The idea that denim on denim is a fashion crime exists only because it looks working class and the worst thing you can do in a capitalist society is look like you perform manual labour.
Also part of the rebellion of punk was looking unashamedly poor. In the 60s and 70s calling someone “tidy” or “neatly dressed” was a genuine compliment. Untidiness defined the counter cultures of this time and looking clean cut was considered essential for mainstream beauty. So in the 70s and 80s when punks started looking sloppy, looking poor, wearing old battered clothes that were ripped and held together with patches and safety pins, this was rebellion against the middle/upper class ideal that everyone must emulate the tidiness of wealth.
What is considered “good fashion” is always defined as what looks wealthy. Short dresses and plastic heels and jackets that aren’t designed to close are luxurious, impractical, and flashy. Breezy collared shirts, crossbody bags, and slides are good for lounging by your pool, not for working. The fashion industry sells luxury so its important to look out for what it bags on. When the fashion industry decides that something looks ugly we should all ask “why?” Because there’s a high likelihood it simply looks poor.
You know what? This actually isn’t funny at all because this really does happen. Baby boomers can’t afford to retire; that’s a big part of why millennials can’t find jobs in their fields. And if they lose their jobs (which can mean a variety of things, including their companies finding an excuse to fire them so they don’t have to pay anything for their retirement, which happened to my uncle and 5 people he worked with over one year), they aren’t as desirable because they’re retirement-age. The world has changed a lot since they got jobs they thought were supposed to be secure, and now their old strategies that used to work for finding a job don’t work anymore and they don’t know what does work. So a lot are desperate; I recently talked to a woman who had to be in at least her mid-60s who was begging on a street corner because she was replaced by a younger person and lost her job of 18 years, and it’s not the first time I’ve heard a story like that. A lot of people who were never rich to begin with lost a lot in the 2008 financial crisis and never fully recovered. Baby boomers didn’t all just magically become financially secure as they got older.
This generation war bullshit is 100% manufactured to keep our anger misdirected. It’s not baby boomers screwing over millennials. It’s rich capitalists of every living generation screwing over baby boomers, their parents, gen x-ers, millennials, and gen z-ers all at once and all in different ways. And if we collectively realize that we’re not enemies and that we actually have a common cause with common enemies, it’ll be really bad for the people doing this to us, which is why they’re pushing the generation war thing so hard.
Um no wtf. Some people have pre-existing conditions that make it difficult to breathe with a mask on. E.g. anxiety, asthma, COPD. Mind your own business.
Actually I have anxiety, claustrophobia, sensory issues, & severe asthma, yet I still wear at least one if not two masks in public.
“mind your own business,” it becomes my business if it’s possibly harmful to me or the people around me
Yes, some people have pre-existing conditions that can make wearing masks difficult, the solution is going out in public as little as possible or finding alternative face coverings. (I’m sure there’s more safe solutions out there that other people have figured out)
I have no solutions for an alternative face covering that would work for someone w/copd, but someone with copd probably wouldn’t want to be in public rn b/c they’re very high risk?!? (Please someone correct me if I’m wrong on any of this I do not have copd)
Also asthmatics and other high risk people should wear masks to protect ourselves if we can? Having a few asthma attacks or panic attacks is so much better than me or someone else dying from covid19.
Stop using my conditions and disabilities as an excuse for pushing harmful ideology.
m8 i don’t give a shit why you aren’t wearing a mask/face shield in public. “why” doesn’t matter when your impact is spreading a deadly disease. “mind your business” it becomes my business when you might give me a deadly disease. good alternative to a mask: face shield (piece of thin, flexible plastic in front of your face, works well to protect your eyes and face and to protect others from droplets from your nose and mouth. most clever iteration i have seen is the one that clips to a pair of glasses.). works well for COPD folks because it’s not directly over nose and mouth, but it’s still a facial covering that’s protective. i personally hate the feeling of a mask on my face and i have asthma. however, i’m pretty sure i’d hate a ventilator more, and i’m really sure i’d hate myself if i ended up killing someone because i couldn’t be bothered to wear a mask in public. so i always wear a mask in public, without exception, for however long i need to be out for. i don’t know how to explain to you that you should give a shit about your neighbors, and that right now, caring for others means wearing a fucking face covering in public. if you are not wearing a face covering of some kind in public, be it a mask and/or a face shield, i will be loudly judging you and calling you a plague vector. because that’s what you are.
Friendly reminder bc we are one week away!!!
good animation, terrible everything else
I can't stop fucking thinking about this video

Mass incarceration has always been a tool for white supremacy and maintaining political control.
Same thing for anyone still fighting against decriminalizing marijuana.
It’s the same group people who are pushing these laws.
Prison gerrymandering has always about systemic structural racism.
The GI Rights Hotline provides accurate, helpful counseling and information on military discharges, AWOL and UA, and GI Rights:Why should I
I called this hotline TODAY, about an hour ago. The person I spoke to was VERY HELPFUL. There are MANY OPTIONS at your disposal for resisting orders, even if they try to tell you they are lawful!
If you are activated, CONTACT JAG IMMEDIATELY. They may have you refuse the orders anyway but at least you have their legal counsel.
Guardsmen, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. PAY ATTENTION.
I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed …
Oath of a United States Soldier……
I do not follow orders that CLEARLY violate the constitution. Suck my dick.
As someone who has actually served and knows what the fuck she’s talking about, unlike people who wanna parrot an oath they clearly know fuck-all about, it is also pretty fucking clearly stated in the Uniformed Code of Military Justice and the Manual for Courts Martial that being ordered to mobilize against *and potentially kill* (because, brutal and nasty truth, that’s exactly what 45 is looking for) their own unarmed countrymen is an example of an unlawful order.
It is why James Miller handed his resignation to Defense Secretary Mark Esper, and why other military leaders like General Mattis have strongly condemned 45′s responses.
Do NOT throw around that oath like it somehow locks soldiers in to doing everything they are told. It shows your ignorance and lack of reading comprehension, not to mention the full set of circumstances under which soldiers live.
No idea if anyone who follows me currently serves and is worried about being deployed in this manner, but if you are: PLEASE remember this. Keep the above information handy and reach out at least for questions on what you can do. Especially if your economic situation is tenuous and a dishonorable discharge can keep you from accessing some benefits you’re owed as a veteran. You don’t have to feel like you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place for trying to do the right thing.
is is this supposed to sound *bad*?
It was hard to read in the screenshot so I found it and blew it up:
The government just got even more power to spy on your internet habits as millions remain quarantined at home.
Excuse me while I google “the FBI can eat my whole ass” 50 times per day.
Track Me Not is a Firefox add-on (and Chrome extension, but please just uninstall Chrome) that hides your activity in a cloud of noise by googling random phrases. You can modify which search engines it uses, how often it makes searches, and even give it a blacklist of terms to not use in searches.
Thanks I added the fuck out of that.
Okay this is absolutely terrible BUT there is one way you can stop. the bill has gone back to the house and nancy pelosi, head of the house, can put back and support the Wyden/Daines amendment that prevents the Trump admin from spying on your Internet activity without a warrant. but YOU HAVE TO CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND TELL THEM TO SUPPORT THE WYDEN/DAINES AMENDMENT .
and when you’re done with that call Nancy Pelosi’s office (202) 930-8115 and tell her to support the amendment. it literally only takes five minutes out of your day. literally get on the phone rn and call.

There is a whole bunch of billionaires that are throwing fits at the prospect of not having record breaking profits this year, and they are throwing millions of dollars into dangerous schemes to convince the people of the US of a fantasy that is terrifying and horrifying.
And then they say it’s WHO that is falsifying numbers for making it look worse.
With regressives, fascists, and authoritarians it is always projection. Projection is the most reliable tool they have for deflecting attention for their wrong doing.

Hot take: on a scale of nerd vs jock, LARPing is a more jockish activity then fantasy football.
LARPing: people going outside and being physically active, requires working as a team with people
Fantasy Football: poindexters on the computer, playing with stats
