YES! It Is true that Octopi have three hearts! Two serve a different purpose then the main one!

The extra two are called 'branchial hearts'!!

They pump blood through their gills to get oxygen in them! The 'systemic heart' (aka the Main heart) does what any normal hearts does : pumps it in the body so the octopus can function!!

The reason Why they need this three—heart system is because it works better in cold, deep environments!! Especially since their blood is copper based instead of iron based like normal blood! 'Hemocyanin' blood stores oxygen better, which is perfect for whe you're in the deepest parts of the ocean!!

That's also why their blood is bluer then the sea itself!! Mixing oxygen with 'Hemocyanin' blood makes it blue!! 030

Many toons think an octopus has nine brains in their body, and while that WOULD be super cool— that is entirely untrue!!

Octopus actually have a decentralized nervous system!!

Basically, what that means is that all of their neurons go to their arms! Via a nervous system that ends in a small cluster called a 'ganglia'! Allowing them to think on their own without any feedback from the octopus' ACTUAL brain!! So ig you could say their arms are sorta sentient!!
