this beautiful young girl is salwa. salwa is an emirati girl who sadly passed away from suicide after suffering years of abuse from her family and forced electroconvulsion therapy from psychiatric hospitals to “remove suicidal thoughts”. on her blog, you’ll find so many entries and records of the abuse she faced & her deepest thoughts. she was in so much unbelievable pain, and nobody helped her.

salwa, i’m so so sorry life was so cruel to you. i cant stop crying. i didn’t know you, but going through your page, i could tell you were meant for so much greater but you were confined without any space to grow. even then, you pushed against the tides & blossomed into an extraordinary woman. i’m so sorry. i don’t know what else to say, but i truly believe we owe it to salwa to at least share her story and catapult a change in our communities in her name. please. this cant ever happen again.
