something that has always bothered me about s1 is that sam got absolutely no sympathy for what happened to jess. his whole life went up in flames and he was so brokenhearted yet dean and john were just… so painfully casual about it.
john went through the same damn thing!! that’s why the boys are hunters!!
but, sam losing jess was SO glossed over despite the fact it directly impacted his life for the entire show. nuts.

The Devil is depicted as a monstrous creature with fur, claws, horns, and what appear to be bat-like wings at his side. The son appears to be resisting with his mouth open and one of his legs kicking up.
ID (5): An image with the typed-out version of a caption to describe the previous drawing. It's not the same as the one on the paper in the screenshot, but it's what I could find online. It reads: A child being taken away from his parents by the Devil, with whom they had made a pact.

ID (6): Sam Winchester in the same setting as the first image, now facing the viewer as he looks at another part of John's wall. Dean is in the background with his back to the camera. Sam's expression can be seen as contemplative and maybe curious.
ID (7): A close up shot of John's wall that shows two sections labeled by ripped pieces of paper.
One section is called 'Devils + Demons' and a drawn rendition of the Devil can be seen, in what appears to be some kind of thick pen or sharpie. He looks monstrous, much like the Devil depicted in the previous drawing.
The other section is called 'Sirens, Witches, the possessed.' Under the label are various papers with text and drawings that, presumably, depict sirens, witches, and possessed entities.
Both sections have writing directly on the wall that cannot be made out. Something is written in black on the 'Devils + Demons' side. There is something written in white on the 'Sirens, Witches, the possessed.' side and what appears to be a circle or curved line, possibly connecting one paper to another.
ID (8): An image with a typed-out quote from an online article. It reads: Monsters in gothic literature aren't just there to scare us. Often, they represent societal fears, individual anxieties, or repressed desires. They're a physical manifestation of the things we're afraid to face or admit.
The last sentence is highlighted in yellow.
say what you will about jensen ackles but in 2005 he made the active decision to pitch dean’s voice lower not because he felt like dean’s voice was naturally low but because JDM’s voice was low and he thought dean would try to talk like his dad

but for real again dean-and-john's little world. like it IS so wild that john didn't tell sam, his child whom he inarguably loves very much & whom he holds in some esteem, hey I think the forces of darkness are out to corrupt you so perhaps be on red alert for that. he just told dean to you in my will I leave the unilateral judgment of sam's moral state & continued right to life. if you think he's fine then great but if not I need you to murder him in cold blood. love you both bye. literally son and heir vs baby girl who is so sweet and smart but stands to allow evil into the family by making a bad marriage so can't be trusted.
actually even funnier because john didn't frame it as sam maintaining a steady state of fine. dean needed to save him. he said I know we're a family of serial killers and sam has historically been the least serial killing-prone of us & is currently like fine but I need you to take drastic action and push him to new heights of purity. you have got to lock that shit down or who knows what extremely vague theoretical filth and degradation he might introduce into the family at some future point.
