pluribus... i have so many thoughts

#such an enjoyable show #it's like if the good place was made for adults #no offense to the good place

if nobody else has me, i know nicholas christopher does.... understanding the value of a chess x aida crossover in this day and age

#there are actually quite a few people who have performed in both actually #for two shows that prior to this year were unfortunately deeper cuts #not to mention tim rice

personally i don't think songs from jukebox musicals have a place at miscast

#why? because they could be performed in any context #go to 80s night at 54 below #this is not the place for that #you could go down a slippery slope with this line of thought #in that the gender of the character is sometimes not relevant to the song performed at miscast #at the same time there are far fewer opportunities to take musical theatre songs out of context as opposed to pop songs #caveat to all of this being i also don't think jukebox musicals have a place in the theatrical canon #i don't think they have a place at the tony awards etc #this is also because i am a bit of an originalist when it comes to this stuff #l generally don't prefer covers of songs #and your revival version has to really move me for me to want to listen to it #songs for a new world kilgore and pfeiffer do this well #and the same generally applies to pop covers as well #and it actually really grinds my gears when people think certain songs are by the cover artist #like mr tambourine man is by bob dylan not the byrds #again certain covers can move me [especially if the original artist is not a great vocalist]#and i realise the irony in using bob dylan in the previous example #i am all for new takes on old shows like through a different lens or what have you

#the only small piece of hope i have is that there was a case in delaware in 2018 that was successfully cointained even with a lot of travel #but that was when most people had healthy immune systems.#and one person is a lot easier to trace than 200 something
