okay, but eddie has made some brash decisions this season to save people. he dove off the bridge in 9x01, he volunteered to help de-escalate an active shooter situation in 9x08, and he rushed to save abigail even when athena told him to wait in 9x11. we also saw an eddie who questioned if he could have saved bobby if he was there in 8x17. if buck does need saving and eddie is the one to get him out, i can only imagine how far s9 eddie will go to make sure buck makes it home. he may not have been able to save bobby or shannon, but he cannot lose buck too.

if we disregard the crossover the transition from 9x12 to 9x13 is genuinely so beyond devastating. buck's entire conversation with maddie is foreshadowing for what he's gonna have to do in 9x13.

"that's what families do. no matter how hard it is or how far apart they are. they find a way home. even if they have to fight like hell to get there." buck is going to be kidnapped and tortured and have no idea if eddie made it out alive or maybe even be told that eddie died on impact. and he's gonna have to somehow find the will to live because if eddie's dead then he's gonna have to crawl on hands and knees to get to Los angeles and Christopher if that's what it takes

walk with me on the fact that buck never told eddie that he hooked up with tommy that one time because he was kind of embarrassed about it and of course because of how it ended with the whole in love with eddie debacle. and so eddie is operating under the assumption that buck also hasn't had sex in like a year which is nearly true but is missing a key piece of information, which is that the last time buck hooked up with someone it was because he missed eddie and he got drunk about it and then he fucked his ex in eddie's house. and then he kicked him out the next morning because tommy called him out on his really really obvious feelings for eddie
