CIRQUE!!!

here are some fun experimental drawings i whipped up. my secondary sona, cirque. she's a dragon kaiju! she's just as massive as you'd expect, standing at over 90 meters tall, she's capable of leveing cities. perhaps i'll indulge in a proper illustration of her causing some chaos in the future. for now, i've just been having fun drawing her, she's definitely a sona that's grown on me!

THE MAW - LIMINAL BEAST The Maw is a seemingly infinite labyrinth of useless rooms mimicking human architecture, a facade fabricated by the Maw in an attempt to replicate human environments. The Maw first and foremost, is an organism, one that needs to feed off of organic material in order to sustain itself. The Maw is not limited to mimicry human environments though. It will mimic the environment of anything it seeks to devour. It is capable of invading and replicating the fears and pleasures of its prey. The Maw is a multi-dimensional carnivore that exists spontaneously through multiple planes tethered together within vast preternatural veins. (FULL LORE / WIP UNDER CUT)

the maw was a pretty fun creature to work on! this is, obviously, my own interpretations of the viral backrooms sensation. i decided to draw inspiration from the new movie and dabble in some of my own ideas, such as approaching the backrooms as an extra-universal organism rather than a mysterious realm.

i'm itching to write a short story about the maw at some point, and will undoubtedly return to it to draw again eventually! but for now, this is just a fun little project that i could work on to flex my creature design skills :p

i definitely think my art shines the most when i'm drawing grotesque creatures like this, really shows what my favorite kind of thing to draw is haha

An independent ecology organization known as "EX" discovered a sapient realm between our own, referred to as “The Maw”. The Maw is a seemingly infinite labyrinth of useless rooms mimicking human architecture, a facade fabricated by the Maw in an attempt to replicate human environments. The Maw first and foremost, is an organism, one that needs to feed off of organic material in order to sustain itself. The Maw is not limited to mimicry human environments though. It will mimic the environment of anything it seeks to devour. It is capable of invading and replicating the fears and pleasures of its prey. The Maw is a multi-dimensional carnivore that exists spontaneously through multiple planes tethered together within vast preternatural veins. The Maw is an opportunistic predator. It will prey on whatever ventures within it, though it lacks a means of locating them, even with lures. When the Maw has found prey, it will infect its prey with a mold-like substance that disintegrates prey into a liquid substance that the Maw absorbs through its floors. Eventually, this way of hunting was cast aside. Many years ago, EX had conducted a plethora of successful expeditions inside the Maw. That was until what EX later dubbed the “Convergence Incident”. The Maw, like many organisms, is susceptible to sickness. For unknown reasons, possibly related to illness, the Maw had unsuccessfully processed it’s prey— the researchers of the Convergence Incident. As a result, it is presumed that it did not properly digest its prey. When the researchers were found again, they had been joined together into one body. A mimic, much like the rest of the Maw’s own infinite anatomy. It is unknown of what has happened to them since their discovery and swift abandonment by EX. Perhaps, in this new form, they had become part of the Maw. It seems as if this "creature" allows the Maw to abandon its opportunistic nature and directly hunt within itself.

a nice tea shop owner for Gay Spaceship! her name is Kumatcha and she runs a tea house called ‘8 Cups’.

she’s a perfectly normal™ spider lady except for her shadow, which is less an  accurate outline of her body and more a liquidy Shape that kind of looks  like her. it morphs a bit according to her mood, so in a way you can  read it like tea leaves in the bottom of a cup to see how  she’s feeling.
