Redwood Hills farm certainly lived up to its name this morning!

No wonder it felt cold out on the Mountain Red farm this morning! Fresh snow on the hills... Not that this bothered our lovely deer.

We are searching the paddocks at the moment for 'Buttons'.

When we find these cast off in the paddocks from the boys we know they are starting to growing their wonderful velvet again for us!!

This is Shika, one of our wonderful breeding stags. His name is Japanese for 'gentle deer'. Here he is showing you his buttons which will fall off when his antlers start to grow again in the next couple of months. Mountain Red Deer Velvet in the making!

These are our babies from last year that we have brought into the yards today to check to make sure they are all safe and well. We make sure that the sheds are darkened when they come in so they do not get frightened as when the lighting is low they are lovely and calm. Aren’t they amazing one year olds!! Just another day on the Redwood Hills farm....
