"Drinking Buddies"

Plot: Luke and Kate are co-workers at a Chicago brewery, where they spend their days drinking and flirting. They’re perfect for each other, except that they’re both in relationships. Luke is in the midst of marriage talks with his girlfriend of six years, Kate is playing it cool with her music producer boyfriend Chris. But you know what makes the line between “friends” and “more than friends” really blurry? Beer. – Drinking Buddies (2013)

Now this right here, is what I call a true indie. The whole thing is stunning and marvelously done. Now this isn’t your typical romantic comedy film, this is very realistic and focused on a lot more than just two characters and love but more focused on the friendships and work. The characters are really brought to life by the fact that the whole film is improvised. No script, just a synopsis of what the movie was about and let me tell you these wonderful actors did a phenomenal job! I really felt like I was right there with them, with the laughs, camera setting’s, the emotional stuff, all of it. I almost cried at how well this film was made and produced. I highly recommend watching it, it’s realistic, cute, funny, beautiful and just a brilliant film. You also get to see the actors (Anna Kendrick, Ron LIvingston, Olivia Wilde, & Jake Johnson) in a different view, because everything that they’re saying is coming from them, not a script, them. And it’s just mind-blowing and I can’t wait too see more from Joe Swanberg. Watch this very brilliant, stunning, beautiful film. You will laugh, cry, and just fall in love with these characters and actors. Also in this film they really are getting drunk, that just shows how talented they truly are. In my opinion this is the best of 2013.

"Bully" Documentary

Plot: A documentary about kids around the U.S. being bullied. – Bully (2011) 

What I Thought About: I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much at a documentary…. Like it was so powerful and true! Viewing this as a Christian and a homeschooler, you truly realize how much hate is in the world. I am homeschooled because my parents didn’t want me to get bullied because my siblings were bullied in public school. I can now see why I am. I here stories like this all the time and it breaks my heart. I truly hope the world changes soon. Because it truly is sad. I highly recommend watching this and recommending it too your teachers at school. It really could change some lives and choices. If you bully someone and they kill themselves because of it, it is your fault. And we need to get that message out there. #StopBullying. People don’t realize how serious this all really is. Everyone is the same, God loves everyone and everyone deserves to be treated right. Think about that the next time your fighting with your friends, siblings or parents.  Watch it, cry, hug someone, treat everyone the way you want too be treated.  Rate: 10/10 Rated: PG-13  Film Directed by: Lee Hirsch

"Norman" Review

Plot: A troubled high-school kid pretending to be dying of cancer confronts problems with his new girlfriend and terminally ill father as he struggles with his daily existence. - Norman (2010) What I Thought About It:  For some reason, this movie did not seem like an Indie. It just felt like I was watching a movie and not a true film but overall, it was a brilliant movie. It was very deep and emotional and relatable. It reminded me of a lot of "50/50" but just with highschool students and his dad had the cancer. I recommend watching it, the acting, the characters, the love, the relationships all very relatable and just marvelously portrayed. It's very brilliant and just too the point. It's a cute, short, funny, relatable, great acting movie, and you should watch it cause it's amazing. This is more for the teenage crowd but adults might like it too! And yes it is on #Netflix  What are your thoughts on this movie?  Rate: 7/10 (only because it wasn't as powerful as many other indies and it didn't feel like an indie)  Rated: R (for profanity)  Film Directed by: Jonathan Segal

Girl Most Likely Review

Plot: Girl Most Likely is about a girl who fakes her death to get her ex- boyfriends attention and ends up back at home with her mom (who she hates), her moms boyfriend, brother and a guy who is renting out her room. Follow her through her crazy life. - Girl Most Likely (2013) What I Thought About It: Not as good as I thought it would be. The trailers made it seem super funny and it wasn't, it was a disappointment. Although the acting was pretty good but just not good enough. And the story really doesn't keep you interested, it has a few funny parts, and is very sentimental. I think the only parts I really enjoyed, was her brother. He seemed scared and confused but knew what he wanted. It's hard to explain you just have to see it for yourself I guess. Wiig, I've learned is only good in comedies and I'm really unsure of how I feel about The Secret Life of Walter Mitty but who knows. I recommend watching this if your looking for a short, sentimental, kind of funny movie. It's not the best but that's just my opinion! Hunger Games: Catching Fire Review

Plot:  Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever. - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) What I Thought About It:  Surprisingly very good. I love seeing them bring books too the screen because you get to experience it in a new way. And let me tell you they did very well bringing this too the screen, even though they couldn't put everything in there, they did good!  There were a few times that I wanted too cry 1. Because it was so good and 2. Because it was very powerful.  The acting was very good, emotional and phenomenal. I was proud. I also loved that they stuck too the book, like I was pretty much able to quote it because I'm a nerd and yeah. But it was cool (had a few flaws though) and very well done. This was one of Lawrence's best performances, as well as Hutcherson. I'm not a fan of Hemsworth so I'm not gonna say anything, and Banks was super funny and just awesome! I highly highly recommend watching this, great performances, soundtrack, and filmography. Just amazing. Lawrence (the director) did a lot better than Ross. One thing I didn't like was how they ended it because it was exactly like Breaking Dawn Pt.1 and that right there for me is crossing the line cause they are trying too hard to be like Stephanie Meyer. Collins needs to do her own thing.  But watch it. Like now. Cause it's amazing. Also it's better if you read the books first so you aren't really confused.  Rate: 8.9 Rated: PG-13 Film Directed By: Francis Lawrence
