Life is weird sometimes. Yesterday, I logged onto Steam so I could buy Sonic Adventure 1 because I remembered I'm an adult with adult money and time, and I've never played it all the way through before. I had my wallet beside me, but then I decided I'll wait until it goes on sale and play a free game instead.
While the game was loading, I took a walk to the store to get a soda and chips. I got my stuff and went to the counter only to discover I had forgotten my wallet on the table at home. I was a little embarrassed, but no big deal. My apartment wasn't too far from the store; I could grab my wallet and come back. But as I was walking out the door, the man that was standing behind me called out to me. He said he'd pay for my stuff. So I got a free soda and chips, yay!
Now, today, Sonic Adventure 1 is on sale. I could buy it, but it will probably be a while before I get around to playing it. This new gatcha game has me in a chokehold, lol.
Don't mind me. I'm just going to talk about my favorite Metal Sonic ships for a moment.
Sonic: Metonic, my otp. It's the perfect ship. Even the ship name is perfect. Metonic. Like a tonic. Sounds like something you eat, drink, or breathe to enhance your life if you can stomach the biting bitterness and accept that it may not produce the desired affects.
Anyway, Metonic is the best Metal ship because it is a deeply personal enemies to lovers ship that is catastrophically destructive for both parties, but it has the potential to defy destiny. Metal was created in order to mock, suppress, and ultimately destroy Sonic. Yet, they are not contrasts. They are reflections of each other. Whatever "negative" traits or flaws Metal has he has because Sonic has them. Sonic just chooses to do "good" because he can. Metal does not have that luxury. He must fulfill his purpose, which is to destroy Sonic.
Alas, no matter how hard they try Metal tries, can never win against Sonic because Sonic is the hero. He fails, gets repaired or upgraded, fights, fails again, and so the cycle continues. Sonic does his best to steer Metal onto the path of good, but Metal refuses time and time again because, as things are, he is incapable of change. Thus they are stuck in this vicious cycle of death and rebirth.
The only way to break this cycle is for Metal to reject his creator and his purpose. But it is not possible to do it alone. They have to completely trust one another despite their history. And Sonic has to come to terms with the parts of himself that contradict his hero persona and his freedom philosophy. In order for Metal to have freedom, a second chance at life, he will have to take away Eggman's freedom and possibly his life. In other words, Metal and Sonic have to deconstruct and reconstruct themselves in order to build a better life.
A happily ever after would be rather difficult to achieve, especially with Eggman alive, but if anyone could find a way to do it, it's Sonic.
Amy: It starts out innocent enough. Amy genuinely wants to help Metal because she has a compassionate heart. Also, she thinks she can ease Sonic's burden and convince Metal to change. She cannot change him, and she cannot gain Sonic's affection from trying to change Metal. Her relationship with Metal is as one sided as her relationship with Sonic only colder, harsher. This realization eventually brings frustration, and that frustration eventually causes her to snap. Instead of trying to change Metal for the better, she will end up changing herself for the worse. She will harden her heart and become cold and harsh.
Infinite: Coworkers with benefits is a bit of a stretch since Infinite doesn't see Metal as a coworker. He doesn't even see Metal as a person. He just sees him as another Eggman robot to use as he sees fit. Something to take the edge off. This one's toxic through and through.
Tails: Starts out a lot like Metamy. He initially tries to help Metal so he can help Sonic. The difference is Tails actually has the knowledge and resources to actually change Metal. He quickly abuses his power and changes Metal however it will benefit him. He just sees Metal as a version of Sonic he can control.
Silver: Silver is from the future. He knows what the fate of the Eggman Empire and by extension, Metal's fate, will be, so he tries to keep his distance. Eventually, he ends up catching feelings and starts up a relationship even though he knows it will end tragically.
Shadow: These two probably have the least toxic relationship out of these picks. Shadow knows what it's like to have your body and mind tampered with, so he empathizes with Metal. He helps Metal break free of Eggman's control. Neither are really good at feelings so they eventually go their separate ways. Through the years, they meet up and inform the other of everything they've been up to. They have a deep love for one another that they don't really understand, but they don't question it. They just let it be.
Eggman: This one is toxic and abusive through and through. Eggman has no love for Metal. He either sees him as a weapon to get rid of his nemesis, Sonic, or as an outlet for all the stress his nemesis causes. Metal has to obey Eggman no matter how lewd or degrading Eggman's demands are. What else can I say? Abusive creator x creation is just so delicious.
Omega: I just think it would be really funny if these two end up together.
Surge: Yep, she's a toxic girlfriend. There's no arguing with her. Whatever she says goes. She's got Metal whipped, or so she thinks. Maybe he recognizes she's a hurting soul, lashing out at the easiest target. Maybe together they can find a healthier way to live. Or perhaps Metal's just biding his time and will dump her as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.
and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.
I was going to take a break from writing after I finished A Golden Age, but then I got inspired to write an organic Metal Sonic fic with Metamy, Metonic, and Metal/Sonic/Infinite (I can't get enough of these three).
Amy helps Metal build a new life after an accident kills Eggman and turns Metal into a living, organic hedgehog. But things only get more complicated when he runs into Sonic and his boyfriend, Infinite, at the kinky lifestyle venue Amy leaves him at.

I finally finished my Infinite x Tails omegaverse fic!!! 🥳🎉
13 chapters, 2 different endings, 66,298 words. Never thought I'd write that much for this pair. Never thought I'd do multiple endings again either. Here's the link if you want to read:
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
anon in my inbox said fanfic writers who wrote about dark and taboo topics were not “real writers” because of what they wrote about.
reblog if you believe anon is wrong and writers are writers, no matter what they write about. no matter how they portray these taboo topics.
reblog if you believe art can be about topics that are controversial, taboo or outright disturbing, and artists who create controversial, taboo or outright disturbing art are as valid as artists who create art of conservative values.
This is probably the most evil I will ever write Infinite. I would eventually like to see Infinite eventually get a redemption arc, but he's definitely not getting one in A Golden Age, lol. He's evil, evil, evil, and he loves it.
