Working on a vinyl project for the players that I run a D&D game for. I drew their chatacters fighting off some baddies. I drew this planning to use a vinyl cutter to make a print out that I'd put on the front of the wooden GM screen one of my players is making. I'm picking out the negative spaces now, and it's fun to see the drawing I made come together. I made some mistakes, this is the first time I've drawn something that was going to be cut out. I thought I'd try and get my game shelf in order, it was getting out of control. I've decided to do a culling, and I'm getting rid of the stuff we never play. Except FRAG I love that game and someday I'll find people to play it with again. I also somehow have 3 copies of uno... and we both hate uno. This show was kinda a bust. They didn't do any advertising, and there was very little traffic. .. So, I can't really judge if I failed or not. Getting ready for my first time having a table at an art show. I'm nervous as hell, this is the first time I've been face to face with people that might want to buy my art. I have a bunch of prints of my bird drawings, and I made some 4x6 cards that I'll do custom drawings on if people are interested. I decided to take the advice of some of the amazing people here on instagram that sent me some supportive and encouraging messages. I did some quick people studies, and had fun with them. I was putting too much pressure on myself to make things. This is supposed to be fun. .. I wasn't having fun. I'm not a full time pro. I get occasional jobs, but I'm not on the level of a lot of the people I follow and look up to here. So. I quit Inktober. I quit drawlloween. I'm just gonna draw stuff. I hit that wall hard at the beginning of the week. I don't know what the problem is, but I've got nothing left in the creative tank. I committed myself to doing a drawing every day back on July 1st. I made it 112 days to October 20th. I didn't draw yesterday. It felt like crap at the end of the night and I couldn't bring myself to pick up a pen. I didn't want to make something half-assed. I didn't know how far I'd make it on the daily drawings. .. I'd hoped to make a full year. I think I'm gong to take a break and recharge. .. I need to figure out what's going on and fix it. I'm banging my head against a wall of creative block today. .. it sucks. I used the app What To Draw to look for a prompt that might spark something, but I wasn't in love with anything. .. even though that app comes up with some great combinations. A little doodling gave me half an idea for some creepy twins, but I still didn't have a lot of steam behind it. What do you do when you're dealing with creative block? Let me know in the comments. Working on a special project this morning. I'll try to knock out a drawlloween prompt on my lunch break. I've been spending a lot of time sketching different types of plants and weeds, trying to figure out how to anthropamorphise them. .. and trying to not just copy Plants vs. Zombies. I've come up with a variety, and wanted to see how they looked together.
