We are made out of flowers and into flowers we turn when we reach high, through the soul and beyond. 

A personal project meant to describe my state of mind now that I am back home and the summer strikes in. It is more than harmony what I experience, it’s peace and beauty and a feeling that I want to pass further on.

Everything has a price nowadays because a lot of people keep on proving us that money can buy everything. As we feel this is not fair and it’s like cheating at life, we struggled to find something that money cannot buy. And this is how we found time.

Time, this fourth dimension we all live in, seems to be a villain no matter what these days and the most annoying thing is that it is that kind of villain which knows its importance and how vital it is for us.

This magazine is aimed to all of these people who need more time in a day. So pretty much to everyone. It is designed to make you live your day to the fullest, no matter your job or your schedule. Or simply, it is designed to make you live by feeding your soul without discharging your phone.

This is the poster I created for a project-magazine which is going to be launched on the 17th of May. The theme of the mag is the time, our perception of it, what it actually is and how we can be heroes in front of this arrogant thief.

Some sketches for early concept developments. I feel like I don’t have enough time to focus on my projects with this pitch bible I need to make and with my sticker project, but I will post these here in order to remember where I have to pick up from during the Easter break. I still feel a subtle air of nostalgia, as for many of these sketches I used my friends and my room as references.

There is a whole range of materials I used, from pencils (B-8B), to charcoals and Pitt markers mixed with watercolours as I do not have too many marker colours.

"At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can." -Frida Kahlo

Judgements and analyses have been considered by the mighty Greeks being enough in our development. Curiously enough, the most major problems of the world cannot be solved by these features, they do not need further analysis. They need design. And because the entire world is too much of an ambitious example to give, I chose to talk on a smaller scale, about the life of one of the most iconic presences I have ever had the chance to read about. 

Frida Kahlo suffered a terrible accident in which she broke her spine (and damaged her pelvis and uterus) when she only was 19. This incident pushed her life towards a static dimension, where movement and freedom become painful memories of a precedent life. But she refused to fall. She refused to give up, reaching her apotheosis. She started to paint and create art...until she became art.

In this design (initially thought of as a book cover one), I tried to aim for the boldest feeling that Frida might have every time she painted. She was immobilised. No chance to escape what just happened to her. Escape is a powerful impulse. And this is what generated the whole idea. 

Time and space are relative. They are concepts we patterned and acted like they serve humanity in order to define itself at a point. But what if “time” and “space” escape their physical dimension and begin to embrace the spirit. I think this is what Frida discover in her way towards art. Her soul became spaceless and in an instant, she could reach gold, space, mountains, fog, snow and blood. The essence of richness, of nature and life itself, stagnated in one single picture that would make her timeless and spaceless. Her body was trapped, but her heart evolved. This is was I think Frida Kahlo felt.

She reached for other heights and discovered spaceless mountains of heart gold and life.

I named the book “The Other Life of Frida Kahlo” because I want to bring in the limelights not the ephemeral human, but the undying artist, through which this woman can be defined.

Character design for my upcoming sticker collection and for the “The Mousetaches” pitch bible which I am currently working on. 

“The Mousetaches” is the story of Debby, the clumsy owner of 5 typical hamsters until she forgot their cage open during the night. Finally free, they decided to hang around the house and got right into Debby’s father’s lab, where they accidentally mess with some potions and other experimental liquids, ending up with superpowers. They now can talk, kick asses and most important, help Debby survive her teenage years with brio.

F-lawless / F-loral

This is part of a project I started out with the photographer Delia Tanase (you can find her here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142783293@N08/). It is kind of a game, we took some letters, the first letters which came up in our heads and each of us picked a word started with that letter. The word has to be of high significance for us in order to be able to match it with certain forms of art. Hopefully, we are going to have a very nice conceptual book at the end of this intricate adventure.

When it comes to reinvention, I love to start with the core. If I can change the quintessence of the heart of any little thing, I can have an impact on the overall image. That is basically why I wanted a new stamp, a new signature that would be able to speak more about the transition period I am currently going through. I needed something born out of femininity, the idea of beauty blown by nothing else but grace and a sense of natural order. Luckily, I found what I was looking for...

My new stamp comes from an actual “M” formed out of petals and leaves. The original picture belongs to one my very close and creative friends and it was a gift for my birthday. I enjoyed it so much and have thought of it for such a long time that I decided I should make a brush out of it so that it can become my official stamp.
