Certainly, something has changed in him... He didn't feel hostile at all. Cold eyes to cold eyes just felt like winter, but... Not a blizzard, since Kyo's definitely had some warmth he didn't for that long.

Kyo felt more like a tired elderly than a former threat.

"It's a surprise to see one of the Five Stars just having a change of heart."

Is there hope then? But he wouldn't forgive those who had wronged him though...

"... I'm Kamishiro. There were rumors around about you quitting that group, and forming a brand new one with no intent to delete the digimon."

Kamishiro continued, "I suppose those were true. You don't seem like a cold-blooded person anymore. I'm relieved."

He didn't approach though, not sure if it was a good option. But the more allies against the World Union, the better.

"I haven't been a member of the Five Stars for a long time, now...But, you've done your homework if you know that I used to be one of them. Whoever told you those rumors was spot on, as well. I'm in charge of the Glowing Dawn Cleaner group these days. We're just doing our best to make ends meet, though."

Kamishiro...This person didn't seem familiar to Kyo. But, he was clearly wary of him...Likely because of his old reputation. Kyo couldn't really fault him if that was the case, considering how many lives he'd ended in the past. He still commanded a reputation, even today, because of it.

But...Kyo the Golden was a relic of the past now. Kyo Sawashiro was a man who wanted to make a world where humans and Digimon could coexist, inherited from those who had given him what he'd always truly desired...A family. So, it was up to him to keep that dream alive, in honor of their memory.

That begged the question, though...Why was Kamishiro here?

"Now...I hope you don't mind me getting down to business, Kamishiro. I doubt you came here solely to confirm those rumors you mentioned. So...Would you mind telling me why you're here? I'm afraid I can't offer you any tea right now, but I can at least hear you out."

He could do that much, at least, considering Kamishiro seemed to have gone to all the trouble of finding "Kyo the Golden"...And, besides, Kyo wouldn't deny being a little curious himself.

...Kyo would pause, for a moment.

This young man knew who he was. Or, more accurately...It sounded like he knew of who Kyo used to be. But, the ordinary person wouldn't know that...Was he a Cleaner for the Ministry, perhaps? That was the best guess Kyo could come up with, but...Considering he was at a disadvantage, maybe learning more might be more helpful than jumping to conclusions.

Either way, Kyo would flash a kind smile in the hopes of getting the other to come a little closer. He wouldn't bite, not anymore...But, he wouldn't deny his curiosity, either.

"That alias and everything associated with it is in the past now, I'm afraid...But, yes. I am Kyo Sawashiro, all the same. Is there something I can help you with, by any chance?"

Phew, all caught up with Super Robot Wars Y, just in time for the final DLC release tomorrow...I go down to celebrate my dad's 68th birthday in about half an hour, so I might post an ask meme from my drafts and reblog my promo post again to spread the word before goofing off a bit.

...I wound up making a few more icons before I went to bed too, so I'm packing plenty of new expressions to work with for RP shenanigans!

In other news...I am, unfortunately, done with icon making for the time being. As in, I've exhausted finding good screencaps to icon and I don't want to find raws of Episode 41 of Beatbreak for very specific shots. Over the past two to three days, I've made...Oh, 178 icons for both Kyo and Murasamemon (and Cougarmon and a certain surprise for later).

...I only wish I could use some of these icons sometime soon, because I'm proud of how they came out. I need to work on replies, but...I got so sidetracked on icon making that I forgot to even do that properly, I'm sorry.

And yet...He had heard that voice. Felt the chill of terror run down his spine, the memories of seeing the ones he cherished dying in the water...That muddled water, stained red with blood. The cold hand of somebody he held dear in his, the life gone from their eyes...The pure, unbridled hate he had felt upon learning who had done it, and why...

...And now, all Kyo wanted to do was to deny he heard it. To pretend he was alright, even though he stretched himself thin time and again to ensure things were alright for those he cared for. Because if he acknowledged the truth...He didn't know what he might do next...

"I...I must be hearing things. Y-Yes, that's it...I-I...I killed him. That's right...I killed him for what he did..."

Meanwhile...All Cougarmon could do was watch Kyo with worry in his eyes. That had definitely been the voice of THAT man...The one who had robbed Kyo of what he held most dear. That emotionless tone...Nothing could disguise it.

But...Had he truly survived, somehow...?

The way Kyo approaches him makes Raito instinctively freeze. He doesn't know the Glowing Dawn's leader all that well, but he's seen that expression before on the adults who would beat him for speaking out of turn.

"...I never said aiming for the top was an easy life," he says, his voice uncharacteristically timid now, "but it's not like it's any better on the bottom. I've killed people too."

Coldhearted. There was a difference. It didn't matter to Raito, though. If the Glowing Dawn hadn't stopped Klay and gotten everyone's e-pulse back, they never would have woken up, and their blood would have been on Raito's hands. It still haunted him, though he wasn't about to admit it.

"Being an attack dog is what being a Cleaner is. It's the price we pay for keeping our Digimon. My frie-... teammates and I did a lot of horrible stuff when we were part of Tactics. Still do sometimes."

And yet, maybe he could understand Kyo a little, because thinking of the things they did in Tactics made Raito want to protect Hotaruko and Granit from having to do anything like that again... But he wasn't going to dwell on that. He was going to push the feeling down and ignore it, because it wasn't like the ex-Tactics members were his family or anything like that. There wasn't room for that in this line of work.

"But fine, do what you want. Kaito might come after you though, that guy's really stubborn."

"Let him come."

Kaito was a stubborn sort...That part would never change. Kyo had accepted it a long time ago. If he came with Flaremon in tow, then he'd tackle the problem head on, for the sake of his family. Besides...Kaito didn't scare him.

No, that dubious honor belonged to a rotting piece of scum...The former Star of Water. But, he was long gone by now...

"...After all, he's not the one I'm afraid of. No, that person died a long time ago for his sins. For all of the lives we've taken, those he took truly didn't deserve to be lost."

Kyo had made sure of that himself.

...He needed to change the subject, though. Remembering them made his heart hurt...Threatened to open old emotional wounds that he tried to bury. Maybe he'd see if this was the only reason Raito had come to him...?

"Let's move on from this, though. Was Kaito complaining about me the only reason you came to speak to me, Raito?"
