eddie diaz is the kind of guy who'd figure out he's in love with his best friend, immediately decide that he can't possibly admit this to anyone, and then try to stealthily get advice on how to proceed from said best friend without admitting why he needs it.

he's trying to woo buck with advice buck gave him while under the impression eddie is pursuing someone else. this is going GREAT (not).

eventually buck asks how it's going with this mystery person and eddie is like NOT GREAT. >:(

and buck, so, so earnestly and sincerely, tells him, well, whoever they are they're an idiot (eddie has been deliberately fudging the pronouns in his quest for advice. buck is NOT thinking about it), you're a catch.

so eddie finally reaches his breaking point and yells, IT'S YOU, OKAY, YOU'RE THE IDIOT, and huh, it turns out that's all he had to do to get buck to kiss him stupid(er).

during a quiet night at the station harry turns to ravi and says 'hey rav, fuck marry kill, chim, eddie or buck?'

'obviously kill buck-' 'oh yeah, obviously' (buck, lifting his head up from where he's sprawled in a recliner: hey.) '-fuck eddie, I've got eyes. marry chim for the sweet captain privileges.'

(eddie, from the other recliner, without lifting his head: nice.)

'hey cap,' harry hollers, 'fuck marry kill, ravi, eddie or buck?'

'I'm pretty sure this is a HR violation,' says chim from where he's doing admin at the dining table. 'but uhhh. buck, I'm sorry, you're my brother and I love you, but I can’t. I've gotta kill you-'

(What the fuck?? says buck)

'transfer ravi to another house and then fuck him, I guess. eddie, I'll marry you.'

(yeah ok says eddie around a big yawn)

chim says, 'hen, you're exempt, lesbian card in play.' (thank you lord says hen without looking up from the book she's reading.) 'harry, you're exempt because I need to be able to look your mom in the eyes'

(And because he's, what? twelve? mutters buck.

Im eighteen and three quarters, hisses harry.

Spoken like a true 12 year old)

'buckaroo, fuck marry kill, eddie, ravi or-'

'I'm killing ravi.'

'ah, ah, let me finish! eddie, ravi or your truly.'

'kill ravi. then uh. Uh.' buck clears his throat. (hen lowers her book.) 'I'm uh, I'll marry chim, he, you know, I already know he's a good husband. a-and jee and nash are already buckley hans, so that's. convenient.'

'and you'll fuck eddie,' hen concludes, placidly.

'as a friend.'

'you don't want to marry me?' eddie says, sounding a little hurt.

'I - it's not that I don't want to marry you, I just really don't wanna fuck chim or ravi.'

'so you do want to fuck eddie,' ravi says.

'you said you'd fuck eddie!'

'well duh. I mean, i'm straight but look at him.'

'I'm always looking at him!!!'

an awkward silence. harry, deeply confused, whispers 'what is happening?'

'it's my turn,' says eddie, 'kill ravi. fuck chim, as a friend. marry buck.'

Buck didn't think he'd end up back at Eddie's after everything. All the things that drove him here haven't changed and neither have the things that made him leave again. Thirty four years old and able to drop everything in his life because he had no dependents, no responsibilities, no ties. Chris was gone and Eddie was following him and Buck was only at South Bedford because he was being left behind.  Buck has reckoned with his feelings by now, this past year after Bobby, after everything that went on in the desert, the lengths Eddie went to, bringing things into sharper focus. He's in love with Eddie, has been in love with Eddie for so long it just became part of the fabric of the universe, the baseline from which Buck operates. He's made his peace with it too, aware that Eddie doesn't feel the same.  He'd do anything for Eddie and Chris but he felt more like a guest than he ever had when they came back to LA, sleeping on their couch, waiting to be asked to leave. Better to go than be pushed, he figured, and yet the path always seems to lead back to here. So, South Bedford it is, only there are four of them now, not three because Buck is responsible for more than himself these days. 

Buck and Theo have to move in with Eddie and Chris after a small fire at Buck’s place. The proximity of cohabitation and domesticity means a shift in Buck and Eddie’s relationship - but are they on the same page about what that means?
