MONTHLY MOVIE CHALLENGE is a monthly movie making exercise with a theme! It is not a competition, rather a "Call-To-Create" for filmmakers and non-filmmakers a like. Every month there is a new theme, and a new chance to make a movie! Questions and submissions to: [email protected]

Hello friends, we wanted to announce that we will be taking a break from screenings for a few months. Charlie and I (Eric) are having our 2nd child next month, and that along with other commitments makes it hard to give the right amount of energy to the movie challenge. So, we are setting a current theme “Take It Easy”, and giving folks time to make a movie. We will announce a due date, and still have an online “screening” this summer. Our next definite in-person screening will be our annual “horror” theme in Oct.

Our current theme is the past three themes combined! We are having a screening of the past three themes, and inviting filmmakers to make new films based on those themes.

Our 15th Anniversary Program, featuring 24 short films from the past 15 years of the Monthly Movie Challenge.

It was a no easy task to go through 15 years of short films, over 1200 films. We whittled down to 88 that we thought were excellent, iconic, crowd favorites that represented the spirit of the movie challenge. From there we narrowed it down 24 films running an hour total!

Many great films already appeared in the 10th anniversary program, some again here, but there were many since then that also fit.

It's been truly inspiring to keep this thing going, and to see what folks come up with month after month. I know that for many of you, myself included, movies are being made that would not exist if not for a deadline and a theme.

So thanks to everyone who has participated. Thanks for "getting it" and joining this fun film adventure! Thanks to everyone that has ever come out just to see the movies, or watched online.

For those that have always wanted to, but never made a movie for the challenge, we'll be here, and you are always welcome!

It's Not What You Think program premiere's tonight at 8pm!

TONIGHT at 7pm, our 12th annual horror program will premiere. You will be able to watch the whole program anytime after that. This year we have 15 short films! One of our most successful to date! Enjoy!

Premiering Halloween night at 7pm. Our 2022 Horror challenge. We got a small, but wonderful batch of films in, and we included some films from the past few challenges that were not shown (following the horror program).
