Minji looked down on the form in front of her, tracing the golden outlines of the flower sheâd doodled in one corner once again. She didnât quite get why she was supposed to fill this form out, or what anyone would want to do with the information, but hey, she didnât complain. Things like these were always fun to fill out. She tapped the gold pen against her desk three, four, five times and then, with a small smile gracing her lips, started filling out the answer to the questions.

Students or anyone passing by could surely think that the library was empty. Nana moved throught the shelves of books with light steps, those being nerly unnoticed unless you were close enough. She spent the whole morning stacking and organizing a bunch of books, and now, she decided to clean things up a little bit.
She went to the reception balcony quickly, only to pick up a big feather duster. She sighed deeply looking at all the shelves she had to clean, rolling her neck to the side with a snap. Well, the job had to be done; Itâs not like she hated staying there, anyway. She liked the quiet atmosphere and the creaking noises the wooden shelves made from time to time. Plus, she could always read a book on her break, and that was jackpot.
She started cleaning the lower sections first, coughing a little due to the dust down there, nothing that would bother her that much. Soon, she had to climb a huge ladder to clean the top section, the stairs shaking slightly as she went up. As she started humming softly, she could barely hear the footsteps approaching her way down.
The library was in general a bit to calm, quiet and indoors for Minjiâs taste, but she had never much minded going there. There were so many books, so she knew she could always walk out of there with something interesting to read. Walking out of there being the key point perhaps, as Minji preferred bringing the borrowed books to the park to read rather than leafing through them inside, accompanied by too quiet-people and stuffy, dusty library air.
Today she was hunting the shelves for something to read that would match the beautiful weather, something that wasnât to much of a heavy read and preferably had a happy ending. Turning a corner to get to the section she guessed might have such books, the first thing she noticed was the girl balancing high up on a ladder, dusting the bookshelves. It was something very familiar over the girl, enough to for Minji to do a double take. She couldnât quite pin the other down â she knew she recognized her but wasnât really sure why. It probably ment that they had only bumped into each other once or maybe twice, but they most definitely had met before. Where had they met? Well, there was only one way to find out.
âHi, excuse me, sorry for bothering you but do you think you could help me with something?â she greeted the other as she stepped closer to the ladder. The I recognize you from somewhere-card she could play later.
âOk, sharing the blame sounds like a good idea.â She laughed a little, it was easier than just debating who was really at fault here and as they both wanted to take the blame there was no harm in just sharing the blame. It was nice to meet someone who seemed so genuinely nice - not that most people werenât nice here, it was just that some of them could really react badly to things. Nayeon didnât have a power that really could protect her so she liked to know she was in a place that was safe.
Nayeon followed the other and smiled. âI can pay you a little towards the coffee.â She offered, she didnât want the other to get into any trouble for giving her things on the house. She wanted to make sure the other kept her job - after all, all that had happened was a collision on the sidewalk.
Nayeon smiled, âWell, Iâm training to be a nurse so I have class and then shifts and I just finished an all night shift and I have an exam in an hour.â She sighed, âand then Iâm back in the hospital this afternoon but after that Iâm free to sleep until 8 in the morning when Iâm back in.â She laughed, she knew her hours were crazy - and what was ever crazier was this was an easy day hours wise.
âPerfect!â With that discussion cleared and out of the way (although debating with the aim of putting the blame on oneself definitely was nicer than the other way around), Minjiâs usual smile settled on her face. âOh, by the way, Iâm Minji, nice to meet you! I figure we better get that out of the way,â she introduced herself with a small laugh.
âDonât worry about it! We pretty much get to drink coffee for free, and I never make use of that, so as long as you donât want something super complicated itâs all good. And if you do wanât something fancier weâve got a pretty neat staff discount so yeah.â Minji beamed at the other girl. She did seem genuinely sweet, Minji concluded, and she decided that her new acquaintance was someone to like.
She couldnât help but blurt out a âOh wow!â at the otherâs description of her plans for the day. âYou sound crazy busy. Thatâs real dedication though, Iâm impressed!â There were notes of honest amazement in Minjiâs voice as she spoke. She wished she could find herself an interest strong enough to make her study and work that hard. âAlso, letâs definitely hurry to get you that muffin and coffee, you need energy for the exam,â she concluded with a small laugh, rushing her steps as the Flower Mill came into view.
[ @mpxminji ] !! â THE girl was distang, and she enjoyed that, she enjoyed her solitude and her space. enjoyed the lack of interactions in her day and how thanks to that she could work more. it was a routine she grew to love and one that not people agreed on. minji, for example, was one of those people. the other demigod always found a way to get seyeon out of her comfort zone, out of her apartment and bring her out to the real world. and in this case, in this special case, out to the sunshine festival.Â
IT was easy to say that the two were opposites. minji was all smiles and friendly conversations, seyeon was mostly frowns and no conversation. yet they got along, they could talk and go out and not want to kill each other apart. minji was enough warmth for the both of them and seyeon was enough cold, enough realistic and sour. it worked, somehow. and because it work, minji got away with a few things. today it was the outing to the festival. the festival, which seyeon had no interest in. the own name made her uncomfortable. sunshine festival.Â
NO amount of excuses had helped her, no amounts of groans and stares kept her from coming. instead they seem to have motivated minji more. and there they were, walking along some booths and people who seem to be chatting too loudly for her liking. âyou know. i might die from the heat right? if i do, itâs all on you.â she spoke, after a while. her mood was obvious and although she knew that it would probably not last, she was still grumpy about the fact that she left a song half done because of this dumb festival.
They were perhaps an unlikely match. One of them the daughter of a snow goddess, all cold and ice â the other daughter of a goddess of fertility, all warmth and sunshine. Minji had long since decided to overlook that and instead focus on how the two girls complemented each other so very well. That Seyeon wasnât that much for talking didnât bother Minji at all, it only meant more space for her own chattering. Â Her friends habit of locking herself inside her room and avoiding the rest of the world was so far from Minjiâs love of people, crowds and busy places that she never quite had been able to understand it. She only figured that it must be awfully boring, and had come to the conclusion that it was up to herself to get her friend outside every now and then. The demigoddess was far from discouraged by Seyeons groaning, she never was, and so she was usually quite successful in getting her own will through.
This week, for example, was the week of the Sunshine festival. The name itself was enough to make Minii all giddy with excitement, even though she knew it was silly. Admittedly, she had been forced to work harder than usual on getting Seyeon to come with her, but she had at last succeeded and that mattered more than the effort it had required. Unfortunately, she hadnât managed to make her friend mirror the smile that seemed to have gotten stuck on her lips, all since the entered the festival area. While Minji pulled the other girl from booth to booth, keeping a monologue going about everything there was to see and comment on around them, Seyeon had kept about as quiet as she usually did, obviously not being in the warmest of moods.
âShhh, donât be so dramatic! A little sunshine wonât hurt you, you know, and besides itâs time you actually get out and do something other than hiding in your roomâ Minji replied with a small laugh when her friend finally spoke. She paused for only a moment when she realized that there actually was some truth behind it. âBut yeah, youâre right, itâs pretty hot out today. MaybeâŠâ
A booth caught her sight from the corner of her eye and she stopped suddenly, grabbing Seyeonâs arm to make sure the other wouldnât continue without her. âYou know whatâs good for that though?â Minji flashed her friend a wide smile, pointing towards the booth they just passed before continuing, hardly giving the other time to reply. âIce cream. My treat!â
âI feel sorry for you.â He offered a small smile, âI get the occasional person who didnât have time for a coffee but you must get so many. I know that sometimes I am evil when I havenât had coffee.â He said with a small smile. He knew that sometimes he was out of control when it came to his mood when he hadnât had coffee, although he would blame that on the fact that we was out most nights being used as a warm body for most men who just wanted to sleep with a man. And in the light of day it sucked, he hated how used he felt.
Wonshik laughed a little, âI put like six sugars in my coffee.â He said with a small laugh. He knew that probably defeated the point of having a coffee as he was probably just giving himself a sugar rush, rather than anything to do with caffeine. Coffee was over-rated although some people really did need it to function. He sometimes needed it to wake up.
Wonshik smiled a little at the other. âSon of Freyr.â He offered. âSo I can influence the weather with my emotions - for some reason my powers are most strongly linked with rain.â He shrugged a little. He didnât know why it was usually rain - but there were occasions he managed to produce sun, although it wasnât all that common. âI feel bad when I make it rain and I know Iâve done some amazing work on some clients that day.â He said with a small sigh.
âOh, donât! At least I know theyâll feel better after theyâve had that first cup. I feel almost like a saint standing there and putting together their lattes and whatnots,â she replied. In some ways it felt like while working the morning shift at the Mill, she was the only thing that stood between the city and the caffeine-deprived zombie apocalypse. Sure, it might not be that dramatic, but it did make it a bit more bearable. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.
She laughed as Wonshik continued. âI donât judge you. Thatâs the only way to make it drinkable, and the sugar rush is great,â she agreed. Minji knew most people old enough to be considered adults were assumed to like drinking coffee, but she had never been able to get around the bitter taste. It simply wasnât her thing, she preferred milder and sweeter things.
âOoh, thatâs really impressive! I suppose you donât need to keep that much track of the weather reports then?â she joked. She kind of wished she could have powers like that, other than âI always tend to be lucky and miss the rain with only a few minutes if Iâm going outside during rainy days, so you shouldnât have to worry that much about me at least,â she continued, the tone of her voice still slightly joking.
It took her a while to register the name of his father, passing Minji by without her paying it much notice at first. When she finally took it in her eyes widened quickly, searching for Wonshikâs through the mirror.
Freyr. Freyja.
âTheyâre siblings!â She blurted out the words, a wide grin spreading across her face. âI mean, weâre cousins!â It was the first time sheâd met anyone she was related to since arriving at Mount Phoenix; the first time ever even, as long as she didnât count her grandparents. To call it a pleasant surprise would be a severe understatement.
âYou didnât wait too long, did you?â Yezi scratches the back of her head, eyes scouting out the lively night event for any, well⊠Threats. Itâs a habit sheâs developed well over time, and something sheâs quite thankful for.Â
Her eyes follow Minjiâs counting each person mentally that the girl stops on. Noticing one of the girlsâ staring back, Yezi cocks her head to the side, a scowl settling on her face as she looks the stranger over. âWhat was that?â She points at Minjiâs hands. âFlirting?â Chuckling, she shakes her head, and turns her attention to her open bag to fish out her red lipstick.
âNo. You do trouble. I just⊠Prevent it..â Removing the cover, she applies her lipstick to her lips, the fact she forgot to put some on earlier has been irking her since she left home. Yezi stuffs it back into her purse, and turns toward Minji, directing her attention. âAlright. So whatâs first? Drinks? Are you hungry?â
âIt felt like ages,â she says with a joking pout, one she manages to hold for a solid two seconds before laughing. âNo but really, it wasnât too bad.â She had found people to talk to while waiting and there were worse ways to spend the time. âIâm glad youâre finally here though,â she ads with emphasis.
She sees that Yezi follows her line of sight and immediately braces herself for the reaction. She almost finds it kind of sad that she isnât more surprised, but this is Yezi and this is how she is. âOh, no flirting. Then Iâd still be talking to her, you knowâ she explains with a small flick of the hand, an attempt to fend off the scowl of her friendâs face, although without backing away completely. As for the accusation of causing trouble, now that was a remark she decides to ignore.
âI like that shade, it suits you,â she observes in an attempt to change the subject. The smile is starting to settle on her face again, as her thoughts are tuned back towards the prospects of the evening. âI ate before I came here, but Iâm always up for something to eat if youâre going to get anything.â
Ah, yes. Trust her luck to bring her a chirpy orientation âbuddyâ. Her outstretched hand was in front of her, and she knew that her grandfather will have a word with her if she was ill-mannered. Given all the trouble she had caught herself into, Hyeri was surprised that her training was still intact. She gingerly took the girlâs hand promptly, dropping it after she gave it a small shake. âIâm Lee Hyeri.â She didnât know what to do next, so she stayed quiet.Â
Hyeri figured that it was time to go on the trip as the rest of the participants were already filing out of the room. Looking at the girl, she had just realized that she had met someone such as herself - another demigod. While it was true that she saw a lot of them all around, but it was her first time to actually talk to someone who was possibly as powerful as her (though she hasnât explored that aspect just yet), and possibly magical (she didnât know what she can do with that just yet, if she had it).Â
She mused that it would be awkward to ask her what she can do and what her powers were, so she pressed her lips shut once again. She was never good at social interaction, nor did she have a concern to constantly fill up the silence. Hyeri stood then, ready to go, shouldering her satchel and consulting her map. âSo⊠where?â She mumbled, more to herself than to the girl. Small talk was such a pain in the ass.
âHyeri, thatâs a pretty name!â Minji gave the girlâs hand a tight squeeze as she shook it. It was very obvious that the excitement painted across Minjiâs face from meeting a new friend wasnât mirrored in Hyeriâs. But hey, she wasnât one to take such things to heart. She knew from experience that it was quite overwhelming to arrive at the island, leaving everything else behind. Or maybe Hyeri was only suffering from a bad case of resting bitch face. Either way, Minji wouldnât be one to judge.
âWelcome to Mount Phoenix!â she smiled, gesturing around the room in lack of a better view of the city. âIt is much more interesting when you get outside, of course,â she added with a small laugh. âLots of fun places and interesting people. Speaking of which, I hope you donât mind me asking, have you figured out your godly parent yet?â
Minji gave the other girl an almost apologetic look, hoping it wouldnât be a too sensitive question. The last thing she wanted was to come across as rude or intrusive. Yet, she was beyond curious about the answer.
âYouâll get that question a lot Iâm afraid, because thatâs usually the first way weâre categorized around here,â she explained. It had taken Minji quite some time to get used to that particular question, because letâs face it â it wasnât really someone asked you out in the normal world. Still, around Mount Phoenix it was the quickest way to getting an idea about someoneâs character and judge their powers. It was simply safer to know, especially with some of the people walking around the town.
Ah, yes. The touring.
People had already started to leave the room, which probably meant it was time to get going. Minji leaned over to take a look at Hyeriâs map. There was so much she wanted to show the girl that she figured she could keep them walking around until night fell and then some more. It might not be the best idea though â she wasnât sure Hyeri would be very fond of that plan.
he nods in confirmation at his order, looking at all the flowers again and he smiles, poking one with his finger. âits a pretty power,â he compliments. âdo you know all of their names? do they reply if you talk to them?â she probably did and no, they probably didnât. everyone seemed to be smarter than him here.
maybe he should study more. and put on a brain filter.
sungyeol hums, looking behind him to see that thereâs no one else in line before leaning his hip against the counter. âyeah, i moved here recently and iâm still trying to get my shit sorted,â sungyeol groans, rubbing his temples. why didnât he have the power to make carbon copies of himself to go and sort his stuff out for him? that would be a useful power. he wondered if she could make her flowers move. âiâm also still trying to find the best coffee shop around, though. any suggestions?â
and of course she would say the flower mill. what employee wouldnât choose their own establishment?
âhave you been here long?â he asks. âiâm sungyeol, by the way.â
âThank you! And pretty much all of them, yeah. My dad is a florist so he taught me,â she replied with a smile.
âUnfortunately, no. It would be really neat though, donât you think? Iâd never be lonely, that would be a really convenient power,â she continued, unable to hold back a laugh. That was quite an interesting question, not really one following the books. Still, she didnât feel like it was too off coming from the boy. He gave the impression of being that kind of person, in the absolute best of ways. âDo you have any fun powers?â she asked, leaning a bit closer to the counter in waiting for the answer.
Minji hummed quietly as he continued, nodding slowly. âMoving is a pain,â she agreed, suppressing a small shudder at the though. The first period of trying to figure a new place out was always tough she mused, as she set to work with his latte. She definitely was happy that she had settled in well enough now.
Her answer to his question was the most obvious one, and she knew he must expect it. It wasnât as if she could mention any other coffee shop than the Mill. âThis place of course, so I hope youâll come back often!â she concluded with a joking wink. Then again, nothing about it was a lie. The place was great, and his pretty face would be very welcome back.
Maybe she shouldnât use that reasoning when
âIâve only been here a couple of months, but I really, really like it. Oh, and Iâm Minji.â
A flower's appeal is in its contradictions â so delicate in form yet strong in fragrance, so small in size yet big in beauty, so short in life yet long on effect.
Yeziâs protective attitude over Minji continues to grow day by day, and with the more time they spent with each other. She canât explain her feelings toward the girl, and if she had to sheâd be at a loss for words. Whether it be Minjiâs more⊠frail figure or her naive nature, it always brings back memories to Yezi. Nothing will hurt the girl, not with the daughter of Morrigan near.Â
Arriving to the night club, Yezi slips through the line and to the front, walking straight inside. She promised Minji a fun night out; weâll just hope she can manage to contain herself. The demigoddess weaves through the crowd, avoiding anyoneâs effort for conversation, and heads straight for their meeting place. Yezi spots the girl right away, and a small, effort-filled smile graces her red lips.Â
âMinji⊠Iâm here. Sorry it took so long..â Sighing, Yezi takes the spot next to her friend, settling her purse down into her lap. âGet into any trouble yet?â
Minji was never the one to turn down the prospect of a night out. Not because she particularly enjoyed dim-lit bars or the clubs with their loud music and flashing lights. (Did that make her sound old? It probably did. She didnât care.) What she did like about them was the abundance of people, the possibility of making new, interesting friends if so only for the night.
She lights up at the sound of her friendâs voice, giving Yezi a wide-smiled welcome. âDonât worry about it! Youâre here now, thatâs what matters.â
The corners of her mouth lowers ever so slightly at the question. A quick look around the room lets her count to at least seven people sheâs already struck up a conversation with since arriving not too long ago. Minji is rather sure Yezi wouldnât approve of at least half of them. She makes eye contact with one of the girls she was talking to earlier, who now sports a fresh flower in her hair, and gives her a small wave before turning back to Yezi.
âWhy would I get into trouble? I donât do trouble, I only like watching it from the sidelines,â she replies, her voice kept carefree and her face as beaming as ever. It was after all the truth.
