I’ll try and make this my only resident evil post. I’ve played these games since I was a kid so when I say a great majority of resident evil fans are spoiled vain assholes who act like not looking like a supermodel is a death sentence and that it makes you less of person because of it I mean it. I hope you all get a “ugly” main character soon. Male and female. This isn’t even touching the shipping wars and racism.

I have some thoughts on LimeJuice and Uta! First, I noticed that lime has a cute version of the red hair pirates Jolly Roger on his hat.

Do you think he used a cute jolly Roger on his hat so a two year old uta wouldn't be freaked out by looking at him with a realistic skull? Do you think he kept it after they had to leave her on elgia to remind himself of her? and now to honor her death? He had a good relationship with uta much like the rest of the red hair pirates.

He seemed to like doing little things for her. He helped make a beat for her a lot! we see examples of this twice. Once in film reds official sketch from oda where he’s making music for her song.

And again when she was three in the one piece heroines novel. He was making the beat for the crews song she was begging to hear so she could sleep.

So I don’t think it’s outta of the question he had a simple and cute version of their Jolly Roger for her considering he seems really in tune with uta and her needs. Maybe Lime is rather emotionally intelligent despite his tough exterior and attitude? I hope we get to see more of him soon because I can’t get enough of the red hair pirates lately!

People say they want complex female characters but can’t even handle uta

I can’t stop thinking about this scene. Beckman also just lost his daughter but sees that shanks is being self destructive and represses his own grief to try and patch things up between him and Luffy. As soon as Luffy is done yelling at shanks and runs off crying beck looks to him concerned.

I think he’s worried about shanks letting Luffy hate him. He knows he’s making a mistake. And he knows shanks feels he deserves to be hated. The next day He tries to get Luffy to forgive and understand shanks.

The rest of the crew understandably don’t put up with Luffy so they ignore him and become busy drinking their sorrows away.

But beck puts on a smile for for the crew. For luffy. For shanks.

The day after luffy is beat by the bandits and beckman helps him he carefully watches Luffy and shanks talk to see if they make up. He even smiles once they come to an understanding.

Beckman is incredibly intelligent and caring. He obviously knew it was a possibility shanks would ruin his relationship with Luffy due to grief and I think he couldn’t bare to see that happen + knew shanks would regret it. I wonder how often he’s taken care of shanks this way? Carefully monitoring his self destructive behavior and helping him without his knowledge. I wonder if beckman was one of the few people who was able to help shanks come to term with his bloodline and “father” and teach him not to despise himself for it?

Scopper Gaban is underrated.

Manga spoilers for this entire post btw He’s easily my favorite Roger pirate outside of shanks. He’s a great husband, father, and father figure. He’s badass and his design is great. SO WHERE IS THE GABAN LOVE???? He gets barely any fanart or fics?? LOOK AT HIM!

His and shanks relationship is soooo 💔

He’s easily the figure in shanks and buggy’s lives people think Rayleigh is. just look at how he handles shanks mental health + self harm. GIVE GABAN MORE LOVE!!!!!!!!

Why is Shamrock being woobified?

Genuine question.

Not saying that there isn't the possibility that he might turn on his father and the WG, but that doesn't change the fact that he is still a classist asshole whose no doubt done many horrible things. Him not hating Shanks and/or choosing not to actively engage in torturing Loki doesn't change or erase any of that. (I know he hasn't appeared much so far, but he's affiliated with the WG, so...)

TLDR: Let him be terrible (this also applies to several other One Piece characters bc this is by no means specific to Shamrock)

(Plus, a lot of those posts that are like 'Shamrock is a cleaner, better version of Shanks' - jokingly or not - are kind of obnoxious, especially if they're coming from someone who has Shanks as one of their faves.)

Thanks for the ask! And I appreciate you saying you like it when I yap lol especially since I tend to feel like I go way overboard with asks! As obvious as this may be I have to choose the strawhat pirates. I love the Roger pirates but they seem like too much 😭

as for the pros? Well..

-Loyalty. These guys will always love you forever and back. They have your back.

-Nami and robin. They’d be amazing to have as friends I feel, Nami is a girls girl and robin is amazing.

-if you join with not much ambition Luffy will have you wanting to chase your dreams no matter what. And I’m someone that struggles with staying motivated.

-Amazingggggg food ofc! I’ll be spoiled by Sanji and I’m a sucker for snacking a ton I’d love being spoiled lol

-franky and usopp would inspire the creative side of me. I’d love to make art with usopp like hello?

-Music from brook I mean cmonnnnn

-constant traveling. I wanna see things 😭

Now cons?

-Overwhelming. I get overwhelmed easily enough and people like luffy and his friends would be too much for when I just wanna chill a lot of times.

-I do think I’d be treated differently by Sanji and brook. Realistically.

-These mfs have so much trauma and secrets and that shit would be bad on my anxiety.

-THESE PEOPLE DON’T SHOWER ENOUGH. EW.

Pros!

-Deuce and me could relate. So I’d have someone to talk to about simple things with 😭

-also I love writing like him so I’d like to do that together and talk with each other about it!

-I know he has horrible baggage but I’d love to have ace as a friend + captain! He’s a great guy.

-also these people will never let you get hurt either.

-skull is awesome. I’d need to know him I LOVE HIM.

-I don’t think any man would treat me ANY differently and that’s a HUGE plus because the same can’t be said about the Roger pirates or strawhat pirates. 💔

Cons.

-I’d say the fact that ace is all over the place and puts himself in mortal danger. He didn’t know what he wanted before whitebeard and ofc was very much suicidal and that also breaks my heart into pieces.

Bennshanks parallel to shakky/Rayleigh. Where like shakky, beckman over the years watches his captain and adjusts to + learns to understand how he grieves. He sees his self destructive ways and watches over him when he’s drunk. Sometimes while shanks is drunk and if he’s quiet while everyone else is gone Beckman will hear him mutter about his dead captain or daughter who he had to leave behind. Beckman talks to him softly to ease him and helps him rest. He always watches to make sure it doesn’t get to a boiling point. They don’t talk about it to each other or anyone the next day because they know words don’t need to be exchanged between each other. Beckman will always be there for him regardless.

Is there an obscure or one-off character from OP that stuck with you/was memorable? Jessica & Jonathan from G-8 definitely left an impression on me!

Thank you for the ask!!! And omg some of my faves are extremely obscure!!! Now benn beckman is my favorite red hair pirate just beat by shanks who’s my fave. But It’s no secret that i adore LimeJuice!

I’ve posted about him a lot drawn him a lot and made headcanons for him all while he’s only spoken like three times lol he’s just so cool to me! Another fave on shanks crew is definitely hongo! I Love his scenes I love his voice I love that he’s a doctor and he looks great + seems interesting.

I’ve grown really fond of building snake too. And no, he’s never spoken a word in canon.

But he looks so cool right? 😭 I mean he uses two sword juggling style and is a navigator! That’s something to me!

Aces first mate Masked deuce from aces novels is an amazing character who’s left an impression on me. I really like how “regular” he feels among the one piece world. Especially compared to ace. Hes awkward he’s flawed and I love him. He’s spoken the most by far out of my obscure faves.

The two men behind him in the first pic are teach and skull. I really love them too so count them in!

Another character I love that hasn’t spoken a word is Spencer from the Roger pirates. (That hasn’t stopped me from drawing and writing for him either lol)

I love the mysterious and androgynous design given to him. It contrasts the Roger pirates so well because most of them are so burly and tall. With the exception of buggy and shanks naturally. he’s also listed as an intelligence officer on the wiki and I think that’s interesting. I wonder if he’s retired like Gaban and Rayleigh or dead?

With these characters I suppose it’s usually a couple of things that attract me, context clues. they’re designs. and the ability to let my imagination run wild! Like What kind of navigator would building snake be to a captain like shanks? What’s limejuices story? Is something as silly as that even his name? What could Spencer’s story be? I genuinely love these characters and hope at least one of them become important narratively down the line similar to how Gaban (who I also LOVE) has. (Maybe not deuce in the current timeline given he already has the most content. Animating the novels would be great for me!)
