This is where I'll be blogging all SPN content (which I've been flooding my poor Hannibal moots with for the past four months on my main)
I'll mostly be focused on Castiel and Dean— just know that if I'm posting Sam stuff, I'm in my feelings and it's gonna be sad around here— with heavy focus on destiel stuff
Nsfw art and text posts make rounds on this blog so beware.
The thing is that Sam/Ruby is such a beautiful example of a toxic, abusive relationship but it gets ignored because of the "demon blood"
She manipulates him the entire time. She isolates him from his friends and family and makes him dependent on her. Then she reinforces the isolation every time he starts moving away from her by saying all these horrible things to him about how if he lets himself be controlled by someone (Dean) he's weak for doing so and that only by staying with her can he make himself strong and all the while she is undermining him.
If we focused less on the "drug addict" aspect of Sam's S4 storyline and more on the "he was the victim of domestic abuse" I think more people would be sympathetic to that arc.
(That being said, Sam absolutely killed human people in his pursuit of his blood addiction and he should have to take responsibility for those actions even though he was manipulated into starting down that path)
#OP it's very bold of you to assume that people in fandom and at large would be sympathetic to dude victims of intimate partner violence
Depressingly true. There is very little care or push back about the multiple occurrences of sexual assault against the main characters in general so I guess an abusive relationship is just something else that doesn't matter if a man is the victim.
The genre of deanposting that's about Dean not letting himself do smth "coz it's too girly". I get sad. He wants it too bad and he knows it. He's not the one denying himself that. Idk sigh lol.
one of the many things that piss me off in citizen fang is the implication that dean chose benny over sam and that's not even remotely what happened. dean deciding to trust his friend isn't choosing benny over sam. he gave his friend the benefit of the doubt instead of automatically siding with someone who holds nothing but vitriol for said friend.
sam is not automatically owed dean's trust, especially during a time when dean feels betrayed by him.
I sat behind the same girl in class all year and I was painfully jealous of her beautiful curly hair and I assumed she had just figured out some hair routine I didn't know, or had more time in the mornings than me, or was somehow more disciplined or just lucky. And then my friend talked to her one day and found out she gets 500$ perms and highlights 3 times a year. The answer was literally just money. The same friend found out that most of our classmates who I thought were just naturally smarter than me went to private highschools that cost 25k a year.
This is all a metaphor to say that there will be times when you feel like other people understand something that you don't, or have some ability that you don't, or are better than you in some way because they've accomplished something you can't. And it's going to turn out that they're just rich and they spent thousands of dollars to make that happen. You are not bad, you are not broken, the system is just fucked.
There is no such things as a prodigy. Nobody is naturally, intrinsically, the most of anything. The most smart, the most athletic, the most talented, the most beautiful, the most deserving. No. It really is just compounding advantages, all the way down. Before someone can be the best, they have to be lucky enough to even get their foot in the door.
They don't tell you that Mozart's father was a famous composer in his own right. They don't tell you Einstein grew up in a garage, surrounded by mechanics and engineers. They don't tell you that every single Olympian has been training for their sport since they were still a teenager. That every chess grandmaster learned the game before algebra. Compounding advantages. More time, more money, more training, more connections, more accommodation for extenuating circumstances, 999 times out of 1000, you have to already be in the right place to start the path to greatness, because exceptional individuals may not be born, but they're still molded from birth.
Trying to rewatch s4 and every woman is cast as either a rapist, a cowering damsel, or a lecherous villain who lures men into committing violence against women
if bela was a man the fandom wouldn't hate her and i know this bc the fandom loves crowley. works with sam and dean when convenient but only for selfish reasons. catty remarks and insults. wants to fuck dean.
this ratio on an incredible piece of fanart is crazy. this is not fucking pinterest guys if you wanna see more of what fandom has to offer then you have to be willing to show others the beautiful rocks you find
And the thing is, shane would already be buzzing underneath his skin just because of the alcohol so every time Ilya touched him or looks at him it’s like it’s magnified and he can’t stop thinking about it. the first date jitters, the alcohol buzzes, how horny it makes him just having Ilya close…he’s also probably never had truly drunk sex with Ilya before either so he’s thinking about that too, how that’ll feel with the way he already feels like every touch is both far away and 100 fingers underneath his skin.
Yes yes yes yes he’s like wow my man is so hot and that’s my man??? My boy ??! He loves me I love him??? Wow. And he watches Ilya laugh or make a bitchy little face or tease Shane or open them two more beers and he’s just like wow 🥰 the whole time. Horny and happy and just in this bubble with his man. And yes yes yessss not having had drunk sex before !! And like he’s excited cause he feels good and loose he’s having so much fun with Ilya and he feels warm and wanting but not in a rush and he can only imagine he’ll feel more buzzy and good when Ilya is inside him. Like fucking wow. And the thing is like he knows he’s getting fucked through the mattress because of Ilya’s eyes- he always gets his look like he’s caught Shane in a trap. Yipee yipee yipeeee
Dean got to have a little Indiana Jones adventure with Cas, and honestly we deserved more of it:
They got to go after one of Lucifer’s crypts!
A callback to “we’re making it up as we go!”
It was located at the site of an old apple orchard that had gone missing after being wiped by a Great Flood
///
So many gems in this one:
Dean prayed to him. Cas heard him.
DEAN: You heard me, didn't you?
SAM: You prayed to him?
CASTIEL: Yes, I heard you. But that's not why I'm here. [CASTIEL sits down, sighs.] I've been hunting demons.
///
Bad cop!
Callback to Cas instinctually doing good cop/bad cop when he’s not “playing around” with human cases anymore, la Hunter Heroici:
WENDY RICE: I thought angels were supposed to be the good cops. [CASTIEL impales her other hand.] Aah! [She screams, the wound sparking.] Wait! Stop! Stop!! We have a hostage! [CASTIEL wrenches the blade out of her hand, she's panting and gasping from the pain of the angel blade.]
///
A crypt!
The crypt is beneath an abandoned building, just like the bunker is beneath an old station.
SAM: Here goes. [SAM highlights a section of the street map on the computer, superimposes it onto a satellite view of the corresponding area.] All right. According to this, the crypt has to be below an abandoned building.
…
MEG: So, this is it. Basement?
DEAN: All right, Cas and I will head in and get our Indiana Jones on. Sam, you stay outside with Meg.
///
Cas power!
Cas cracks a friggin wall!
CASTIEL: I don't know. Wait. [They're walking through a darkened corridor when CASTIEL stops, feels the cement wall.] There's a draft. There's something behind there. Stand back. [Hand against the wall, energy flows through his hand, the wall cracks.]
///
The tablet!
Dean’s plea for honesty:
CAS: I can't let you take that, Dean.
DEAN: Just tell me how you got out of Purgatory. Be honest with me -- for the first time since you've been back -- [DEAN nods towards the stone he's still holding] and this is yours. [CASTIEL's blade drops into his hand.]
///
Thunder, lightning
Cas’s powers, untamed, are thunderous and lightning-ey. (Balthazar’s “is that you?” hinted at this once.)
CASTIEL attacks, DEAN blocks the blow with the stone.] Cas! [Flashes of light, thunder rumbles.]
…
[CASTIEL strikes again, DEAN again uses the stone to block the blow. Thunder rumbles.]
…
DEAN: Cas! [DEAN puts his hand on CASTIEL's shoulder. CASTIEL backhands DEAN who is thrown into a wall and falls to the floor.]
///
I love you!
The first scripted I love you! Cas looks to Dean, as if hearing him for the first time. They’re chased by Heaven, pushed to an abandoned warehouse, a basement, a crypt. (Symbolically, they should both be dead…and yet here they are, trying to connect and understand one another despite their different povs and their work and family obligations… Cas’s loyalty is devoted to Heaven; Dean’s to Hunting).
This truly is the mated scene to the 15x18 one: chased by death, pushed below an abandoned power station, the bunker, the dungeon. (Symbolically, losing each other is torture.)

And the song speaks to so much about Dean’s and Cas’s pain, really:

See, here's the thing for me. It's the juxtaposition of Dean's prayer: "you HEARD me, didn't you?" with the script. Cas looks at Dean, as if hearing him for the first time.
The way they played with I prayed to you every night, and I you HEARD me didn't you, and Cas hearing him for the first time will always get me more than the actual words. It's the persistence of them.
She's why I'm in Kansas. I sneak into the hospital whenever I can, and I just ... I read to her. She used to read me to sleep at night when I was a kid. She'd read me The Hobbit. She's the reason I love the stuff I love.
