Hello hello, welcome to my blog. You can call me Frost. I use he/it pronouns, and I’m in my mid 20s. This blog is for sharing my writing, brainstorming, collecting stuff that reminds me of my oc’s, and interacting with other writers/sharing their writing. I also talk about my personal life from time to time.
I'm open to ask games and tag games, but I also have a Very bad memory, so it may take me a while to remember to respond to them.
Genre-wise i like writing sci-fi, paranormal, horror, and romance, just to name a few. Topic-wise i like to write about ghosts, curses, memory loss, dream within a dream type scenarios, time loops, and unethical science experiments.Â
Projects:
WIPs -Â
Scorpion Grass: A poll-lead choose your own adventure about an amnesiac who travels between two settings to try to solve the mystery of how he lost his memory, as well as the other mysteries dropped at his feet. You can read it here.
An Unshakable Shadow: The story of Vi, a flighty con artist whose gambling habit gets her into trouble, and Raven, a taciturn assassin whose latest job gets Vi out of trouble. Vi doesn’t stay out of trouble for long, though, and this time Raven will be along for the ride.Â
A Viscous Curse (Potion Tester): Unable to die permanently, Simon was taken by a lich as the “perfect test subject”. after centuries of experiments, one finally goes wrong in a way that allows Simon to escape. Now he must make sense of the world that’s changed so much in his absence with the help of a young half-elf named Trilline. You can read it here or join the tag list here.
Short Stories -
Untitled: The story of a private investigator who doesn't believe in ghosts.
A Night at the Fall Fair: Pumpkins are acquired, drinks are drunk, costumes are covered in hay, and everyone has a good time.
Untitled: The story of an exorcist out of her depth.
The girl dressed in blood: The story of a person who will do anything to be remembered.
I made a new oc but I am missing a name so I am consulting the only expert I know that can give me what I want: baby name sites ran by white american moms.
Aryel (human), Desdemona (centaur), Omri (fwen), Kelstari (elm), and Bairon (human) are all in a qpr with each other. It was kind of…assigned, in the way that marriage usually would be, because they’re the High Mages, bonded as family. But over time those bonds definitely grew to be real
Aryel and Desdemona despised each other in training before the final mages were chosen, but were clever enough to realize that attempting to undermine each other would likely get them both disqualified, so made themselves work together. They continued to hate each other until young adulthood though, when they finally bonded
Omri and Kelstari fell in love in their youth, when the group was training closely. And then they broke up, messily, and had to keep the whole thing a secret and still work together. They were also adults before they became friends again
Aryel and Wyllawher (human) also fell in love in their youth. Except that Wylla was the sole heir to the neighboring kingdom, so it could never go beyond a fling. The fact that it did, and that it ended many times only to begin again when they next met, were what made it so tragic
Aryel and Lolom (orc) would fall in love much later and much slower, spending time together at court when Aryel was recovering from wounds and Lolom was a royal advisor, and they shared their interests and grew comfortable together
Aryel and Trescal (centaur) became friends in youth when they were training as a mage and he was being trained as a physician. They grew closer in adulthood as he was usually the attending doctor when someone important was wounded. Eventually it became romantic
Trescal was married in the traditional arranged way to his centaur wife (name tbd). The two lived basically as roommates with little romantic interest but an ammicable relationship and occasional sex (they had 3 children)
Trescal’s wife was lovers with Desdemona, the two having started chatting at long dull royal events. They were quiet and subtle and largely friends with benefits
Omri had one casual lover with little close connection for the better part of her life, and another as well in the second half that was much closer but also more volatile
Kelstari had no longterm lovers, but a number of different shorter relationships over his life
the thing is that i actually do enjoy romance in fiction but i also believe that romance-repulsed aros have the right to complain that NOTHING is made for them except maybe kids media. once you start to realize how pervasive romance is in every sector of society it's impossible to ignore. like you remember when there were barely any gay shows on television and straight people expected us to be grateful for the one gay side character on a network show? that's exactly how it feels with romance all the time. i want to see media created by adults for adults that doesn't involve romance anywhere in the plot. i want to see characters (main characters!!!) not want romance and not be treated as broken or crazy. i want a world where my romance-repulsed friends aren't confined to kids media (and even then, to only a limited selection)
leaden welter of limbs
stretched thin, cellophane over a bridge
denies passage to a vertigo stricken mix
the cacophony of calamity demands
why won’t you let the light in
their backs turned to the skin
they don’t see the light has grown too dim
boxed behind a lack of flow
behind a heart that beats to slow and so
we return to where we begin
leaden limbs stretched too thin
not fit to cross that luminous bridge
Hey how's it going today? Do you have big plans or little plans? Are you feeling a certain Mood or Vibe? What are you listening to/watching/reading lately?
These are my questions for you, online person. Please allow me to peek into the window of your life. And we can lock eyes. And I will flash a Twin Peaks style, slightly-too-intense thumbs up.
You wake up cold, with wet seeping into your clothes from where your body meets the damp plants beneath you. The sky above you is white-blue, vast and cloudless. The only things stopping the sky from meeting the horizon in all directions are the burned remains of a forest, and a shack. The shack is in the opposite direction of the forest, but it looks like the fire got to it as well.
The only thing that seems to have been spared from the blaze is the field you’re sitting in. You can’t remember how or why you’re here. In fact, you can’t seem to remember much of anything. You think, as the cold sinks in, that you should do something about this.Â
Are You A Writer? Are you working on a current project and thinking it's too good and cohesive?
Comment on this post with the name and general premise of your WIP and I will send you an ask with an artistically shitty prompt just for you and your project!
Offer expires when I either get bored, overwhelmed, or forget that I decided to do this.
sorry boss can't come in today i was on my way to work and then a gentle spring breeze kissed my cheek and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world
i love when a character is a ghost but in a tragic way instead of a scary way. i love when a character has been dead from the beginning but is still holding on to stay in the narrative. i love when a character could choose to resent the living but ends up loving them instead. i love when a character drives the story but isn’t quite there enough to be at the center of it. i love when the ghosts are the protectors instead of the ones causing the harm. i love when a character is at the heart of the story because depending on where you began it, no matter how you told it, the story is about the ghost who struggled to keep their humanity
not only is a short story under 7,500, if you’re writing for a lit mag or other similar publication, I’ve never known one to take more than 3,000 words for a fiction feature, which, trust me, is less than you can ever imagine. if you can write short, that’s a gift. it’s harder! make someone feel something with fewer words!! it’s masterful!!
feeling less than the writers around me/comparing myself to other writers
not getting the numbers I was hoping for (likes, kudos, views, etc)
loneliness - I just really want writer friends
wanting to post about my writing but not knowing what to post about it
the fear of rejection/being cringe
the fear of being out of touch / behind on the times
other (tell me in replies or tags!)
I'm just here to see the results

I'm just really curious. This has nothing to do with my merch thing, I'm just curious what my audience/followers are most struggling with these days. ❤️ Thanks for voting. No pressure to reblog.
