the protagonist of sonic x was a self-loathing lonely 4th grader with dependency and trust issues because his parents were rich and shitty and neglected him and said they would come home if he was a good boy. then they never came home no matter how good he was so he blamed himself. meanwhile other kids left him out of things because he was rich and weird to them.

the love interest was in a wheelchair and had a family that worked day in and day out to pay her medical bills and was upset because she was treated like a doll and knew that the financial troubles were because of her. she loved lasers and guns and scary adventures but nobody took her seriously because she was a pretty handicapped girl. she blatantly said she would rather her parents stop paying her medical bills and be in pain if that meant they could spend time with her. also she was never “fixed” or meant to be a source of cheap pity like media usually does.

the grandfather essentially raised the protagonist and berated the parents for being absolutely giant piles of shit.

the maid was hardcore, strong, and piloted a fighter jet when someone messed with her.

the background characters were diverse in addition to the main cast.

there were complex characters, writing, and challenges to tropes and problematic mindsets both kids and adults unfortunately have. relationships were complex and interesting. jokes were pretty funny. it was a great show

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
