone in Silver’s crew got injured or passed away, Mona was given the cold-hard truth, nothing more and nothing less. Silver said it kept her strong, kept her hard, which she guessed in some ways was true. At the same time, Mona was too soft for her own good. Even when she out on a strong front...she just couldn’t handle being the one to give bad news. She knew this was going to hurt him, and that knowledge alone made her tear up a bit. “Jim she’s...she didn’t make it...”
