wait, listen, and obey His instructions 👌🏼
Scripture of the Day
Genesis 7-9 (NKJV)
Won’t be able to type here the whole 3 chapters, but you can read them using your Bible or via https://www.biblegateway.com/ 😊
Observation
Genesis 7 - The Great Flood
God gave Noah specific instructions and Noah followed all of them.
Noah and his family waited patiently on the Lord and his instruction/command.
Noah and his family obeyed God. They trusted Him though they do not know exactly what will happen.
Genesis 8:1-19 - Noah's Deliverance
The animals - raven and dove - know when and how they can live. So, when the earth was dried already, [the dove] didn't come back anymore.
Noah waited for God to command him to go out of the ark.
Genesis 8:20-22; 9:1-17 - God's Covenant with Creation
After what happened, Noah decided to build an altar for God to worship Him.
Through Noah's offering, God made a promise that He will never cure the earth again because of man.
God blessed Noah and his family and commanded them to "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth."
As a symbol of His covenant, not only to Noah and his family but even to the future generations. He made a rainbow in the cloud. It is a sign of covenant between Him and the Earth [all the flesh of the Earth, even all the animals].
Genesis 9:18-28 - Noah and His Sons
They obeyed God to "be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth".
Ham, Noah's youngest son, saw his father's naked body but instead of covering him up, he told his brothers (Shem and Japheth). So his 2 brothers were the one who covered their father up without looking.
Because of Ham's actions, he was cursed by his son, Canaan, being cursed as a slave of Shem and Japheth.
Interpretation
Genesis 7 - The Great Flood
God gives specific instructions because He knows better and as humans, we need help from Him.
They didn't make "panguna" on what to do, they waited on God's instruction.
Most of the time what we should just do is trust God, especially when we are lost, confused, frustrated, and do not know where we are headed. Just like what Noah and his family did.
Genesis 8:1-19 - Noah's Deliverance
Part of following God's command is waiting on Him.
Genesis 8:20-22; 9:1-17 - God's Covenant with Creation
Building an altar could be a symbol of respect and honor unto God who have spared them, Noah and his family, from the great flood.
And I think, through the burnt [clean] offerings, God smelt it and it is like a reset button as well to remember that He created every thing - the Earth, all kinds of animals, and man. Which resulted to God's covenant.
Genesis 9:18-28 - Noah and His Sons
Our decisions and actions could cause us harm just like what happened to Ham and his son, Canaan.
Application
The Lord gives specific instruction, so we must actually listen and not ignore them.
Listen and obey what God has commanded you.
We should trust the Lord always.
We must wait on Him patiently and not lead our own way/life.
Be careful of our decisions and actions. We must think carefully always.
Prayer
Lord God, thank you for Your Word today although I have like questions and clarifications, I know that I won't totally understand You and Your Word. But still thank you for showing me what happened before during the time of Noah.
Help me, Lord, to be like Noah in waiting patiently on You and being obedient in what You say.
May I never forget, O God, that You ALWAYS know better, what is best for me. Also, I pray that throughout my life and even to my future children, and their children, and so on and so forth, we will all continue to trust you every single time - ups and downs. And that we won't forget how you are and have been faithful.
I'll make sure, Lord, that You'll be passed down to generation to generation. To let more people know that you are real and alive! But I know that I cannot do it at my own strength BUT with Your help, Lord, and even my future husband as well.
I pray that my future husband will put You first always. Will be aligned in You, with Your will, and obey You, God. And with that, he and I can pass on together to our future generations about You, Lord.
Thank You, Lord.
In Your Name,
Amen.
