Hi! My name is Jason, Jay, or Jay-bird! I'm a transmasc 19 year old system! If Riddle seems bitchier some days and more childlike than others, it's because one of the others is messing with the account. Edward is meant to be based more on Arkham games Edward Nigma, so I want that to be clear. That being said, there will be references to self-harm at times, as well as self-hate.

Rahne stared quietly across the desk at Riddler, patiently waiting for him to speak or ask her a question. When she decided to give the whole being a henchmen thing a shot, Rahne didn’t quite expect that she would end up face to face with the Riddler for a proper interview. The texting answers to riddles from anonymous numbers, sure. But an actual interview? Not exactly what she had in mind. Then again, it’s better than what’s she’s heard about trying out for Penguin. Which from her understanding, involves a sort of modern day gladiatorial combat. So as painfully awkward as this meeting was, she at least found solace in knowing it could be much worse.

"So!" Edward finally speaks, looking at the paper in front of him. He is just as lost, if he's being honest. He's never actually conducted an interview. A brain itch, this is.

"why do you want the job? And what makes you think you're qualified?"

“I want this job, because…” Rahne’s mind blanked for a moment. Damn nerves. She hasn’t had the best track record in terms of interviews. Between the one where her father spoke for her the entire time, and the one where she was never called back, Rahne can’t really say she’s had a successful interview all on her own. Much less one applying for a dangerous criminal’s organization.

“Because I need the money.” And she’s pretty sure she’s blown it.

"I... Suppose that's as much of a reason as any," he murmurs, feeling refreshed that the answer is at least honest. He sighs, placing the paper down and leaning back.

"How are you with engineering and craftsmanship?"

“Well, I have experience in engineering. I’ve taken a few classes in middle and high school. Been a part of a robotics team and day camp. I’ve even been told I could make a gifted engineer given the talent for math and science when I was a kid. But honestly, I struggle understanding some of it…” Rahne confessed. “Oh, but I’m still very interested in learning! I like knowing how things work!” She quickly added with enthusiasm. After all, she didn’t want to give of the impression that she was willfully ignorant at the very least.

“That being said, I would say my skills at craftsmanship are much better by comparison. I wouldn’t say they’re perfect, but you know how the creative types are. ‘You’re your own worst critic.’” Rahne said. She needed to make sure Riddler understood she wasn’t completely useless, that she had some level of competence. But at the same time, Rahne couldn’t shake the feeling she may come across as arrogant or a liar. Something told her she wasn’t quite skating the line of confident and humble as well as she had hoped.

Edward gives her a deadpan look, his glasses sliding down on his nose as if putting their two cents in.

After a second, he raises an eyebrow before sitting back. "And do you have any proof of this? Anything you can show me as an example of skill?"

“Well, I’m an artist. So I do have good hand-eye coordination. I’ve also DIY’ed some stuff around my house. Fixing a broken toilet chain, adjusting the hinges on my door, my bookshelves, fixing jewelry and clothes. Mostly basic stuff, but I believe that just highlights my eagerness to learn.”

I pull out my phone from my pocket. “I also have pictures of my work on here. But I turned it off so no one could track me to your… lair?”

"You realize how much you'll have to learn to even amount to being capable as my assistant?"

He finally pushes his glasses up before reaching under the table to grab something. When he pulls it out, Rahne can see that it looks to be a simple, unsolved rubix cube.

"solve this. Every thirty second it's not solved, it'll shock you," he explains, setting it in front of her.

Rahne looks at the cube. She looks at Riddler, and then back to the cube. “Could I see your gloves for a sec?” She asks, pointing at the work gloves Edward was currently wearing.

Edward gives a small hum, feigning indifference as he hands her the gloves. The man would never admit that he already likes her minds problem solving ability.

“Thank you.” Rahne said, nodding politely as she carefully took the gloves from Edward. She slipped them on her hands and gave them an extra tug at the wrists. She couldn’t help but notice they were a bit big on her much smaller hands. Rahne didn’t mind though, and actually felt oddly pleased with the fact Riddler so gracefully lended them to her. Given his reputation, she honestly expected him to rudely tell her no and to just deal with it.

Without further ado, Rahne picked up the unsolved cube. She turned it over in her hands a few times, before carefully turning the pieces, trying to logic out the puzzle. After some seconds pass, Rahne heard the faint hum of electricity, and then a crackle as the cube turned to a small ball of lightning. “Agh!” She yelped, instinctively jutting her arms forward, holding it away from her.

"It's meant to hurt," he so 'helpfully' explains, the smug look on his face obvious. "Continue, or else I'll go look for someone else. And, do be quick. I have plans after this."
