how can I study when I have a view like this and I’ve never gotten over anything in my life
starting alchemised like
“I need him biblically,,, I need him in a way that is concerning to feminism.”
Currently rewatching asylum for the first time since it aired. Evan really put his whole evussy into this role stg 🙏🏻
"I have plans that I cannot share because haters will sabotaged me"
Happy October to me (inside my head i guess)
if you see me getting manipulated by a dirty blond ghost boy with a questionable backstory, leave me alone, i’m where i want to be.
Intrigued by the people who say they're into history but cannot stand the thought of hearing about the thoughts, feelings and opinions of people whose values were shaped by a completely fundamentally different environment, and immediately become offended and outraged by the idea that someone whose world was completely different would have a different worldview without being ontologically irredeemable and evil in every way.
Looking up different times, thinking "there better not be any fucking 'it was a different time' in here."
There were some acts in history done by people that were pure evil. The time frame did not matter in a lot of cases, it was just pure human evil.
However there were other times when it was genuinely just that they were in a different environment with a different needs and means of survival.
I understand that it can be scary to feel like you're justifying terrible Behavior or allowing other people to justify terrible Behavior but the fact of the matter is different times have different morals, people who grow up in a world without fast shipping and electricity and easy Communications, people who grew up in a world where you actually had to fight for resources and sometimes even fight to stay alive and healthy are simply going to have different morals and means of survival then we do today. History is interesting even if it can be infuriating at times but to fully understand and learn from history you need to be able to have the brains to understand the time period.
And a lot of the time, people who otherwise had very good thoughts and profound ideas were chillingly nonchalant about the whole concept of slavery, not because they personally got some kind of kick out owning people, but because the thought of a society that has no slavery would never even have occurred to them. Every other culture they had heard of also had slavery in some form, imagining a society without it would have been just as unfathomable as trying to imagine an army that functions without horses.
Was it shitty? Yes. Was it normal to them? Yes. Many things can be both at the same time. Hell, I don't even know how many people working in slavery were involved in manufacturing the phone I am typing on.
“A great sorrow, and one that I am only beginning to understand: we don’t get to choose our own hearts. We can’t make ourselves want what’s good for us or what’s good for other people. We don’t get to choose the people we are.” ― Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch
i recorded this at my parents’ house a few months ago on their piano. it’s about a girl i knew as a kid who died when we were in highschool.
lyrics:
she was heavenly, my ethel
but she made a deal with the devil, my ethel
she held tight to her youth and beauty, my ethel
until he pried it from the cold dead hands of my ethel
i close my eyes and count to three, she’s no more
she’s bleeding out, cradled in the driver’s door
i asked for far too much, i’ll take no more
it’s not my place to question god what for
Are you AI, cause you sound a lot like chatgpt, your banner pic looks AI generated, and a homonculus is a type of doll, manikin or basically fake human?
I am going to pull out your nervous system one nerve at a time, weave them into a rug, gift it to your parents to use as a picnic blanket, and watch them fuck on it.
remember kids, the moral of "Irish and Italians weren't even considered White yet!" isn't "because in those times people were so ignorant they didn't think the Irish were white". the moral is "because white is an unreal category created to justify slavery and ongoing hoarding of power and wealth". It's not that you know better about Italians. It's that the boundaries of the higher caste have changed.
At the risk of proposing something “prep,” have you considered wearing a watch? Casio makes good affordable ones
My problem with wearing a watch is that I don't like the ones with digital display and I can't read an analog clock face. I can't risk someone asking me what time it is.
How about a compass instead of a watch? Idk if they make compasses you can wear on your wrist but if not you could probably make one yourseld
That sounds like exactly the kind of bullshit I want to be involved in. I would 100% just look at the wristwatch and go "idk time isn't real but north is that way."
I’m dead serious, I will be making myself a wrist compass immediately. I actually hope people ask me for the time. I just love wasting peoples time.
when i look up a knitting term, the last thing I want is an ai overview. I want a 60+ year old woman with no understanding of lighting or helpful camera angles who still manages to give the most concise and clear explanation of how to execute purl 2tog through the backloop. ai summary fuck off, where is phyllis?
"live every day like it's your last": scary. weirdly foreboding. not a good thought process if you get anxious easily. stressful. so much pressure that it loops back around to making you do nothing. "live every day like it's your FIRST": everything becomes fascinating. renews the excitement of discovering things for the first time again. makes you feel like exploring stuff. #mywisdom
my partner might be onto something when she says you can disguise your pickiness and food sensitivity as an adult by calling yourself a “purist.” so instead of saying “the taste and texture of cooked raisins make me want to hmork,” you say “i’m actually kind of a cinnamon roll purist, i prefer just a classic cinnamon filling and a really good dough instead of something with a ton of random mix ins,” which takes you from who gave this four year old a bachelor degree to oh wow this guy is a pretentious asshole about more things than i even thought was possible
this is why I’m not a picky eater anymore, too many sweats
ah.. yes.. auror potter’s greatest weakness… draco malfoy sulking :)
