[RULES] [ABOUT] [HEADCANONS] [PLOT POINTS]
[SINGULARITIES]
Yris's cousin...? Truth be told, Amethio had never expected to meet another member of her family...And yet, that had just happened, with this woman seemingly knowing quite a bit about him...Though, he didn't know how much information Yris had entrusted to Yuri in confidence. What's more, she had caught him completely off guard with something she had brought up.
Yris spoke of him that fondly? ...But, he'd not done anything to earn that kind of treatment, had he? Plus, while her smile wasn't unkind, she still seemed rather crafty. And to add to that, she held a position of authority...He had no good responses for her, truth be told.
And yet, it would be rude to not respond, his head bowing briefly before he brought it back up.
"Erm...? F-Forgive me, but surely you must be mistaken, Ms. Yuri...Yris and I are close friends, yes, but I doubt I've done anything to earn her favor in any way beyond friendship. If anything, I've probably caused her more trouble than anything else..."
"Oh, is that what you think? Hohohoho..."
How interesting. When Yris had spoken of this young man, she did seem a little dense about her feelings. Perhaps because the relationship was still rather young in terms of friendship, though Yuri could sense the bond similar to that made between those with a Destiny Knot between them.
Yes, she could see it! But maybe there needed to be a nudge...
Yuri brushed some hair away from her face as she chuckled, revealing that telltale golden crescent moon for a split second. Yris' was located on the back of her left hand, usually hidden by her gloves. But Yuri's was right smack in the middle of her forehead, only seen when she would move her bangs aside.
"I know Yris. She tends to be quite a loner that one. So hearing her talk about someone brings me joy. I hope she also makes you happy, too...'as friends' of course, hohohoho..."
A person with a severe allergy to Poison types, but hangs around them anyways.
there’s the happy chirp of an aipom before she can see it. The monkey Pokémon leaps up into her arms, chittering excitedly as her tail swishes. And — her master isn’t that far behind.
“Uh. Hi.”
Ree looks a little more mature. They’re smiling shyly, their scars a little more faded than the last time. They offer their hand.
“It’s been a long time. Uhm. Seems like Miss Chief remembers you, though.”
"Hello, Miss Chief! Looks like you got bigger!"
Of course she recognized the chimp she had helped Ree receive as a partner some time ago, smiling as she hugged her after that enthusiastic greeting. Of course, seeing Miss Chief, that meant a certain someone would not be far behind and her smile gre bigger upon seeing their younger friend show up.
"Heya, stranger! Been a while, eh?" She was being teasing and playful. No disappointment, only joy at being reunited after some time apart. "Ree, looking good. And I see Miss Chief has gotten bigger, too. I'm sure she has been doing her best to help you out, right?"
At that point she nuzzled the Aipom, already knowing the answer just from looking at the two of them. Ree was looking healthy, happier. At least she hoped her assessment was right. Life kept them all busy. She knew from Celeste that the trainer from Alola had been rising up in their region.
"It's a little late, but congratulations on making Champion, Ree."
This person knew Yris?
...She'd already had Amethio at a disadvantage. And the way she looked at him, it was like she could see right through him...It was kind of unnerving, even if she didn't come off as hostile. She was...Enigmatic, for lack of a better word.
Just who was this woman?
"Yris talks about me to others? I admit, I've spoken of her on occasion, in high regard, but...I wasn't aware I'd earned the right to be spoken of, myself. But, I digress...You have me at a disadvantage, madam. Might I ask who you are?"
"Well, of course she'd tell her family."
It was actually kind of cute, since Yris could be so reserved at times, like how Yuri used to be before she really blossomed into herself. It was only a matter of time, though.
Yuri smiled at the younger man and while the expression wasn't unkind, the white haired shrine maiden certainly had a mischievous streak to her.
"I am Yuri Tsuchiya. Yris' cousin and the leader of the clan her maternal side hails from. A pleasure to meet the young man my cute younger cousin likes so much."
"So is your entire family as good at getting into trouble as you, Yuri?"
"My entire family? No, not at all. We have plenty of clan members who usually stay home, take care of their shrines, do events like weddings, funerals...you know the usual things you would expect from people dedicated to their shrines!"
Her tone was so jovial, so bright and cheerful, one could almost miss the oncoming 'but' hidden in her words. After all, since centuries ago, their family had been tasked with fighting off the horrors, whatever form they may take.
"I mean, I'm not so sure about Yukari or Yolane, but dear Yris does seem to be in constant danger. Such is the life of a Pokemon Ranger, though, isn't it? Hohohoho...."
MOONBLASTS THE DOOR IN--
"Guess who survived AGAIN, bitches?!"
A bit of soft laughter from the Johtonese Moon Maiden.
"Oh, so you're the one Yris talks about," Yuri stated with an amused smile. Flicking back some of her pure white locks, the head of the Tsuchiya clan stared at Amethio, as if right through his soul, too blue eyes crinkling further as if she had found out a little secret.
"Well, well. I hope that you two will get along, all right?"
@lxst-explorer
"Counterpoint: Who says I'm still the same Alistair that went gun in hand into that mansion in the first place? Who says I'm not some secret body double or a clone even?" Something off about him was putting it lightly. There was something outright wrong about him, if anything. But what she didn't entirely know wouldn't hurt her. "Let's just say... I understand, in a way, how the things in that place probably made you feel. It's... Complicated to explain. Might make you view me as less of a person, I don't know." The hint really wasn't subtle.
"You're still that same ol' cowboy that walked into that mansion, because you still look at me like I'm a flower you're too scared to touch."
Clone, copies -- she did not mind the idea, if that was what he was implying. Considering her own past and previous life, she had no right to say anything about any of that. All she could say was that the heart was what mattered.
The Mewtwo ever at her side now attested to that.
"I don't want to be treated as sacred. Like I'm too holy to touch. I don't want to be seen as above you, know you? It makes me feel like there's a gap. I'm just a girl wanting to be with her guy. Simple as that."
That did something.
He took a moment to even seem like he'd registered what was said, but once he did, he couldn't help but chuckle. "No offence, Yuri, but I've been shot, thrown out of aircraft, in close range of a literal war crime, list goes on... I'm willin' t' bet I'd survive a moonblast from you. But... I'd rather not face it. It'd be different comin' from you, personal. I'm used t' impersonal things." His fingers, once laced with hers, held on like something depended on it, he wasn't sure what, but something definitely depended on it. "I want the same thing you do... But you make it sound like that chance is goin' to go somewhere. You think I'm goin' t' blink out of existence at some point or somethin'?"
"I'm worried you won't be the Alistair I know you as later."
There had been something off about him for a while, though she did not know all the details. Her eyes let her see many things hidden from her, but not all. She was no mind reader, after all.
"I want to know the guy who liked me enough to walk into a haunted mansion to come find me. The guy who wants to take me on an airship. The guy willing to protect me. Maybe that guy will disappear one day. Time changes people after all."
"You're goin' t' be the death of m-" He fell silent. It was extremely rare for anyone to invoke his full name in that manner, rarer still for someone to do so without the immediate harm coming to them. But she knew, she knew full well she could get away with it. She was lucky like that. The discomfort on his face was clear enough once her fingers arrived there, though, it was also clear that the discomfort was caused more by that touch than by the conversation at hand. "And I'm the... No... Fine. I always did say I care about what you want and all that... Guess my own words done fucked me, again. Do not take that as me minding the fact you... I'm goin' t' shut up now I think."
"Good boy," she praised lightly. "If you had said something like 'I am some dead thing' I would have really gotten upset with you, you know? Have you ever taken a Moonblast to the face from an angry Moon Maiden before? Would not recommend it."
Just bouncing back to her usual, chaotic and chipper self. Best not to linger too long on those uncertainties of his, lest they overtook him again and had him spiralling.
She let go of his face and just found his hand, interlacing their fingers together.
"I also want to know what you want. And I'd get it if you didn't want me. You just have to say so. But I mean it; I want you. I want to be close to you. I want to know you more. Before I won't get the chance to."
He seemingly went to let out some retort, some vile words with the aim of getting her to stop asking, alas, whatever those words were, they wouldn't be heard, they didn't leave him. "You deserve better. Not some glorified shade dweller that fears the sunlight almost as much as he fears dragging your name back into the mud."
"Alistair Hagen." It was a rare thing for Yuri to invoke his full name like that. There was a gleam in those twinkling blue eyes of hers -- impossible eyes, eyes like a starry night -- that spoke of barely held back anger.
Her slender fingers found its way to his face and she grasped his chin between two fingers. They were gentle, but there would be no mistake in how they would also not let him go.
"I am a Moon Maiden. My place is not in the light of day, but under the guise of night. More than anything, I have no illusions about being anyone particularly important beyond those who are aware of the supernatural -- for many people I am some hack who pretends to have powers. As long as I deem it, I deserve what I want. And I want you."
"I was sure a long, long time ago. Just... Don't blame me if this blows up in our faces, yeah? Metaphorically, none of my usual blowin' up antics involved."
"Oh? What are you worried about? Come on, tell me."
Honestly, she figured it was about time for them to talk about things. If he was so uncertain, there must be a good reason for it. If not, at least she could help Alistair figure out what was actually bothering him. She remained close to this end. Close enough to hear and to let him close the distance, but enough for him to escape, too.
"I'm sure. But if you're not, I'm satisfied with just a kiss."
"And that's airship number... Four, yeah, four. First one of the year, should have been the last one of last year, oh well. Still on track to have ten of them by year's end, and ten is enough for complete regional coverage... Another ten on top of that, and that's theoretical continental coverage..."
"And which one will you be taking me on?" Yes, she knew how suggestive her wording was. She trusted Alistair to understand what she meant. Although, her playful giggle said that she didn't mind if they got up to shenanigans on any of the airships. All in all, it was just fun listening to him talk so passionately about the ships.
"I wonder how Archer is doing? I haven't seen him in a while...I hope the Houndooms are doing all right." She misses the puppers.
