Current Residence: Pacific Northwest (I haven't decided exactly where yet, but this is the region she mainly works in)

Generic facts before rambling abt her background:
-she has graduated with a degree in Archeology, before becoming a proxy she was working towards a higher degree in egyptology
-pansexual/aromantic
-strives to be in control of any situation she's in, she rarely bends will to others (Slenderman really being the only acception)
-her mask is entirely hand made, she tends to only wear it when preparing victims for slenderman (thid is also used to build on the mythos of victims being impaled onto trees, essentially prepping bodies to ensure the best effect)
-typically her victim prep mimics that of ancient mummification processes, she firmly believes this is the proper and true way to feed the Ark
-despite being fairly controlling she tends to work well with other proxies as needed, their shared servitude to slenderman typically softens her up to them socially, only holding harsh treatment and feelings towards them when they challenge her word over them
Initially Mariam began encountering Slenderman early into her undergraduate program, generally assuming she was just experiencing stress or sleep induced hallucinations. She was extremely passionate about her studies, often craming as many classes as she could afford into each semester. Towards the end of her classes leading up to graduation, she began experiencing more gaps of amnesia and sudden aggression during this time. Post graduation the symptoms seemed to wane, reaffirming to her it was simply a stress related issue.
Eventually Mariam was accepted into a masters program for Egyptology, loading herself with work once more. Her hallucinations seemed to return, along with her perception of her studies beginning to change. She began finding (although majorly a stretch) what she believed to be direct references and depictions of Slenderman through texts and artifacts she was studying. She became incredibly obsessive over studying these instances, essentially alienating herself from her classmates who would just brush her off as eccentric with her ideas. Through her studies she grew delusional of her sightings of Slenderman, havjng convinced herself she was receiving visions and callings from an ancient diety the same way she perceived the people she was studying had. Real ancient practices she had spent time studying became conflated with Slenderman to her. During this time her bouts of amnesia and aggression returned.
She attended an on field expedition with a few other classmates, most of which had become increasingly warry of her, it had become apparent to her class that she was prone to isolation and quick to anger when pressed on her strange theories. While on this field excursion, she began having bouts of disappearing at night. Often times she returned delirious and exaughsted, making her increasingly irritable when put to work with others. This compiled with others refusing the take her own research seriously made her a particularly miserable field partner.
One night shortly before returning to the states, she had left out on her own again, in a delirious state she had been directly lead to provide a victim to the Ark. (Exactly who I have not decided yet, my running idea is another classmate as that's who she'd have the easiest access too. Direct events following this and reasoning for her getting away with it have also not been determined)
Upon returning home, she had suddenly dropped put of all of her classes, fueled by a belief that professionally she would not be taken seriously and that could more intimately research and serve Slenderman on her own.
Anyway this is still technically a WIP, but its complete Enough that there's an idea there <3
