The first translation of „Animal Farm: A Fairy Story" (a famous book by George Orwell) was in Ukrainian language. The publication was intended for Ukrainians who were in the occupation zone of the US army. Orwell published it at his own expense and wrote a preface to it specifically for Ukrainians.

The basis of this documentary is the telephone conversations of Russian soldiers intercepted by the Ukrainian special services, who tell their loved ones about the murders, rapes, tortures and robberies of Ukrainian civilians, and mainly female voices "from home" who support them and ask them to do even more brutal actions. Not gonna lie, my morale is at the lowest point it's been since the beginning of the invasion. Russians are successfully occupying more and more territories and shell frontline regions every day. People are dying, our culture and herritage is destroyed. International aid dwindled significantly because of american bullshit. Mobilization law has been signed and there is a chance that my family members get conscripted soon. Don't even get me started on internal political problems. A bunch of articles in foreign media talking about our defeat and "peace talks" (what a joke).

It feels like there were no at least moderately good news in a while. On top of that, the feeling that we are screaming into the void is stronger than ever. I'm happy when I see a foreigner online supporting us and spreading the word, because it gets rarer. Ukrainians feel like none of what's happening gets outside our info bubble. Most likely no one but Ukrainians will see this post either. Honestly don't know what to make of all of this.

Yep and yeah. Russia also tried to send a girl who supported the occupation of Crimea to the Eurovision 2017 held in Ukraine - right next year after Jamala won the contest with the song 1944 about the deportation of Crimean Tatars.

And we were getting so much shit for not allowing that girl entry into Ukraine because she broke the law.

So yeah, Eurovision is a big bag of dicks, I'm certainly not telling anyone to watch, much more to support Israel entry this year. But god, these "Eurovision banned russia immediately" when it's not only not the case, it shows how little people know or care about Ukraine unless it's for making it a rhetorical device.

Please, when you see something written in Cyrillic, don't assume right away that it's russian. Russian is not the only language that uses Cyrillic. There are also Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Serbian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Mongolian.

It's a sensitive topic especially for us Ukrainians because russian language is a weapon. It's a colonial language, it's presented like one and only true slavic language, it erases and replaces other languages. Belarusian is literally on the verge of extinction because of russian. Ukrainian has been banned 134 times throughout history, it is still called a "village language", a dialect of russian. Russian colonialism is literally the reason why there are so many russian speaking people in Ukraine (I was one of them btw). Ukrainian is banned on russian occupied territories and people are getting in trouble or even killed for using it there, Ukrainian POWs in russian captivity are getting brutally beaten for speaking Ukrainian.

Like okay, I can get why there's this confusion, so here's a clue to understand that the language you're looking at definitely is not russian — the letter і. If you see ї (like i but with two dots) it's 100% Ukrainian. If you see j it's Serbian. Russian alphabet also doesn't have such letters as Ђ, Љ, Њ, Ў, Џ (dont confuse with Ц ). Yes, it's not always gonna be easy to detect that the language in front of you is not russian, but when you have trouble with it just ask or run it through any translation app and it'll probably tell you the language.
