Another Diamond Mirabel AU question? Must be a day ending with a "Y"!
How does Mirabel feel about being the new Prima donna? I can’t imagine she ever wanted the title and she’s already overworked to heck and back. The villagers are impressed by her, sure, but you also said they're demanding. How's our girl fairing with all that?
Thanks so much for all the tidbits about this AU! I think it's really neat.
At first, she adored the attention. She's finally getting to help and prove her worth to the miracle. But as the weeks turned into months, everything started to pile on mentally.
There's always someone wanting something. Slippers, tiara, bracelet, earrings, necklaces, rings, OH MY!
She hates that she now has to live up to the Prima donna role. She's nothing like Isabela, but the etiquette lessons Alma forces her to endure are quite...something.
It's the expectation to be perfect all the time that really gets her. At first, she was allowed to slouch, to scowl, to allow herself to emote. That's all gone.
In her eyes, prim and proper is too Isabela. But, she can't say no to abuela, so...something else she has to force herself to smile through.
She's also finding herself smiling a lot more now. At first, her forced smiles were for her family to know she was fine. Same for the villagers who even remotely attempted to show her concern. It's still like that, but now a gift is attached. The one thing she wanted is now stressing her tf out.
Mira is kinda goin' through mild psychological turmoil. Because on one hand, she's tired and really tired of the demanding villagers; on the other, she berates herself for being tired and forces herself to be grateful.
She thought that if everyone in the village had something sparkly attached to them, the commissions would die down. That she would eventually get a break. NOPE! There's always someone who wants a crystal vase, a diamond dining room SET, a bedroom SET! Ten pairs of diamond slippers, a crystal vanity, something!
"Greedy good-for-nothing- NO! I'm happy to work, I'm happy, happy, happy! There's nothing wrong! You finally have a chance, Mirabel Madrigal...don't screw it up..."
She has come upon a particular thought...
If she's going through this much work...is the family going through it too?
