Un-spoilery review of “Into The Wild” :
I may be blinded by nostalgia, but this is overall a charming book for any young cat-lover. I recommend this for ages 10+; though I don't actually know much about kids so take that with a grain of salt.
The pacing is a bit poor in places but it has a satisfying enough arc, even without the rest of the series. You should read the rest of the series, though.
tldr; a good book for youngsters that like cats and/or adventure stories.
Is it worth getting the collector’s edition?
The pages are thicker than the standard warriors book, the gold embellishments are neat (though I'm still not a big fan of this cover art); the edge painted tabby pattern is an odd choice to me (why not gold?) but it looks alright. The twenty dollars that it is most places is about standard for a hardcover book of this size.
The added short story is not required to understand the main story, but it fleshes out some characters in a way that I like.
tldr; if you're a die-hard warriors fan or don't already own the first book and want to; probably.

The core of this book is really Ravenpaw. Tigerclaw’s relationship with and later turn against him is the most consistent conflict.
Meanwhile the Shadowclan threat is teased a few times but ramps up dramatically right at the end.
I suppose they coincide; mb that makes it feel like more.
I remember prologues being harder to read in warriors, but actually the first chapter or so is written in a more flowery, atmospheric language.
I wonder if Graypaw attacked Rusty to stop him getting too close to that fox
Like Thrushpelt and Leopardfoot who seems to have died between books
Why is his dream so ominous
(The ‘you look like a brand of fire in that sunlight’ line gave me chills but it's probably been drawn to death)
But really tho the line where Graystripe says “Not bad-looking either. Younger and a lot prettier than most…” about Spottedleaf just kinda shows the erins have been a bit weird about her since the beginning
Like it's not that weird for Graystripe the young teen to find the pretty nurse attractive but it is weird to put it in your cat book for children
And moons later he trained his warriors to climb trees
I don't know that this was intentional, but that this is disproven time and again later on and even is what defeats Tigerclaw is neat
Contrast this later when she goes crazy @ future me
The two moon time skip between ch5 and 6 is a lil jarring
Strange they keep teasing fox but never actually fight it
I still don't understand why Yellowfang’s first few lines are so strangely written
What kind of cat might Firepaw have become had he not befriended Yellowfang?
They have the word enemy so why? (I do like it tho. "The arch-cat of stench". lol)
Strange that they didn't add that in to her super edition. Or put the lore in elsewhere that she trained like Redtail’s Kits or something. Like they wrote this in why not figure what that means.
Frostfur and Runningwind were when she was Bluefur; Firepaw is the only apprentice she ever had as leader
It is interesting to see how the clan culture has influenced him
I wonder if he would still think this later on
Like Tigerclaw subtly not so subtly trying to get Ravenpaw killed is great writing if you're paying attention
Shout-out to that au of Tigerclaw being a surrogate father to Firepaw cuz I can definitely see that in their first interactions
He only really turns against him when Firepaw starts suspecting him of foul play
I was gonna draw the three friends comforting each other but then I got this song stuck in my head so I guess we're doing this instead
Strange (or noticeable?) that none of the kits in this book are named, but kits almost always have names in later books.
They're so important in this one too
Oh boy time to read a new short story-WAIt a darn secoND This is just ‘A Fear of Fire’ again?!
But actually they've fleshed it out and the writing's a bit better. I do think it's an improvement, but how dare they think I didn't print out all the online exclusive short stories and put them in a folder on my warriors shelf
They did change the title to “Tigerclaw’s Story”. (Which is a downgrade fyi.)
