Still in the rough details phase but I’m planning on doing a lot more blending and detail both on the front and back.

Working on the eyes I absolutely love the concentric rings of teeth in the eyes on the monster design on Francis it really sells that nightmare otherworldly aspect of him.
I’m in the very early stages of figuring out the general texture and form of the monster half I’ve been testing out different ways of texturing him I really want to pull it off In a way that sticks to the idea even if it deviates a bit from the original especially if it makes him seem like just looking at him would give you a parasite.
I’ve got to make a lot of teeth to make this to a standard that I’ll actually like and if somehow someway the artist behind this reads this I would like to say one thing.
Fuck you. I’ve gotta make about 30+? teeth for this thing and 90 percent of them have to be tiny i am going to scream, stop making such cool shit.
LOOK AT WHAT YOU’VE DONE.

“They put something under my skin”
I’m considering doing something cool.
Of course right now it’s just a concept but I do think it would be fun to make a full krampus and I’ve been brainstorming on how to do the casting of it right now I’m thinking of making a silicone mould and then spraying and compacting expanding foam into it to make a lightweight mask I can stick on some pva piping and finish up.
Of course though this whole process is a mystery to me so id be pretty much going in blind so any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Sonar sculpt update
Twinsies!
Gotta say, vampire bats are...weird to sculpt. Thier skulls are the closest thing to an irl xenomorph. Granted, mine is an og character not Sonar so I was going for greater realism, but so few ppl sculpt bats yours immediately peaked my interest. Yours is looking fangtastic. I would have liked to sculpt it in actual clay, but I've done molding and casting masks before and I wanted to try something new-and I wanted to make it out of something more flexible/less heavy than resin. What do you cast yours in?
Sick ass sculpt there mate the detail on the nose is peak.
As for the casting I haven’t made a cast in a while cause I took a long break from mask making and now I’m trying to improve my sculpting but when I did I liked to use latex cause it was relatively cheap and it gave you that classic mask feel light with a bit of shake it’s a very good material to work with but it does have some flaws.
It tends to shrink in the drying process so if you don’t find a way to sort that out on bigger or more complex masks you’ll get tears and it can’t really be painted in with just anything due to it’s flexible nature so you’ve gotta mix the acrylic paint with liquid latex at around 50/50 to get a lasting paint job, plus it tends to rot if you don’t take good care of it long term latex is just a fancy tree sap and it can and will rot over (a good couple of) years if you don’t look after it and just stick it in a box.
But once your using it you can do pretty much anything with it you can attach hair fur and whatever you could need to it to make it look perfect, there’s a good reason they used it for practical effects in the old films. But depending on the latex you use and the sculpt you might need an armature or some reinforcement to keep things from flopping around.
And if you are interested in getting into clay I highly recommend monster clay. it’s an incredible clay to use and due to its wax based nature it’s reusable and great for just about anything it softens up under heat so you can make a previous sculpt workable in seconds by just putting it under a hairdryer sticking it in the microwave it can even be turned into a liquid with enough heat making it castable.
As the name suggests it’s great for making monsters.

The Owlman of Mawnan
This sculpts of a favourite cryptid of mine known as the Owlman of Mawnan below I will share its story or at least how I remember it.
In the town of Falmouth lies the village of Mawnan smith, a picturesque slice of Cornish civilisation attached to the Carwinion woods and watched over by two churches.
But this town is host to a strange visitor some say a looming beast that hangs around the Mawnan church and the surrounding region like an impression on the minds of its residents. It was April 1979 when the Melling family started their Easter holiday in Mawnan, the two children of the family nine year old June and twelve year old vicky left on their own to explore the village for themselves. While exploring the sisters passed the bell tower of the Mawnan church where there appeared a huge shape lingering over it, it looked like a man but had the wings of a bird the children so frightened ran to their parents and the Melling family so disturbed by the children’s account cut their holiday short. This is the story told by the famous or infamous modern monster hunter and all around legend Doc Sheils, who once attempted to provoke the legendary creature of myth the morgawr by orchestrating a magical ritual involving “naked witches” that were his own daughters as blasphemous as it sounds the accounts raised by him should be taken with a grain of salt as he had faked supernatural accounts before this but the story does not end quite yet.
While most of the Owlman sightings started after this famous account there is a historical record of a similar creature that appeared in 1926 of a large bird creature that attacked two boys in the area approximately six foot three in height but the first real clue to the Owlmans origins lies with the visit of a surrealist artist named Max Ernst who visited the area in the 1930s with a group of his close friends apparently him and his group were deeply steeped in occultism with them allegedly wandering into the woods at night attempting to summon animal human hybrid creatures with dark rituals. Max Ernst himself had a strange obsession with birds and often painted his own alter ego a half bird half man shapeshifter many of his paintings feature man like owls in strangely foreboding poses and even picture seemingly the 1970s account from Doc Sheils.
This painting was apparently inspired by a fever induced hallucination from his childhood and is titled “two children are threatened by a nightingale” this raises the question did Ernst and co summon the Owlman ,And why did it only reappear after the 1970s accounts? What can it be perhaps a demon brought forth from the reaches of hell by artists delving too deeply into the deranged or as a YouTuber named shrouded hand raised could it be a rogue tulpa wrought from the mind and the latent subconscious of these artists, a rouge thought form manifesting in the minds of those unlucky enough be its host appearing to those who would sustain it by their fear.
I am sorry dear reader if this thought has troubled you. I hope you have enjoyed my retelling and my sculpture if you do I would be happy to do these little story-sculpts in future.

The owlman of mawnan.
I decided to mix two of my interests together with this one cryptids and sculpture, this one’s a Cornish cryptid with a surprisingly interesting story involving a legendary modern monster hunter and a surrealist painter rumoured to have been involved in mystic practice. I’ll tell you more with the finished product.
(WIP) owl sculpt I’m working on.
