i miss when summers were normal and not literal hell

there was a post going around about you need to respect the us south ecause so much culture comes from it. and i agree. i would probably really enjoy living there too if it wasn't so hot. i don't even live in the south and it's still too hot. oh by the way heat index is 100 and it's smoky. even if you wanted to open a window to cool off the low is barely going to dip below 80. oh but don't open a window because the aqi is over 150.

#can someone please do something about climate change?#it's so obvious that we've hit the tipping point because every summer is just like this now #and the only way out involves drastic measures #of course the disproportionate production of pollution helps no one #and even if they put in measures for gen pop the worst offenders would continue #the real litmus test is going to be when it impacts the food supply #of course it is already impacting agriculture #but when the supply is lower than demand #already you have late freezes taking out a whole crop #not to mention what will happen with all this heat #or how the deregulation is allowing for parasites to go undetected for too long #and when you think about the droughts caused by certain agriculture projects and how they impact the rest of the climate #disrupting the environment causing drought and prime conditions for forest fires #what's worse is that the rich will be able to move and will have no incentive to stop #there are 67 days left of summer by my count #it's just unbearable

Pluribus, intentionally or not, is the most post-2020-2023/COVID media I’ve seen since living through those years.

Something terrible starts to happen all around you, all over the world. So many people are infected so fast, and now suddenly the person you love most is infected, and she’s in distress, so you rush to get her help but not a single expert or authority figure around you has the capacity to tell you what to do. Your wife dies, right in front of you, and there are so many bodies everywhere that you’re seeing them on the street. You stay in your house because you have to hope your house is safe, but 800 million people just died and even if you don’t know that exact number just yet you can extrapolate from all the horror you’ve just witnessed in your own city.

And then, the next morning, it’s a bright sunny day and everyone (who lived) wakes up and tells you it’s over, we did it, so sorry for your loss. Yup, everything is okay, we lost a couple, but we’re good now. Would you like to go back to normal?

Even the other ‘unaffected’ people in the world look at you like you’re insane when you bring up how bad the situation was. Well, MY family is intact and I want to be happy, so let’s make peace with the world as it is. We just want to be happy again, and, look, everyone is ready to pretend with you.
