Wyatt proposed to me 8 months ago while we were in Cabo for the offseason. He didn’t do one of those cheesy proposals on the beach with flowers.
Instead, he did it on the balcony of our hotel room where the sun was setting with a pink and orange hue and the sound of waves crashing was barely heard.
Now, it was the morning of our wedding. It was filled with laughter and a little bit of nerves, specifically coming from me.
The bridal room was buzzing with excitement as everyone helped zip up my dress with cautious hands and fix my veil so it laid perfectly on my head.
A few minutes later, there was a soft knock on the door.
“I’ll get it,” one of my friends said, already walking towards the door.
I looked over to see who was walking in as I heard the sound heels hitting the floor.
One by one the whole DCC was walking in. They all had smiles on their faces. Some of the older girls had tears starting to form in their eyes at the sight of me.
I gasped, my eyes widening and my hand covering my mouth.
I immediately ran over to all them giving each of them a hug. Between all the hugs and laughter I tried not to cry.
“Thank you guys so much for coming it means a lot,” I said as my voice cracked a little bit at the sight of them actually here.
“Of course! We wouldn’t want to miss this moment!” Reece replied with a huge smile on her face.
Once the ceremony finally started it was everything I dreamed of since I was little. It was elegant and had everyone I needed there.
When the doors opened, Wyatt looked up and a smile immediately appeared on his face.
As I reached the altar, he took my hand and whispered, “You look so beautiful.”
I laughed softly, placing my hand in his. “You clean up pretty good too.”
He let out a nervous laugh that made everyone smile.
The vows were an exchange of sweet words, inside jokes and promises that were going to stay forever.
“Y/n, I promise,” Wyatt’s voice cracked slightly as he squeezed my hands. “I’ll always make time for you and us no matter what.”
A stray tear ran down my face and a soft smile appeared on my face. “I’ll always cheer for you. Always.”
The reception had white and blue flowers on tables and a live band that kept everyone moving.
After dinner the surprise that I’ve been waiting for finally came. The beginning of “Thunderstruck” started and the doors slowly opened.
Wyatt looked over at me with a surprised look on his face. “Did you actually..?”
I laughed loudly and nodded. “Of course I did.”
My teammates walked in their iconic blue and white uniforms with their silver pompoms in their hands.
The whole room immediately erupted with applause and yelling of excitement.
As they performed Wyatt kept his eyes on me the whole time. A few tears fell down my face and he immediately wiped them away.
“What wrong baby?” Wyatt asked pulling me closer to him.
I shrugged with a small smile on my lips. “I can’t believe I’m leaving,” I said looking up at him. “It’s just a bittersweet moment.”
He nodded understanding then placed a sweet kiss on my forehead.
When the routine ended, the team came by me and pulled me out of my chair and dragged me to the middle of the floor. We all gathered in a circle and wrapped one arm around the other’s waist and the other in the middle of the circle.
“Because it is Y/n’s wedding she gets the honors,” Charley said looking at me.
I let out a soft laugh before taking a deep breath. “DCC on me! 1..2..3!”
The whole room erupted in cheers and loud claps as our hands all went up together.
As the night became to a close, guests lined up on the walkway holding silver pompoms.
We walked beneath the tunnel hand in hand with huge smiles on our faces.
Once we reached the end Wyatt looked over to me, pulling me closer to him.
“What?” I asked, noticing that certain look he had on his face.
“Do you think they will let me be on the team?”
I bursted out in laughter, almost falling over.
“Absolutely not!”
He sighed dramatically and pretended to be sad. “Worth asking.”
I leaned my head against his chest as everyone started to scatter. The music, the cheering, and everyone started to fade into the distance.
I was exactly where I wanted to be with the only person I needed.

I was laying in the hotel bed that I was staying at in Vancouver when I felt my phone buzz.
ben 💞
you still coming tonight??
I smiled at the text and started typing back.
of course
Ben immediately started typing back.
ben 💞
good. can’t wait to see you ❤️
I blushed at the message, looking up at the time on my phone I groaned and started to get ready as it kept getting closer to 5.
Once I was finally ready I called an uber and arrived at the arena. I texted Ben’s mom to tell her I was here.
After a few minutes I spotted her walking towards me with a big smile on her face.
“Hi, sweetie,” Sara said immediately wrapping her arms around me. “We’ve missed you,” she said before pulling away.
“I missed all you guys too,” I said smiling so hard my cheeks started to hurt.
Once we got to the suite his dad, Steve, greeted me with a soft smile. “Hey Y/n. Good to see you.”
Before I could say anything else, I heard someone yell my name. I turned my head towards the voice and saw Lacey.
“Lacey!” I squealed, giving her a hug.
“I missed you so much,” she said squeezing me slightly.
“Lacey let her breathe.” Lacey pulled away from the hug with a big smile.
After meeting everyone in the suite I sat down next to Lacey as she talked about what she’s been doing lately.
When warmups finally started, I immediately spotted Ben skating around looking up at the stands.
The second he found us, his face lit up with a smile.
“That was definitely for you,” Sara said as she nudged my arm with her elbow.
My cheeks got hot and I hid my face behind my hand.
In the first period everyone kept leaning forward but nothing much happened.
Finally when the second period started, Evgeni scored in the first five minutes. The nerves I had slowly drifted away now that the score was 1-0.
When Ben got in front of the net and buried the puck in the net, I jumped up with the rest of his family all of us cheering as loud as we could.
Towards the end of the second period, Ben scored again and looked up towards the stands and he once he found me he tapped his gloved hand against his heart.
I covered my face, trying to hid as my face heated up. His family immediately noticing it and started teasing me.
After the final buzzer it was 3-2 the suite was buzzing with the score and Ben’s two goals.
We all walked down towards the tunnel. After what felt like forever Ben finally came out with a big smile.
He walked over and hugged his family while everyone congratulated him.
Once he got to me he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a hug.
“Hi,” Ben said softly into my hair.
“Hi,” I whispered back.
His arms tightened around me as he placed his cheek on my head.
“I missed you.”
“It’s been a week,” I said laughing.
Ben hummed as he pulled away slightly. “Felt longer.”
I looked up at him with a small smile and placed a quick peck on his lips.
“No PDA,” Lacey said from behind us dramatically.
Ben rolled his eyes at her and looked back down at me. His expression softening.
“Ignore her.”
“I’m literally standing right here,” She said rolling her eyes as she walked away to go talk to her grandma.
Sara walked over to us smiling.
“You two hungry?” She asked. “We were thinking about going to that restaurant you like.”
Ben looked at me. “You wanna go.”
“Sure.”
At dinner it was just his dad, mom, Lacey, me and Ben. His parents told me stories about when Ben used to play soccer and when Lacey beat him.
“He said every time when he lost that Lacey cheated,” his mom said.
“Cause she did,” Ben defended.
“No I didn’t! Im just better!” Lacey shot back.
I laughed so hard I almost spit my drink out.
I noticed Ben smiling at me.
“What?” I asked my face heating up.
“Nothing.” Ben said softly.
His hand rested on my thigh and his thumb rubbed small circles on my jeans. “Just like seeing you with them.”
His mom looked over at us with a smile as she watched us.
After everyone finished eating Steve paid and we all got up to leave.
“Alright, bye you two. Get back to the hotel safe.” Sara said as she hugged me and Ben.
Lacey walked over and hugged me too. “Bye Y/n.”
I hugged her back with a smile. “Bye Lacey.”
As they walked to the car, Ben wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and placed kisses on my neck. I giggled and leaned my head to the side to give him more access.
“Thank you for coming,” Ben said between kisses.
“Of course. I wouldn’t want to miss it.”
As we stood there a little bit longer the uber finally arrived and Ben opened the door for me. Instead of sitting on the right side he sat in the middle seat right next to me.
I laughed as Ben intertwined our fingers and placed them in his lap.
“I love you,” he whispered placing a kiss on my cheek, squeezing my hand gently.
“I love you too,” I whispered back as I laid my head on my his shoulder.
Once we got back to the hotel we went up to my room and he sat on the edge of the bed. I took my shoes off and walked between his legs with a smile.
“I’m really happy you came,” Ben said, his hands resting on my hips.
I laughed leaning my head back. “You’ve said that a thousand times.”
Ben rested his chin on my stomach. “I know.”
My hands rested on his neck my thumb rubbing up and down on his jaw. “I’m gonna go change and then we can go to bed, okay?”
He nodded against my stomach and let his hands linger on my hips.
Once I came out of the bathroom Ben was laying under all the covers with only his boxers on. He watched me as I got in bed with him.
Ben immediately wrapped his arms around my waist and I rested my head on his chest. My fingers absentmindedly played with the silver chain that rested on his chest.
He placed a kiss on my forehead. “Goodnight. I love you.”
I looked up at him and kissed him on the lips before smiling. “I love you too.”

I rushed off the couch when I heard Thomas get home from practice. I immediately wrapped my arms around his waist the second he stepped through the door.
Thomas laughed softly, dropping his bag. “Hi to you too, pretty girl.”
“You were gone forever,” I mumbled into his hoodie.
“It was three hours.”
“Exactly.”
Thomas wrapped his arms around me, placing a kiss on my head. I looked up at him with a pout.
“Oh no,” he teased. “Don’t look at me like that.”
“I missed you,” I said hugging him tighter.
“I can tell.”
I reached for his hand and intertwined our fingers, refusing the let go of him as we walked towards the couch.
“Baby,” Thomas said with a grin, “I have to shower.”
“You can wait.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re impossible.”
We settled on the couch and I immediately curled into his side. My head rested against his chest while his arm wrapped around my waist.
After a few minutes Thomas leaned his head back slightly to look at me.
“You’ve been extra clingy today.”
“I know.”
“You okay?” I nodded against his chest.
“I just missed you.”
His expression softened as he brushed a strand of hair away from my face before pressing a kiss to my forehead.
“I missed you too.”
I looked up at him “You did?” “Of course.”
“Hmm…” I squinted my eyes at him.
“You don’t believe me?”
I shrugged my shoulders.
Thomas rolled his eyes dramatically at my shrug before puling me close enough so that our faces were inches away.
“Better?” I nodded, biting my lip to contain my smile. “Yeah.”
He smiled, squeezing me so tightly I let out a yelp.
“Too tight?” “No.”
After a few minutes of silence we both continued to lay on the couch wrapped in each other.
“You know,” Thomas said quietly. “I love when you’re like this.”
“Really?”
He nodded. “Yeah.”
I looked up at him, my heart melting.
“I love you,” I said, leaning up so that our lips brushed against each others.
“I love you too.” Thomas smiled before placing a sweet kiss on my lips.
“Can I shower now?” He asked quietly.
I pretended to think about it.
“I guess…”
Thomas stood up, but before he even took two steps away from the couch, I hooked two fingers in the sleeve of his hoodie.
He looked back at me with a knowing smile.
“You gonna come with me?”
I nodded.
“So you can sit on the counter and wait for me to get out.”
“Maybe..”
Thomas laughed, unhooking my fingers and intertwining them with his own.
“You can’t go ten minutes without me.”
“No.”
He squeezed my hand gently.
“Good,” Thomas said as we kept walking to the bathroom.
As he showered I sat on the counter and talked his ear off as I waited for him to get out.
I stood by the window in the hotel room wearing one of Lian’s shirts and tiny sleep shorts. I watched the city lights of Dallas shimmer while I absentmindedly played with the wedding band on my finger.
I started to zone out before I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist.
“Hi, bushceli,” Lian murmured, resting his chin on my shoulder.
I didn’t say anything instead I smiled and leaned back against him.
After a few minutes of silence I finally whispered. “My cheeks hurt from smiling so much.”
He laughed softly.
“Mine do too.”
I glanced at my left hand.
“I still can’t believe it.”
Lian followed my gaze before he gently took my hand in his.
“I’ve been waiting to call you my wife forever.”
My cheeks began to get hot. I looked away, trying to hide my smile.
He turned me around to face him, his own smile getting softer, obviously noticing my nervousness.
“My wife,” Lian whispered in my ear.
I laughed resting my head on his chest.
“Lian.”
“My wife.”
I hurried my head deeper in his chest as he chuckled.
Lian gently pulled my head away from his chest, pushing a loose strand of hair away from my face.
“You looked so beautiful today.”
“Thank you,” I said softly. “And you looked handsome.”
“I noticed you crying when I was walking down the aisle.” I continued, smiling.
“I had something in my eye,” Lian responded, pointing towards his eye.
I bursted into laughter, the sound filling up the room.
Eventually we moved to the bed and we sat criss cross on the bed, sharing a piece of our cake.
I looked over at Lian and smiled.
“What?” He asked looking up at me.
“Thinking.”
“About?”
“I can finally call you my husband.”
He reached over and squeezed my hand.
“And I can finally call you my wife.”
My smile widened.
Outside, the city continued buzzing as the night stretched on.

The bar had the music loud enough that I could barely hear anything my friends were saying to me.
I felt my phone buzzing against the table.
I squinted at the screen before answering. “Heyyy”
There was a slight pause on the other end.
“Y/n have you been drinking?” Will asked confused.
I laughed. “Maybe.”
Will let out a sigh that didn’t sound upset but more so concerned.
“Stay where you are. I’m coming.”
“Will I’m having fun-“
“Too late.”
A few minutes later, I was sitting on the curb outside the bar with my friends, resting my head against one of their shoulders.
I spotted Wills car pull up.
“There he is!” One of them called, pointing towards his car.
Will walked over wearing a hoodie and sweats. He walked up and reached his hand out for me to grab it.
“Hey baby.”
I blinked up at him.
“You’re, like, really pretty.”
Will laughed quietly and grabbed my hand to help me stand on my feet.
One of his hands stayed wrapped around my waist while I leaned most of my weight on against him.
“You okay?”
I hummed, nodding my head. Three steps later I tumbled over my own feet. Will caught me effortlessly.
“I tried,” I said while my eyes watered.
“I know you did. Its ok.” Will said pulling me closer to him.
The drive home was quiet, besides the radio playing quietly as I rested my head against the cold window.
My arms wrapped around my stomach and I groaned. “My stomach hurts.”
Will glanced over immediately.
“Too much to drink?” I nodded against the window. “Yeah,” I said quietly.
“We’ll be home soon.”
Once we got home Will guided me inside. We walked into the kitchen and he got me a glass of water.
Will placed against my lips. “Slow sips.”
I obeyed drinking most of the water.
We walked into the bedroom and he found one of his favorite shirts I liked and my sleep shorts.
Once I was changed, I curled on the bed onto my side, knees tucked towards my chest.
“My stomach still hurts.”
Will sat by my feet handing me Advil and placing the glass of water on my nightstand.
“I know baby.”
He rubbed my head, pushing strands of hair away from my forehead.
“You’ll feel better in the morning.”
Will got up and went to the bathroom. He came back with a cool washcloth and a small trash can.
He sat back on the bed sitting a little closer to me.
“Can I?” He asked, placing his hands around my stomach.
I nodded sleepily.
His warm hand settled over my stomach. Not pressing hard but just a gentle pressure. His thumb traced slow circles through the fabric of my shirt.
“Thank you,” I said sleepily.
“Of course.”
Will kept tracing circles.
I let out a sigh. “This feels nice.”
“Good.”
A few minutes passed before my breathing started to get slower.
“Still nauseous?”
“A little.”
“More water?” I shook my head. “No.”
“Did you have fun tonight?” Will asked softly.
I nodded. “A lot.”
He laughed. “Good.”
Will kept rubbing gentle circles across my stomach even after I drifted off.

The hotel room was quiet in a calming way. The soft glow of moonlight peaked through the curtains and the gentle breeze of air that flowed from the window.
I rolled onto my side to already find Wyatt looking at me.
A sleepy smile appeared on his face.
“Hi,” Wyatt murmured.
“Hi,” I replied laughing.
My wedding rings caught the light as our fingers found each others above all the blankets. Neither of us said anything for a while. We just laid there, faces inches apart with small smiles.
Wyatt’s thumb brushed against my knuckles.
“We actually did it,” he said softly.
“I know.” I couldn’t help but smile.
He let out a quiet laugh that made his eyes crinkle.
Another comfortable silence stretched between us.
Wyatt’s blue eyes searched mine that made my heart beat a little faster.
“You know what my favorite part was?” Wyatt asked.
“Just one?”
Wyatt nodded. “The second the doors opened.”
I tilted my head. “Why?”
“When I saw you everything disappeared around me.” He smiled, softer this time.
My eyes started to water.
“You’re gonna make me cry again.”
Wyatt chucked before reaching to place a loose strand of hair behind my hair.
“You’re really here.” His voice was barely above a whisper.
I leaned forward until our noses brushed against each other.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
Wyatt’s eyes fluttered closed for a second. When he opened them again, he had a small smile on his face.
“I love you,” he said. “So much.”
“I love you too.”
Those words felt more certain.
He squeezed my hand gently, lifting it so the moonlight caught the rings again.
“Beautiful,” Wyatt said breathlessly.
“The ring?”
“You.”
He glanced down at our hands.
“And the ring.”
I laughed softly, shaking my head.
Neither of us looked away. We were exactly where we wanted to be.
Just the two of us, wrapped together, sharing sleepy smiles in the quiet day after the best day of our lives.
Eventually, my eyes grew heavy.
Wyatt pressed a lingering kiss to my lips before settling down close enough so that I could hear his heartbeat.

The arena had been loud the whole night. The stars were up 3-1 halfway through the second period.
Lian was chasing the puck. There was a collision, much harder than it should’ve been, and he immediately went down on the ice.
The arena went quiet.
My heart slammed in my chest as the trainers rushed onto the ice.
He shifted once before falling back on the ice, his face twisted in pain.
I was already standing before anyone moved.
“He’ll be okay,” one of the WAGS told me gently.
I nodded, but my eyes never left him.
When Lian was helped off the ice, I got up and left the stands.
The training staff wouldn’t let anyone back, so I paced outside, twisting the sleeves of my jersey around my fingers.
Finally, from what felt like forever, someone stepped out.
“You can come in now.”
I hurried inside.
Lian sat on the examination table with ice wrapped around his ankle, looking exhausted but still smiling.
“Hey, bushceli.”
I crossed the room in three steps.
“I hate you so much.”
Lian blinked confused.
Then I threw my arms around his waist as carefully as I could.
He laughed before wincing.
“Careful.”
“Sorry.”
Tears began to form in my eyes I hadn’t realized were sitting there.
“I thought,” my voice cracked. “I thought something horrible happened.”
Lians expression softened as he reached and brushed the tears away with his thumb.
“I’m okay. I promise.”
I didn’t say anything. Instead, I rested my head on his shoulder.
“I love you,” I whispered.
“I love you too.”
Lian was sent home with a pair of crutches and he would hear from the doctors some time tomorrow morning.
The ride home was silent until Lian finally muttered, “I hate this.”
I looked over.
“I know.”
“I was playing so good.”
“You were.”
“I’m so horrible.”
I reached over the console and squeezed his hand.
“They don’t need you skating today.”
“What?” He frowned.
“They need you healthy.”
He stared ahead for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.
“I hate when you’re right.”
I laughed. “I know.”
The next morning he got call that he had a fracture in his ankle and he needed surgery. Lian took the news gently. The surgery was planned to be on December 5.
I sat in the waiting room for what felt like forever. Every time someone on scrubs walked by, my head snapped up. I couldn’t focus on anything.
Finally, the surgeon came into the waiting room.
“Surgery went very well.”
I let out a sigh. “Good.”
“We repaired the injury and placed all the bones into their correct place. Now the hard part begins.”
The first week of rehab was brutal.
Lian absolutely hated needing help to do everything.
I helped him get settled on the couch.
“I got it.”
“You sure?”
“Yea-“
Before he could finish, he tried standing without his crutches. His ankle immediately gave out.
I caught him before he hit the floor.
His frustration finally exploded.
“Gosh, I hate this!”
He rubbed his hands over his face.
“I hate feelings useless.”
I placed on my hand on his back.
“You’re not useless baby.”
“I feel like I am.”
“You just had surgery five days ago. You need to heal.” I said gently.
Physical therapy wasn’t any better
Some days he had a big smile on his face. Some days he sat in the car, staring straight ahead.
“I kept falling.”
I looked over at him.
“So?”
Lina laughed bitterly.
“Two months of this crap and I still haven’t gotten better.”
I reached over and squeezed his thigh.
“It’s going to take time.”
“It should hurry up.”
“It won’t.”
That evening I found him staring at his hockey bag.
“What wrong baby?” I asked walking over to him.
“I miss this.”
My chest tightened.
He kicked the bag softly with his healthy foot.
“I don’t know when I’ll ever wear any of this again.”
I leaned my head on his arm and rubbed his back.
“You will soon. I promise.”
When two months hit after surgery, his physical therapist cleared him to practice but not to do anything to ruff.
I stood behind the glass, watching him closely.
Lian stepped on the ice. He skated around slowly at first and slowly got faster as he kept going.
When practice ended, he skated up to me. He pulled off his helmet, smiling.
“I did it.”
I smiled so hard my face hurt.
“I saw.”
Lian laughed.
“You’re happier than me.”
“Maybe.”
The night Lian played his first game back, the crowd roared when they saw him.
Watching him skate again with his team made everything worth it.
After the game, still wearing half of his gear, Lian found me waiting outside the locker room.
Without saying anything, he wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me off the ground slightly.

woke up to an empty bed, looking around the room my phone read 12:53 a.m.
The house was quiet in a way that said everyone in the house was sound asleep. Every now and then I would hear the AC hum.
I groaned as I got out of bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, and stretched my arms above my head. I padded into the kitchen in small sleep shorts and one of Gavin’s hoodie from Penn.
Gavin stood in the kitchen getting himself water, hair sticking up in every direction, one sleeve from his shirt rolled up around his shoulder. He looked over his shoulder as I stood in the doorway and smiled immediately.
“Hey baby. I got thirsty,” Gavin’s voice a little raspy.
I let out a tired laugh. “I noticed.”
Gavin brought the cup to his lips with a small smile before setting it down gently.
I walked over to the counter and placed my elbows on it with my face in my hands.
“You good?” Gavin asked gently.
“Yea.” I shrugged.
“Tell me what’s going on.” His voice wasn’t demanding instead it was calm.
“I think I’m just overwhelmed.”
Gavin nodded. “I could tell.”
I looked up at him. “Really?”
“You’ve been zoning out since yesterday.”
I laughed. “I’m that obvious?”
“Kinda.” The corner of his mouth lifted. “I wanted to wait until you wanted to talk.”
Gavin never pushed me. He just stayed close until I felt comfortable enough to open up.
“I’m better now,” I said softly.
“I can tell.”
I smiled.
“You know I can read you well.”
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
For a few minutes, neither of us said anything. The silence wasn’t awkward, it was comfortable and safe.
Gavin reached for his phone out of his sweatpant pocket.
“What are you doing?” I asked, trying to look over his phone.
“You’ll see.”
After he typed a few words, slow dancing in the dark by joji started playing.
Gavin set his phone on the counter before he walked over to me, he held out his hand.
“May I have this dance?”
I laughed. “Right now?”
Gavin nodded with a huge smile on his face.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“Best part of my charm.”
I slipped my hand into his. Gavin’s fingers laced with mine like a puzzle piece.
He rested one hand on my waist before squeezing my hand to place his other hand there. My arms wrapped around his neck.
Then, slowly, Gavin started swaying side to side.
“You know,” I murmured, “you’re not a very good dancer.”
“What!” Gavin yelled slightly.
I immediately placed my hand over his mouth. “Shut up!”
Gavin smiled against my hand before placing a soft kiss on the palm of my hand. I took it away slowly and placed it back around his neck.
“Meanie,” Gavin whispered.
“You’ve stepped on my foot three times.”
“I’m being…affectionate.”
I placed my head into his chest as I laughed so hard I almost fell over.
One of Gavin’s hand stayed on my waist while the other slide up my back to steady me.
“Don’t die on me now.”
“This is why I don’t trust you.”
The song continued to drift quietly through the kitchen.
I rested my head against his chest again. Gavin leaned his cheek against the top of my head.
His heartbeat was steady under my ear. His hoodie smelt like his cologne with a hint of laundry.
I felt Gavin to start trace circles on my back with my thumb.

I’ve always had a thing for tattoos, not in a weird way but I find to make a person more attractive.
When I first met Gavin I became obsessed with the tattoos he had on his forearm.
We were at my house laying on my bed. The room was quiet except for the quiet sound of the TV that neither of us were really paying attention to.
I was tucked against Gavin’s side, wrapped in a white fluffy blanket. One of Gavin’s arms rested around my waist while my head was resting on his chest.
I shifted slightly, my fingers brushed against the cabin tattoo on the front of his forearm.
Gavin felt my touch on his arm, laughing softly with a small smile on his face. “What are you doing?” he asked softly.
“Nothing,” I murmured.
Gavin glanced down as my fingertips traced the lines with careful movements.
“You do this all the time.” Gavin teased.
“Do you not like it?” I asked, my movements stopping slowly.
“Never. I love it baby.”
“It’s so pretty,” I said as my fingers continued to move against his tattoo.
Gavin laughed quietly.
“Pretty?”
I hummed, nodding my head.
“I don’t think anyone’s called my tattoo pretty.”
I shrugged, smiling a little.
“First time for everything.”
Gavin’s arm relaxed more as I continued tracing. Every once in a while he would glance down, watching my fingers trace the ink on his arm.
“It kinda tickles,” Gavin admitted.
I started to pull my hand away again, but he caught it before my hand even pulled away.
“Don’t stop.”
My eyes met Gavin’s blue ones, and he had a familiar grin on his face that always made me melt.
“I like it.”
I resumed, this time slower, my pointer finger tracing the branches of the trees. Gavin’s eyes closed for a second, letting out a sigh.
“I could fall asleep.”
“You basically are.”I looked up and noticed Gavin’s eyes closed.
“I’m resting my eyes.”
I laughed quietly as Gavin opened his eyes with a smile.
After a few seconds of silence, Gavin leaned his forehead against mine.
“Baby,” Gavin mumbled, “you’re making it impossible to stay awake.”
“You wanted to nap.”
“I do.”
“So go to sleep.”
Gavin’s arm tightened around my waist that made me laugh quietly.
“You’re stuck here,” Gavin said softly.
“I can live with that.”
“Good.” Gavin placed a kiss on my head.
I started tracing random patterns over the tattoo, occasionally rubbing circles with my thumb.
Gavin’s hand that was around my waist slid my back and rubbed gentle circles between my shoulder blades.
“I need more days like this,” Gavin said.
I leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. Once we parted Gavin smiled immediately.
“Every time you do that…,” Gavin mumbled.
“What?” I hummed.
“I always forget what I’m gonna say.”
“Is that a compliment?”
“Of course.”
I laughed before settling back against Gavin’s chest. His chin rested on the top of my head.
After a few minutes, Gavin’s breathing evened out, and his hand stopped rubbing circles on my back.
I stayed exactly where I was, my fingers rested lightly over the tattoo I’d been tracing.
The sun began to set as we continued to lay there together. Soon my eyes became to get heavy and I slowly drifted into sleep.

The pool in the Smiths backyard glittered under the sun, the backyard was filled with laughter from Will and a few of his friends from BC as they all splashed each other.
I sat in a sun chair, the sun kissed my skin as Will walked towards me.
“Get in,” Will said, poking my cheek. “The water is nice.”
“It’s freezing,” I laughed.
“It’s not,” Will responded poking my arm this time.
“It is.”
Will rolled his eyes dramatically before wrapping one of his arms under my back and the other under my knee.
“I guess I’ll just have to do it..”
Will suddenly threw my body into the pool.
“Will!” I yelled as I began to get thrown.
Will jumped in after me. When I finally came up from the water I hit the back of his head when I noticed it starting to peak out of the water.
“I hate you!” I yelled, trying not to laugh.
“You love me,” Will smirked, brushing the wet strands of hair out of my face.
I splashed water in his face.
“Y/n you started a dangerous game.”
For 10 minutes, we chased each other through the water, splashing each other, laughing until our sides started to hurt.
Eventually I stopped, catching my breath.
“I’m tired,” I admitted.
“Already?” Will asked smiling.
“I’ve been running around with an athlete. It’s not very fair.”
Will floated closer, placing his hands on my waist.
“I have an idea.”
Before I could ask Will turned around, his back facing me now.
“Hop on.”
I laughed as I wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders. Will hooked his arms under my thighs, lifting me effortlessly until I was rested comfortably on his back.
“There you go,” Will said quietly.
Will walked through the water, carrying me across the lake as I rested my chin on his shoulder.
“This is nice,” I murmured against his shoulder.
“I’ve trained for this moments.”
I giggled, squeezing Will gently.
“Really?”
Will hummed nodding his head.
The two of us drifted into the deeper end of the pool farther away from everyone. I rested my cheek against his shoulder.
“You’re warm.”
“I thought you said the water was cold.”
“It was.”
“And now?” Will asked, turning his head slightly over his shoulder.
“I’m comfortable.”
Will smiled softly. “Good.”
For a few minutes, neither of us said anything. Will kept swimming around slowly, carrying me effortlessly as the sun began to set.
I placed a soft kiss on Wills cheek.
“I love you.”
“I love you too,” Will responded, turning his head to place a kiss on my cheek.
“If you get tired you can put me down.”
Will laughed.
“I can do this all day.”
I smiled against his shoulder, closing my eyes and letting my body completely relax against him.

Me and Justin have been dating for 6 months. We met at the beginning of the season after running into each other.
Since the Stars had an early exit of the playoffs me and Justin decided to go up to L’île-Bizard.
This whole week I had been a nervous wreck. The thought of people not liking me was my worst nightmare, especially my boyfriend’s family.
Justin immediately noticed my nervousness while the uber was driving us to his parent’s house.
“Baby you’ve asked me if they are going to like you a million times,” Justin said quietly as he placed a hand on my thigh.
“I just wanna make a good impression.”
“You will,” he responded squeezing my leg.
I finally looked over at Justin. “You don’t know that.”
“I do.” Justin moved his hand and intertwined his fingers with mine.
“They’re excited to meet you,” he said looking at me with his big puppy dog eyes.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as I rolled my eyes, trying not to grin.
When we arrived, Justin opened the door and immediately his parents came walking towards us.
“There he is!”
His mom pulled Justin into a warm hug before I felt a pair of arms wrap around me.
“You must be y/n! We’ve heard so much about you,” She says resting her hands on my arms.
Her sweet smile and warm aura instantly made my nerves fade away.
The house smelled like homemade bread and a hint of cinnamon.
There were many family photos in the hallway, Justin and his brother in hockey uniforms.
“Oh god,” Justin groaned. “They’re gonna show you the most embarrassing pictures ever.”
His parents laughed as they walked a little ahead of us.
“They’re the best ones!”
Dinner felt like I was having a conversation with people I’d known forever.
Justin’s dad asked me about what I did.
His mom asked about how we officially met.
When Justin would try and tell an old story his brother, Dylan, would interrupt and correct Justin.
“That’s not how it happened.”
“Yes it is.”
“Nope.”
I had a smile on my face the whole dinner.
After everyone finished, his mom disappeared for a second before returning with an old photo book.
Justin sighed dramatically, rubbing his hands down his face.
“I should’ve known this was coming.”
His mom placed it in front of me and I opened it to the first page.
I gasped. “Awww.”
Tiny Justin, chubby cheeks, messy hair and holding a hockey stick bigger than he was.
“Oh my god,” I said smiling while pointing at the picture.
“Don’t.”
“You were so adorable.”
“I was not,” Justin said as he placed his forehead on my shoulder.
After a few minutes of looking through the book, his mom and dad came back with dessert.
During it his parents talked about how determined and competitive he was about everything. Also how he would always practice in the driveway until it was too dark to see anything.
I glanced over at Justin.
“So you’ve always been so stubborn.”
Justin looked over at me and smiled. “Yeah, pretty much.”
When everyone finished dessert and cleaned everything up. We all gathered in the living room.
Dylan decided we should all play a card game.
While playing it I was laughing so hard I almost passed out after Justin lost the first round.
“You changed the rules!” Justin said pointing at Dylan.
“I absolutely did not!”
As outside got darker and the house got more quiet Justin led me upstairs to his childhood room.
Justin laughed as he pushed open his door. “I haven’t changed it very much since I left.”
The room was full of hockey posters, golden trophies on a shelf, and a few pictures of his family.
Justin rubbed the back of his neck as I walked in.
“It’s kinda weird seeing this room again.”
I wandered over to the shelf that held all the trophies and pictures, smiling at a young picture of Justin.
“My god you’re so cute.”
Justin laughed, wrapping his arms around my waist.
“Should’ve known these pictures were going to always haunt me.”
After we changed into more comfortable clothes, we both laid on his bed that slightly creaked cause of how old it was.
The house had grown silent, except for the occasional creak of the floorboards as Dylan walked around upstairs.
I laid beside Justin and turned towards him.
“I love this.”
“Love what?”
“Everything. Meeting your family.”
Justin reached over and placed a piece of hair behind my ear.
“I wanted you meet the people that mean the most to me.”
My heart melted.
“They’re so sweet.”
“I told you they would love you.”
I smiled as Justin shifted closer to me until there was barely any space between us.
I curled into his side, resting my head on his chest as he wrapped an arm around my waist. I could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat under my ear.
Justin pressed a kiss to my head.
“I’m glad you’re here.”
I smiled into his shirt.
“I’m glad you invited me.”
We stayed wrapped in each other’s warmth, comfortable in the silence of the house.
Eventually, Justin leaned back down and placed a soft kiss on my lips. “Goodnight.”
“Night,” I whispered back sleepily.
Justin’s arms stayed wrapped around me as the two of us drifted to sleep.

Me and Wyatts relationship was still new. The most we have ever done was hold hand’s, still that took us forever to successfully do.
We were in Toronto visiting Wyatts family during the offseason. We decided to go on walk in his neighborhood. The streetlights illuminated the sidewalk and the few lights of some houses had on in the night.
As we were walking I noticed in the corner of my eye Wyatt kept glancing at me. Not in an obvious way at least he thought.
Quick looks when I laughed. A few seconds too long when I started talking.
Every single time my eyes met Wyatts, both of us immediately looked away.
I walked beside him, our shoulders slightly touching as our arms swung.
I felt the brush of his sleeve touch my arm. The barely touches made my heart race.
Not just because Wyatt was walking so closer. But because I could smell Wyatts cologne when I turned my head towards him. Every time Wyatt smiled at me, my stomach did a little flip.
At this point in the walk neither of us knew where we were going we just kept walking straight taking turns every once in a while.
When we walked our fingers brushed against each others. We both froze, even though we’ve already held hands before.
“Sorry,” we both said at the same time.
A nervous laugh escaped me.
A grin appeared on Wyatts face.
“Love that,” Wyatt said softly.
“What?”
“Your laugh.”
My heart nearly skipped a beat.
Wyatt looked equally surprised when he said that out loud.
“Um,” Wyatt mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. “I just like it.”
Warmth rushed to my cheeks that made me look away.
We kept walking in comfortable silence. Wyatt started walking closer to me.
I slightly turned my head towards Wyatt, staring at his lips.
Judging by the way his breath caught, I knew he definitely noticed.
Wyatt turned his head. His gaze dropping to my lips too.
We stopped on the corner of the street but neither of us kept walking.
But just as I wanted to lean in closer, nerves took over.
What if he wasn’t actually trying to kiss me?
Wyatts hand shifted closer to mine as we continued to stand there.
My pinky brushed his.
Our fingers slowly tangled together.
Wyatt looked down at our joined hands and brought it up to his lips as he places a kiss on my hand and smiled.
“You know,” Wyatt said as he brought our hands back down.
I hummed.
“I’ve been wanting to kiss you since we held hands for the first time.”
I laughed, leaning in a little closer.
Wyatts face immediately turned red.
“Why did I say that?” Wyatt groaned, rubbed his free hand down his face.
I laughed again, a little louder.
“I’ve been wanting to kiss you too,” I admitted.
Wyatt blinked.
“Really?”
I nodded.
Neither of us looked away this time.
Slowly, Wyatt leaned in.
I met him halfway.
The kiss was soft and sweet. My free hand was placed on his bicep as Wyatts held my waist. The kiss was a little clumsy because both of us were smiling too much.
When we finally pulled back, our foreheads leaned against each other.
Wyatt let out a relieved laugh.
“That was way easier than I expected.”
“I know.”
Our hands were still connected as Wyatt squeezed mine. The smile Wyatt gave me made me think it was worth the wait.

Long distance dating wasn’t hard for me. It was when I needed Wyatt the most all we could do was talk on the phone.
The cold side of the bed when I got home after a bad day. Waiting for his games to end when it was already 3 a.m for me. The photos of Wyatt smiling with his teammates while I sat in my apartment missing him more than anything.
Some days when the thoughts got too loud all I could do was lay in my bed and scroll on my phone with tears streaming down my face.
And, unfortunately, today was one of those days.
I was curled under a fuzzy blanket, scrolling on my phone. It was around 11 when Wyatt’s game ended.
The Stars won 4-3, and they posted a picture of Wyatt wearing the cowboy hat with Thomas next to him.
I was happy, of course, how could I not be. But there was an ache in my chest I couldn’t ignore.
Does he even think about me when i’m not with him?
One thing i’ve learned about Wyatt is that he would do anything in the world to make sure I felt loved.
Still the thoughts laid in the back of mind constantly.
I didn’t realize I zoned until my phone started vibrating.
wyatt 💞
I answered it immediately.
Wyatt’s smile was the biggest i’ve ever seen it.
“Hey pretty girl.”
My eyes didn’t match the smile I had on my face.
Of course, Wyatt noticed instantly. His smile softened.
“Y/n.”
“Yeah?”
Wyatt’s eyebrows narrowed at me.
“What’s the matter?”
No matter how hard I tried he could always see right through me.
“Nothing.”
“Baby.”
I looked away, staring at the dark TV in front of me.
Wyatt sighed softly.
It looked like he was back at his apartment. The couch came into view as he sat on it.
“I know that face.”
“It’s stupid.”
“Then tell me.”
I laughed as I leaned my head back and closing my eyes for a second.
Wyatt waited patiently.
I finally leaned back up and gave in.
“Sometimes I just…” I shrugged. “I see you living this best live and I’m 3,000 miles away from you.”
Wyatt’s expression turned serious.
“Oh.”
His voice made my heart sink.
“It’s stupid.”
“No it’s not.” Wyatt shook his head. “You just miss me.”
I blinked.
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“Yea you do.”
“No.”
A small smile appeared on Wyatt’s face.
I rolled my eyes because I knew that smile.
Wyatt shifted the phone slightly.
“Can I tell you something?”
“Of course.”
“Throughout all the intermissions I looked at pictures of us.”
I laughed.
“No you didn’t.”
“Yes I did.”
“Wyatt.”
“I’m so serious.”
Wyatt shared his screen with me as he opened his photos app and pulled up the folder of pictures of us together.
My cheeks started to feel warm.
“You actually have a whole folder?”
“Babe.” Wyatt looked offended. “Of course I do.”
I smiled.
“Still.”
“Y/n, listen to me.” His voice softened.
“I know this long distance sucks.” I nodded as he continued. “I know there are days when my life is moving and yours is going in the opposite direction.”
My throat began to tighten.
“None of this would work without you.”
The honest look he had in his eyes made it impossible to not believe him.
“When something good happens, I wanna call you first. When something bad happens, I wanna call you first.”
“Immediately when the season starts I count down the days till I have a game there or until I can see you again.”
My eyes immediately stung.
“Wyatt…”
“Baby, I’m so serious.” Wyatt smiled softly as he continued. “You know what everyone teases me about?”
“What?”
“How much I text, call and FaceTime you.”
I laughed.
“You’re obsessed.”
“Damn right I am.”
I laughed at how fast he said it.
“There she is,” Wyatt said softly.
“What?”
“My favorite sound.”
I groaned. “You’re so cheesy.”
“Only for you.”
The ache I had in my chest was now replaced with a warm feeling.
Because Wyatt always made me feel better. Never told me I was being dramatic. Never made me for feeling guilty.
Wyatt met everything with patience.
After a few seconds of silence, Wyatt spoke up.
“You know,” Wyatt said suspiciously.
I hummed.
“We have game there soon.”
My eyes widened. How could I completely forget?
“What?”
Wyatt grinned.
“Yup. Two weeks.”
A smile appeared across my face.
“Two weeks,” I repeated.
Wyatt nodded.
“Two weeks.”
Even though we were thousand miles apart I felt like he was right in front of me.
“I love you,” Wyatt said quietly.
I smiled. “I love you too.”
He settled back further into the couch. “So much.”
I laughed.
Wyatt proved everyday we didn’t need to see each other all the time all we needed was each other. He made the distance small.

Me and Wyatt have been dating for about two months and the most we have done is give each other pecks. Both of us had the fear of wanting to do something and the other not wanting to.
We were walking back to the hotel we were staying at in Cabo. The streets were quiet, the cold night air made my arms get goosebumps, and the waves crashed against each other in a calming way.
I could feel Wyatt’s presence next to me without even looking. The soft brush of his shoulder against mine sent a feeling through my chest.
Neither of us said very much. We just walked in comfortable silence.
My hand swung by my side, and for a millisecond my pinky brushed against Wyatts.
I immediately pulled away.
Wyatt did too.
I felt my cheeks get warm from embarrassment.
We kept walking like nothing happened until our pinky brushed against each others again.
This time neither of us moved away as fast.
I stared directly in front of me.
Wyatt seemed to find the streetlights very interesting.
I let out a nervous laugh.
“Sorry.”
“For what?” Wyatt asked.
“Our hands keep…” I trailed off not wanting to somehow embarrass myself more.
“Yeah, it’s ok.” Wyatt mumbled.
The silence only made it worse.
And then, as I was spacing out, I felt the side of Wyatts pink reaching for mine.
Not quite touching yet. Just slightly hovering, testing the waters. He was giving me every chance to move away.
For a second my breath caught as my pinky nudged his.
Apparently two people who can handle thousands of people in an arena can’t hold eye contact with each other.
I could practically feel Wyatt smiling. The thought made my own smile grow.
Then his pinky gently hook around mine.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as we both stared straight ahead.
A few steps later, Wyatts hand shifted. I naturally lid my fingers between his.
As we continued walking I finally glanced at Wyatt. Unfortunately, Wyatt had the same idea.
Both of us froze.
Wyatts ears turned bright red.
We both laughed.
And despite all the nervousness, neither of us wanted to let go.
