'Abyss' 

This is my submission for the International Fanbook for Mochizuki-sensei. I thought I won’t finish it on time, but I did it! And I’m quite proud with the result. I also send my Xerxes Break’s fanart and a sweet message for her ♡. I’m so excited about the fanbook project, I can’t wait for November 15th to come Ｏ(≧∇≦)Ｏ

I think Lacie has to be one of the PH muses I miss the most to be honest, but coming back would be a lot of effort between redoing the theme and getting icons again and I dunno. I want to but ugh.

And this blog's on hiatus too, Chale and I agreed that moving Kevin and Lacie over to Skype semi-permanently would be in both our best interests since we've both been really busy as of late and my interest in remaining in the community here is waning. So yeah.

Now, don’t misunderstand something. Lacie and Kevin were married, and he enjoyed a good kiss as much as anyone else. It was just that he wasn’t so much one for doing these sorts of things in public. To be honest, he found it embarrassing. Not Lacie, or kissing her itself, but what if someone caught them back there? It’s not like they would care, and they weren’t doing anything but exchanging a simple kiss expected of two married people. It wasn’t inappropriate or anything, but wouldn’t it still be awkward? He didn’t want to be caught in such a situation. How humiliating. 

He was, if nothing else, a rather awkward person. 

Returning her kiss for a brief moment—to keep her happy and because he also liked kissing her—it wasn’t long before he was pulling away, trying not to be so obvious about it. Didn’t want to put her in a sour mood, and he just really didn’t want to be caught. 

"Lacie…there are people around here, you know." Bad argument, it’s not as though she cared about those things. 

And his typical discomfort for any public displays of affection was exactly why she tugged him off to a currently unoccupied aisle and hid them behind the end of a bookcase: to prevent exactly what he was afraid of happening. So far no one had made any movement closer towards them, so they were still plenty safe. He might have tried pulling away, but she wasn't ready to give in just yet, her arms stayed securely around his neck but at least her hold did slacken some.

"And there's no one that close to us Kevin, that's why I pulled you into the corner. You're worrying too much~"

Lacie knew he liked kissing as much as she did, hence why she was still trying to coerce him into it for a few more moments before she did let up and behave. There was plenty of time later that evening to kiss and touch and play all they wanted, but the birthday girl still wanted a little one right now. So a few more little pecks on the lips was what Kevin got, seeing if she could get him to relax at all.

Kevin let her take his hand, his own fingers entwining with hers. He wasn’t so much for public displays of affection or anything, but hand holding wasn’t all that bad. Besides, it was kind of romantic, wasn’t it? He was off work anyway, so it’s not like it mattered. Plus, he was just having fun with her. It was his time with Lacie. Anyone else didn’t really matter. And she was cute so it was okay.

"Yeah, but reading by myself is awfully boring. I don’t enjoy it so much. I really only like it when you read to me, you know? I like listening to your voice. I’ll help you find your own though, and perhaps offer some suggestions. We gotta find some sort of cool action story, none of these romances girls are into these days. That’ll just put me to sleep."

By this point, the two were arriving at the shop, and Kevin held the door open for Lacie. It was a nice bookstore, the one they she usually went to, so he hoped she would find something she liked. That was the point, after all. 

In terms of public displays of affection, this was definitely the lesser of any other evils she could do. They'd been married for long enough now that everyone who knew either family involved with the marriage knew that Kevin and Lacie were together, so seeing such actions weren't exactly surprising either.

Lacie waited for them to be inside before she answered him, and she tugged him down around the corner of one of the bookshelves so she was able to wrap her arms around his neck and pull her husband close.

"You're cute when you sleep though, maybe I ought to read you one of those so I get to watch you nap."

No one was around them, which is why Lacie pulled Kevin down to where she did in the front corner of the bookstore hidden by the side of two shelves. She could smile and give her husband a kiss in semi-privacy before they began looking for books.

"Well I don’t really have any plans, at least not for lunch. I was just thinking we could have a picnic somewhere when you got hungry." Not that he was about to spoil anything, and he did have plans, but this afternoon was a little more open for whatever it was that Lacie wanted to do. There was no point in figuring out every detail, and even when he said ‘plans,’ he didn’t really mean anything structured or whatever. In any case, a picnic was hardly telling her anything at all. 

"And I don’t think I’ll be picking out anything for myself. This is your birthday, I’m supposed to be treating you, remember? And I only really like reading when I get to listen to you read it to me. Which isn’t really reading, but you know. Same thing."

He was enjoying himself. Nice morning for sure, and although it was a little selfish, he liked the excuse to have some time off. It was relaxing, and being able to spent time with Lacie and get her to smile a little made him extra happy. 

"Picnic sounds good, the weather's nice enough for it."

That really did to be honest. She didn't have a clue exactly where they'd sit down to have said picnic, but Lacie was under the assumption Kevin had a plan in place for that; he wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.

"And you could still pick out a book or two for yourself, you don't have to wait to read when it's with me. And I can pick out a book for myself while you pick out one for yourself."

She was still following him at this point, and a moment later Lacie slipped her arm out from holding his and took his hand instead, winding her fingers through his and squeezing gently enough that he'd still notice. Time alone with him like this was nice, Lacie was certainly already enjoying the freedom they had for today.
