The longer he travelled, the more his heart sank. It had been far too long since he’d seen anything familiar, much less another traveller or village. Stories of strange monster sightings had taken him into Windor’s depths to investigate but something seemed amiss, not only were there no such monsters to be seen, but the air felt different; heavy in a way he could not wholly explain.
When the tree line finally broke he emerged upon what seemed to be some manner of ruins. Stone and rubble were strewn across the ground and the lack of growth about them suggested the destruction fairly recent. Yet the most peculiar sight of all was what appeared to be a small sapling at the centre of it all. At least, that was the most peculiar until he stepped into the opening proper.
The man standing there looked as though he’d taken a tumble through the bush, twigs tangled about his frame, and leaves poked through long blond hair. Richard cannot help but blink a moment before speaking.
“Forgive me, but are you alright? You look as though you’ve taken a bit of a tumble.” Richard asked, a familiar warm smile upon his face. “It’s been quite some time since I’ve come upon anyone else, and I cannot say for certainty where this is. Would you happen to know?”
Mithos was briefly startled by the voice of another person, too lost in his own thoughts to have sensed the presence of this other man’s mana at first. A human at that, he sighed to himself.
“So it would seem.” He took another glance at his own arms. It seemed as if the leaves and branches were attached to his very being. How he wished that he had his Cruxis Crystal so he could change his form at will again.
“I’m fine,” Mithos finally answered, there was no sense in being impolite since he was at a disadvantage. Unfortunately, he was not even sure at how to answer the man’s question. It was definitely Aselia, for sure, but where exactly was beyond him.
Even if the worlds were now unified, it had been four thousand plus years. It was not the same planet that he had trekked across to end the Kharlan War. And after it had been split, Mithos had not spent much time on the surface, sequestering himself on Derris Kharlan. The only exception had been when he had infiltrated Lloyd’s group.
“Aselia, for certain. But where specifically, I cannot pinpoint. I had been away for so long that I barely recognize the landscape.” He answered honestly. Though he wondered, what kind of traveler would be walking around with no clue of where he was at. “I suppose that means you are not a local then.”
It would probably be for the best if he made his way towards civilization so that he could get his bearings.
