hey sorry if this isn't ok, but you seem to have so many reference books and expanded canon books and the like so maybe you might know? do we know if canon has said how often leia visited poe's family when he was a kid or how well he got along with ben when they were little?
Hi Anon, itās more than ok for you to ask me questions like this!
Canon does indeed have an answer to this question, and the answer is that the very first time Poe everĀ met Leia was wasĀ when he was first recruited to leave the New Republic Navy and join the Resistance (about one year before the events of The Force Awakens).
Here is Poe and Leiaās first meeting, as described in the bookĀ Before the Awakening:
Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka (2015)
The Story Group, knowing how important the first ever meeting between Poe and Leia is, adapted Poeās segment of this book into a childrenās picture book. That means we have actual illustrations of Poe and Leiaās first meeting! How exciting is that!

This is also quickly summarized in the visual dictionaries.

When it comes to what Poe was told when he was growing up, we know his parents didnāt talk about their time fighting with the Alliance all that much.

Thatās one of the things that caused Poe to fall in love with the Resistance btw. After he joined he discovered there were a lot of veterans of the Galactic Civil War around, and many of them knew his parents.

There were also people in the Resistance Poe grew up with, such as A-Wing pilot L'ulo L'ampar. L'uloĀ had been his motherās squadmate during the Rebellion, and then flew with Black Squadron in the Resistance.Ā

According to the eulogy he gave at L'uloās funeral, Poe had grown up considering Lāulo to be his uncle.

I bring this up mainly because it reminds us that as the Visual Dictionaries put it āPoe Demeron grows up hearing the legends of starfighter jockeys of old, having been raised by veterans of the Rebel Alliance.ā Even if neither Shara nor Kes talked very much about their time with the Rebellion, there were other veterans around Poe all through his youth, including Lāulo.Ā
During that same funeral, Poe calls Leia an old friend of his family.

Feel free to interpret that as you wish. Personally I see it as Poe making it clear he bares Leia no ill will after this man who was his uncle gave his life to obtain a much needed fuel shipment for the Resistance.
Even though he didnāt meet her until a year before TFA, Poe seems to have always idolized Leia (she was a major historical figure after all).Ā

Interestingly, the condolence letter she wrote his family after Shara died was in the book Star Wars: Poe Dameron Flight Log by Michael Kogge, suggesting that Poe kept it all those years later (Poe also had a letter Han wrote as Kesā direct superior officer, recommending Kes for an honorable discharge as well as a special compensation package for exemplary service).Ā

The fact Poe kept both of these letters is kinda funny when you consider that six years before her death, Shara Bey specifically asked Leia not to write a letter to her family after she died.

Six years later Shara died, and Leia wrote a condolence letter to her widowed husband and eight year old son. In that letter, Leia gave a detailed description of the one and only mission she and Shara went on together. It feels pretty clear to me from this letter that Leia did not know Shara outside of the events of Shattered Empire.

Shara died in 10 ABY, so Leia would have been 29 when she wrote this letter. I can only assume that means Poe is the one who stuck a photo of Leia in her fifties onto it.
It should also go without saying that like every single other person in the Resistance, up until Kylo Ren showed up on Crait without his helmet, Poe Dameron didnāt have even the slightest inkling of a clue that Kylo Ren could even possibly be Leia Organaās son.Ā
Poe would sometimes wonder about the grief heād see Leia display, but he had no way to figure out what was causing it.

I am trying to puzzle out why you specifically wanted to know if Poe knew Ben, so I can best help you here. I dunno if you were asking for fic reasons or just to know, but if you were planning to write a fic where knowing things about Ben before he became Kylo Ren is needed for the story, there is a member of Poeās unit (Black Squadron) who you could use for that purpose.
Temmin āSnapā Wexley, joined the New Republic Navy when he was sixteen years old. At age sixteen he was in a unit that answered directly to the then pregnant Leia Organa, and he spent quite a bit of time around her before Ben was born.
Here is an example of Snap interacting with Leia while she was pregnant with Ben:
Star Wars: Aftermath: Empireās End by Chuck Wendig (2017)
And here is a conversation Snap was present for about Ben, just a few weeks after he was born:
Star Wars: Aftermath: Empireās End by Chuck Wendig (2017)
While we do not know if Snap and Leia had much contact over the years, six years before The Force Awakens Snap was present for the very first meeting/founding of the Resistance. That said, despite having worked extensively with Snapās mother and having known and worked with him when he was a teen, Leia didnāt seem to remember Snap on that day, which suggests they had little to no contact in the 23 years between Benās birth and the founding of the Resistance.

Which is to say that since Snap is one of Poeās closest friends, you could, if you want to stick to canon (that is up to you), either have Snap be the one delivering whatever info about Ben you need, or have Poe say that Snap told him stories about Ben, if Poe knowing stuff about Ben Solo is needed in your story.
I mean, you know that these two talk to each other about everything and anything:
