whilst im on the topic of wicked for good, another thing that frustrated me about the general public not seeing a romantic connection between elphaba and glinda is that the film explicitly uses familiar literary tropes between the two.

elphaba visits glinda the night before her wedding. she literally breaks her window to get glinda's attention. it's the classic 'throwing pebbles at your lover's window' that you see used countless times across fiction. then there's the whole fact that elphaba meets glinda on her BALCONY...very romeo and juliet coded.

elphaba crashes glinda's wedding. glinda is more hurt at the assumption that elphaba has left her behind once more than the prospect of fiyero leaving her at the altar.

glinda being the literal 'knight in shining armour' when she grabs elphaba's boots !!! and disguises herself and rides on horseback to try to save elphaba!! it's literally the trope also used in shrek!!

everything about them has been romantic because they're so inexplicably connected to one another. they cannot exist without each other. they're romeo and juliet except WORSE because glinda and elphaba couldn't even die beside each other. glinda watched her best friend. the love of her life. the only person she's ever loved kill herself and she had to keep on living. we need a word stronger than doomed.

tldr: gelphie are romantic and use common tropes to show us exactly that.

Thinking about when KAJ was on air with NRJ Sweden and they went over misheard lyrics to their songs sent in by their listeners.

Someone had misheard the first lyrics to Bara Bada Bastu ("Klockon slår, nu är det dags, all bekymmer försvinner strax" / "The clock strikes, now it's time, all our worries will disappear soon") and they misheard it as:

"Klockon slår, nu är det dags, Albert Kindberg försvinner strax" , or "The clock strikes, now it's time, Albert Kindberg will disappear soon"

like the three of them have some hit out for a random dude named Albert Kindberg and need to get him GONE
